my first engine was a diesel from germany. i took my dad and my uncle and me 2 afternoons to get it to fire. i was 12 or 13 at the time. you learn and it gets easier.
You are experiencing the "pain" for finding the correct setting(s) for that first time to start a diesel engine .. Now that you got this ... ALL subsequent runs will be a breeze ... You could shorten dramatically this "first" setting run on any diesel engine but that requires that you have had your share of time spent with them when teanager .. It is a "lost art" sort of speak but for those who still enjoy them are trully fun engines. By the way, that engine comes with a stock plastic propellor (from Russia) .. that is roughly a 7x6 .. while a 9x5 won't kill the engine, you should switch to an 8x5 for more free runs .. My opinion. I have several of these exact same engines (some of them still brand new) and the ones I use (for control line primarily) are truly enjoyable. I enjoy watching your videos.
Great share, Welcome to diesels, or compression ignition to be more correct, as you use in the video (and I know I am 3 years late to your party, here). I haven't run one in a few years but for fun just picked up one of these. I will have to relearn to run them. Once good thing is you can make your own fuel. John Deere engine starter is supposed to be the purest ether. I tracked down a bottle of cetane, just a few drops does the trick - like nitromethane for glow engines.
I am giving you a very good hint as a person from Soviet time, knowing this engine rather well-do not use your finger for starting up, just use cordless drill, you see in frot of the prop hole-it is exactly for that ;)
Hi David, the little motor is beautiful and the 9X5 prop was a good choice ( Diesels typically like to swing larger props than glow engines). This engine is going to become very easy to start as you become more familiar with it..........Enjoy! Great video.....!
I'm currently working on a Turbo OS FS-40 Waiting for the custom cam and piston to arrive. ^^will be on my car since I just Blew the current turbo engine about a month ago. its gonna be awesome to have a Turbo FS-40 engine with RCEXL ignition on an RC CAR !!!!! and this time, the turbo is machined out of metal and I shot every step so I'll upload the new serie soon. It's gonna be a long journey but, will be worth it.
It is not a radio control engine which have a throttle. It was designed for free flight, control line or radio assisted free flight with radio controlling only rudder or at most, rudder and elevator.
Винт тяжелый, МК17 отлично работает со своим родным!

I was always told by compression ignition experts never to use a starter on one.

The most beautiful engine in this channel!!!!!!!!!!!!

Szia.
Milyen az üzemanyagod alkotói aránya?
Для МК-17 ставится винт 7x4. С другими винтами высока нагрузка на шатун и коленвал. И обороты будут в норме 12000.
Hello, nice video, how about I use Syntethic oil and zero ricin oil ? Thanks
I cannnot advise you on that.
Hi David, what kind of fuel you use Thank you very much
Did you bother to read the video description???
Great presentation
How do you control the throttle with a servo?????
It is not a radio control engine which have a throttle. It was designed for free flight, control line or radio assisted free flight with radio controlling only rudder or at most, rudder and elevator.
what you will find is when the prop bounces back and forth, the compression screw is in too much.
That part at the beginning? I was wondering what the heck was going on there.... Thank you.
my MK17 did the same thing after you get a few good runs in it wont do it as much
Nice run
768 rpm looks to be right in the pocket!
Wonderful 👍
I want I have this engine you can help me plzzz
