Tubéreuse Astrale is possibly the strongest from the collection, touched the tip of the atomizer once and the scent stayed on me the entire day without even a single spray! Such a unique take on Tuberose too.
Great review & love the (well-deserved) PdM shade. 😂 But I really don’t get the niche / designer labelling though. What’s the point of dividing brands by whether they make other stuff too? People use it as a shorthand for better, but in what way? Quality? Artistry? Neither of those are true, and they’re certainly not caused by a brand only making fragrances vs not. It’s seems practically meaningless. IDK 🤷♂️ Maybe I’m just not understanding it correctly… What’s the implication *you* have when you say ‘niche’?
Great points and I totally agree with you! It’s just a personal thing I can never seem to get over really and I somewhat exaggerate the definition beyond the general rule of thumb when it comes “niche vs designer” but in all, most niche houses sell fragrances often for 2x-3x the price over most designer releases and the general standard prior to niche houses becoming more accessible to the vast majority is that they’ve always been against the grain and more experimental with their creations (generally speaking). I don’t mind if a brand decides to go down the more simplistic route when it comes to making a fragrance but it should come at slightly less of a price unless they’re using premium raw natural ingredients. I feel like some houses like PDM create a false sense of luxury (yeah the bottles are nice) whereas the scents themselves aren’t as imaginative. Even though at the end of the day a niche house is just a brand that solely focuses on fragrance while a designer does everything from clothing to cars, they’re intent is to often to sell to appeal to the majority and have $$$ at the forefront of their focus, Whereas many niche brands over the years have cared more so for the art, experimentation, pushing boundaries and catering their creations based on personality! I think most of us can agree that brand like PDM are pleasant but not justifiable enough at times 😊

I often prefer to support niche brands like Xerjoff, Frederic Malle, Vilhelm, DS & Druga, ect that really pour their blood, sweat and tears into their creations! Opposed to say Hugo Boss, Gucci, Rabanne and Carolina Herrera. 😅
The primary difference between niche vs designer fragrances is that designer fragrances are created to be mass appealing, mass market products. Most people are not frag-heads, and when looking to buy fragrances will steer towards those well know designer houses. Niche perfumery is just that - it focuses on a niche part of the fragrance market - that being primarily frag-heads, or people that are into fragrances, and as such can be far more creative in their approach and thus create fragrances that are not necessarily mass appealing but for specific audiences.
