I had the same Rob Roskopp and my brother had the Per Welinder back in the 80s. Wish we still had them. They were our first real skateboards. Crazy that you have both!
I have both boards and ride them for different reasons. The Powell reissues are the original shape and concave while Santa Cruz has adjusted their reissues to a more modern concave and added nose kick to make skating them easier. The Roskopp face is one of my favorite boards in the park to this day
Great video mate! Enjoyed watching this! My Powell Peralta Bones Brigade 15 Mike McGill deck will be here today aswell as my New Deal Andrew Morrison Lovers deck in red stain , so i'm excited for those. Take it easy 👍
@@sunfunskate They will go into storage with my other decks until i have a wall to hang them on also lol. Should be moving into my new place within a few months so then they will be displayed all over the place!
I can say from experience because I skated that Roskopp in the late 80’s, that the concave and kicks were the same back then. Powell boards were generally flat with minimal concave.
i have a mcgill skull/snake reissue from 2012ish, before they went back to the old school bolt pattern. i think it was a dumb choice personally, but i get they were trying to appeal to people who want to wall mount them with period correct trucks. i have a santa cruz dressen rose crew, the blue one. it's like a '90-'91 shape, really looking forward to it.
@@sunfunskate i have stage 5(or 6?) indy 149s on my mcgill, but i drilled the new holes in the baseplates. indy 159(8.75") and bigger have the 6 hole plates, but only the standard/cast plates, not the forged from what i understand. i have several trucks from the '90s with 6 hole plates (venture, thunder, grindking, titan)
I love the OGs but I love a good nose more. So the modified 80s boards are some of my favorites. I have not skated either of these boards. G&S is my OG skate company. Also love the clear grip. Stickers and Clear grip just feels period correct to me. Appreciate your approach. Stay Rad
Nice video dude...killer decks. You have a new sub👊🏼 I have the same Weli on my wall...so beautiful but it McTwited really fast...don't make them like they used to.
Brings back memories. I had the Powell Peralta when I was 14. I’m 49 now and still at it. ( trying)

I had a hawk back in the late 80’s for five years and then got a roskopp and my tricks improved 100%
Hopefully the Hawk skates good. I should be setting it up next week!

I never had the welinder as a kid. I had the first Ray Barbee rag doll. It was pretty flat too!
My heart!!! Loved & lived on Roskopp's before going to Johnny Kopp & Matt Hensley decks... Damn, I miss this.
They skate good!!
I want to say my Roskopp Face deck had 2 or 3 possible front truck position holes pre drilled…..can’t remember for sure that was 30+ years ago 😂
Nice ive got the same purple Roskopp Reissue check the build setup 👌
@@50PlusSk8r thanks! I checked your video out a few months ago. Good stuff!
Love that blue colour.
Yeah, it's nice!
awesome i'm into re-issues lately aswell, having a blast, it give me way more control somehow
I bet it's the longer wheel bases and wider trucks.
Awesome video bro. I skate the winkowski. Love these 80s shaped boards.
Thanks!!! They rule! Keep shredding!!!
On a Welender re issue. Yellow. Didn’t like it til I drilled the rear trucks back a little. 15 1/4 wheelbase. Roskopp look good, big!
Do you skate street or transition more?

@@kimrice394 The Roskopp face has a long wheelbase. Like 15.3"

Those are some sick boards! Yeah, I guess they were just being nostalgic with the old school hole patterns... At least the mini logos have both!

The 80’s spoon nose wasn’t as flat as the modern reissues.
@@wakeinfright5498 was that the McGill spoon nose?
@ I had a Hawk spoon nose, one friend had a Cab and Vallely. All weren’t flat like the modern ones.
