Mr. R. K . Ramesh ,Architect is simply great. He deserves national recognition like Padmashri or even higher one for his efforts. Congratulations to him.
This is a wonderful way of building your house. You don't even need an air conditioner. My father built our house in 1969 with a dual wall using mud bricks. The best house in the city those days.
This is the same style house my father built in 1965. Those days he used mud bricks in 2 layers leaving a space of 2 inches between those layers. In the summer my Grandma come to sleep there because its pleasant than my Aunt house. The air flows between the walls and keep the house cool. Also he installed a sprinkler system on the top roof that spray water on both side of the roof. It's manually operated. We used to turn it during the really hot summer for 2 hours after 4:00 p.m
@Srinivas Kandukuri In 2020 there're some international companies looking into this building concept. With the global warming on one side and scarcity of Gypsum on the other people are looking into alternatives. There are many companies making these high class bricks. Much stronger and less heavier. One of them is Porotherm-Bricks. www.buildersmart.in/blogs/Porotherm-brick-advantages. Check the India Mart. dir.indiamart.com/impcat/clay-block.html

This sounds really nice and I love these products. But now they are not very feasible. Besides, to manufacture any type of clay product there has to be an indiscriminate excavation of clay from cultivable land which makes the land unfit for cultivation or for any other purpose as they become huge pits. They can store water of course. I used to manufacture bricks form 1981 to 1994 in Chennai. I discontinued after realizing the damage I was causing to the land. Now there are alternative products like AAC Blocks and CLC blocks. I'm now back in my hometown Calicut where I do construction using recycled and eco-friendly material.
