  • Hey everyone. A quick how-to on making a slappy curb fast. It only took me 30-60 minutes to go from a crusty curb to a buttery slappy spot. How you enjoy the video.

The feeling of applying clear coat in broad daylight is intense 😂 I got a mission coming up and that’s the only part I’m not excited about. Gonna look into the brush on stuff

In my opinion, the spray on lacquer is not good value. Depending on the curb, it may take multiple cans. Better to get a small bucket, and apply it with a paint brush.

Looks like you're documenting my life lol
Quick tip : if it's for a spot that i'm hoping to skate every week, I let a solid 1- 2 week between the rub brick and the clear coat so hopefully the rain will rinse the dust from the rub brick and the coat will apply better ! Also, I'd always apply the clear coat early (like 5am) so I'm sure I'm not being bothered by some local vigilante

Tip: I'm usually sitting on my skateboard on the ledge while I'm rubbing the edge bellow my knees with the rub brick. I roll along the edge while doing it to make it as long as needed you can also put your backpack over your knees to make the whole thing less noticeable.
It usually get unnoticed no matter how crowded the spot is. It looks as if I'm waiting for my friends while I'm warming up my knees. The sound of brick rubbing won't be as noticable if you are rubbing with shorter movements, many people would think that it's the sound of skateboard trucks grinding anyway so it's easy to get away with that.
Clear coating can be also done while riding on your skateboard along the ledge while spraying it with paint hidden in tetrapack or something else.
Waxing can be done the same way as brick rubbing.
Note: if you can do it in the evening or night better do it then, it can be much safer. Otherwise consider wearing a vest like any other construction worker, they might not bother you as much. Repeat this on all skatable ledges in your neighborhood and the world will become a playground for skateboarding.

a stealthier alternative to the spray clear coat is a can of lacquer and a brush or roller, its a little messier but way more low key. but that being said get it how you can!!!

This was great. Was feeling your stress and glad you didn't get a vandalism charge. I wish everyplace was like Cali. They use finer cement and slap generous coats of paint on their fire lanes year after year. Many of the curbs are angled too. Slappy heaven.
I'm in Florida and the curbs are crap here. I would have to do some serious conditioning to get one ready. I can think of one parking lot (still under construction) where it might be possible. Good info. Subbed.

Great job bro! Curb prep videos are arguably my favourite sub-genre of skate videos. I totally get the paranoia at 5:22 where you're constantly looking up expecting to see a cop or security guard looking at you, lol. I'd feel better putting coating from a can on with a brush and just smearing it on thick, but weirdly I've found that, at least in Europe where I live, 'clear' coat only comes in spray cans, while all the coating in tins is always coloured for some reason. The owners of the local parking lot seem to tolerate us skating there, but if I'm prepping another curb I'll make sure to hide the spray cans in my bag and, if there's a camera nearby, get someone to park their car in front of me while I'm doing the rubbing and coating. Spot looks great, hope it's is a keeper and look forward to seeing you get clips here!
