I’m currently living in Germany and have been here since last 3 years now. I can definitely see your point of not feeling like home here, I felt the same initially. The only solution to this is giving the place and the country more time. It does get better with time in my experience.

I've been calling Germany home for the past six years, and I have to say, it genuinely feels like home. The German language has played a significant role in making me feel like a part of this vibrant culture.

From engaging in conversations with my neighbors to cracking jokes with colleagues at work, speaking German has brought me closer to the heart of this country. It's amazing how mastering a language can open doors to understanding different customs, traditions, and even sharing delicious meals together. Whether it's enjoying a hearty schnitzel at a local restaurant or celebrating Oktoberfest like a true Bavarian, being able to express myself fluently in German has truly made Germany feel like my second home.

Same with me. I am in Belgium past many years. Learning Dutch language seemed to be herculian task. But now speak , read and write quiet fluent. Native Belgians are always happy to see that, we take the initiative to speak the language. I made sure that I watched Dutch/ Belgian TV everyday, Dutch spoken news, went out with my Belgian colleagues, friends, to dine or drink. People are more accepting. I dont speak English here, except to tourists . Yet I do speak my mother tongue and Hindi quite good.

I totally relate to this situation. I have done my masters from Germany and currently working in a company. But, day to day german speaking is too tiring. If you are living in a small town then your life will be miserable without German. If you are planning to move to germany then please chose big cities to live. There you can find some international crowd.

Thanks for the nice video.I studied in Germany from 1959 to 1967 > I did Diplom and Doctorate in Chemistry from Technische Hochschule,Stuttgartg. It was after worls war II,there were no goof accomodation available,we had to find room in german family houses.WE had no clear information about studies,No one spoke a single word of English.Education system was different and whole day we had to work in labs,There was no Bachelor's degree and no clesar cut yearly course.we had to do all chemistry upro M.S level and the students who did MSc in India had to do organic practicals,After my doctorate I moved to Canada and am in USA for the last 50 yrs,My german was strong and I still listen to German and french podcasts daily. We were about 70 indians in the whole hochschule and about 12% did not finish the studies even in 5 to 7 years.I can go on forever writing about Germany, but itis enough this time

    1. When we go to Germany or UK will our smartphone and sim card will work there with the same plan or do we have to buy a new sim card and smartphone there?
    2. Will our bank accounts will work there like, how to withdraw money there? how can we deposit money there? how can we send money to India?
Or do we have to open a new bank account there?
    3. How and where to buy health insurance in those countries? Is it like buying health insurance on a smartphone in India?

Due to the language barrier one can’t truly immerse and assimilate into the local culture and miss the feeling of “being at home”. I studied in Germany . MS in Artificial Intelligence. Went back to India.
    1) Getting a job or internship is nearly impossible. They prefer Europeans first. And most companies want C1 level German even for IT jobs. So its a waste of money. Native-level fluency is a must.
    2) Studies are not that tough in fact much easier. They only believe in internships and company experience, however, the companies don't give internships to someone outside of EU. For immigrants they expect us to learn all those stuffs from INDIA itself.
Only 1 out of 12 INDIANS from my batch got a job in Germany. Rest all went back. Its not easy now.
    3) There is no guarantee of jobs. In India even if you are graduate of a tier 4 university , you can get an entry level software engg. job. In Germany just forget. Unless you have 5+ years of relevant ex.
    4) Food is costly. And in some cities it cost up to 800 Euroes for rent.
    5) Salaries are not high. Even 5years experience guy can barely get 40k. You can live much comfortably in India if earning 8 LPA+ .
    6) Getting a doctor appointment is very difficult. They won't treat you unless you are dying.
    7) GERMANS are racist. I don't have any friend despite living there for 3 years. No one will talk to you properly in your classroom. If there are group assignments the colleagues will tell you to do it alone. They only hang out with EUROPEANS.
    8) Food is shit. And too costly. Not much option apart from Bread and Beef.
    9) For IT it won't make any sense. All assignments and exams are based on KAGGLE so just compy paste work. And you will learn more by doing some online coaching from Bengaluru than coming here. In Germany they won't teach you anything.
    10) I guess the masters is just for money making as GERMAN govt rely on student rent and food expenses. Already the economy is going down.
    11) Mobile internet sucks. Barely 2G speed.
    12) Transportation sucks. Only 1 bus after 1 hour.
    13) Its cold most of the time.
    14) People steal your stuff. Especially the "BLACK "guys. I had fight with my roommates as he used to steal my food. DOn't share room with "BLACK" guys.

India needs to follow Germany rules.
    1. They use German language, no English & they don't feel inferior about that.
    2. Germans needs to pay more taxes but they get all insurance benefits.
3.they follow strict rules, either traffic, silence, Sunday rest, no overtime.
    4. Education system is based on educating students, not business based.
    5. They use cars & bycycle. Less pollution.

People say that these German's are outspoken, but I contradict their statement because German's have a habit of twisting and turning things. They expect you to work perfectly although they won't say it. Things seem so monotonous and lifeless here. Being an Indian is quite tough here! Racism is at its peak, specially for indians. UK is always better than Germany. I was planning to go to Germany on early 2020. But couldn’t able to go due to pandemic. But i had done extensive research. German people are rude and too straight forward which is absolutely difficult to tolerate. And the language and lack of Strong Indian/Asian community is actually not tolerable in the long term for desi people.
But now i am in the UK and I am quite happy. People are incredibly well behaved. There is no language problem. Very strong Indian community. Cricket!! And let me make it clear, tax is much much higher in Germany than UK. Because the pound is much stronger than Euro so overall it is a no brainer between Germany and UK.
For travellers/show off people Germany and European countries are better.
