    Glad you're back !!!! The money is more in away of a Thank you which, I think, Coach appreciates. Coach got them to vastly improve the quality of the food at the cafeteria not only for his team but for all the teams at CU. SO that is part of it too. CU is putting money back into the program giving coach a bigger budget for hiring better coaches to help him. There is more involved than the 250k.

    Actually, this will help him. As soon as he wins a bowl game or gets into the CFP, his team will have even more leverage to get a new contract maybe 2 years early that will catapult him way way way past what he's making now. In other words, they'll be more prepared to unanimously agree to overpay him based on the quality that he delivers. I predict his next contract will be a multi-year, nine-figure deal with a huge amount guaranteed. So let them pay him "a lil bitty" extra bonus now...cause him and his accountant are coming. Facts.

    First of all, Deion isn't exactly hurting for money. The $250K is a nice gesture, and an acknowledgement of what he is doing for the entire school, not just the football program. I still have a feeling that he will stay a minimum of 5 years to make sure that there is a solid foundation in place that will outlast the next 2 head coaches. I hope that there is solid defense and a better o-line to keep Shedeur upright and given a chance to win more than they lose.

    I have questions - 1) What is state law regarding discretionary bonuses for state employees? Are they capped? 2) What fund is this bonus being paid from (some pies are bigger than others)? Is it from the General CU fund? Or the athletic budget? When Coach Prime was hired he said he was good on money and that was not a thing in his hiring. Was there an understanding between Rick George and Coach Prime that the school would keep the majority of any money made from marketing? Remember, CU has been operating mostly in the red for a while and it was not that long ago employees in the Athletic Dept. had to be let go. The CU Athletic Dept. at this moment in time needs all the money it can get especially with new economic challenges directly on the horizon.
    Bottom line, if Coach Prime is good, I'm good.

    Not in the slightest. The contract he signed he had to finesse the rest of the money given Colorado didn't have the money upfront. The AD gives him everything and anything he wants within reason. They didn't need to give him anything and he still would have been alright. The reality is that CU gave Prime the opportunity to expand his brand which he has done with fidelity. He not only makes more money through his own branding but continuously through CU so that his staff and players are paid. The bonus is more like you have everything you could ever want but we want to say thank you for an amazing year in CU. My man is blessed he not worried about the size of the bonus or a bonus at all.

    I respect your page and viewpoint but your premise is undermined by your stats:
    * 4x media money
    * CBS, ABC and NBC national games
    * Economic impact on local economy to the tune of millions.
    Now add in:
    * Enrollment applications up for 2024
    * Colorado actually WAS COURTED and wanted in the Big 12 only because of Deion
    * 400% increase in wins from previous year
    * Spring Game sold out and televised - OVER Alabama & Georgia. But you couldn't give the tickets away the year before
    * Colorado vs Colorado State brought 9 million viewers- when NOBODY (except loyal Buff fans) cared
    I give the AD respect for even making the "gesture" to Deion. But in terms of what he did for the moribund, last place and irrelevant CU squad from the year before, the resurrection to respectable to even nationally acknowledged will be studied in communication and business courses in years to come. Then when you include, he brought Travis Hunter WITH HIM, who is now the face of the hottest sports video game on every campus right now, EASports NCAA football, Deion's impact is 15x what they "gave" him. He is worth 5 times his contract - and the bonus.

    • @alpinegaragesports2155
      @alpinegaragesports2155  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I dont disagree with you. But, it was a perfect storm with both parties. CP made a significant amount of extra money at CU vs JSU. There is a specialness about CU that no other university would have had. If he went to Florida, I personally don’t think it would have been the same distinctness as the expectation at Florida is different. What I’m saying is, both won.

    • @number1chiefROKKA
      @number1chiefROKKA 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@alpinegaragesports2155 Again, I respectfully disagree on two fronts. First, throwing speculation aside about what “might have” happened at Florida is an apples to broccoli comparison. Meaning there is no comparing the whirlwind that just happened at CU last year - nobody could have done what Prime did for Colorado. Think about, it Colorado sold out a spring game that they could not fill a section with the previous year. And ESPN chose to cover CU over Alabama and Georgia. Because you have seen Prime for a year now a lot people forget how nonexistent CU was on the college football landscape. Florida’s was not as destitute, in shambles as CU last year. So the rise to relevance and respectability would not have been the Herculean feat you just saw at Colorado. CBS and ESPN were fighting for parking spots on the same day to cover Colorado. No school had that. Florida was still getting 5 stars, still a respected, yet flawed, name in college football. CU was dead. Secondly, with Shedeur and Travis and with the transfer portal at his disposal to get more Florida boys…I dare say it would have been equal or more insane. Because Florida would not have been a complete tear down job so the winning may have come easier. And realistically, because we have empirical data to base this on, if CU vs CSU drew 9 million- and outside of the bowl games - was one of the top watched games in ALL of college football last year…what would the ratings have been with Prime at Florida going up against FSU, Georgia and LSU - and he was competitive or won two of those games. Lolol. You couldn’t even compare the seismic eruption in ratings and Primes popularity would have been to what he got at CU. Trust me it would dwarf what just happened in Boulder this year - and that’s saying a lot. But, again, I respect your position and your passion for CU. I just have the data already to realistically extrapolate it to what Prime has already done.

    If this scenario was playing out at an elite program I’d say he’s getting ripped off. But the CU program has been starving for funds. There is big investment needed to establish the program in the first couple years. When/if his contract is renewed I think the program’s $ coffers will be healthy and they should make him the highest paid coach in the country.
    With all that said, Coach has been clear he’s not there for just the $. His deals with Nike, KFC, et al make him more money than CU will ever pay him.

    It’s also based upon facts and truth. Ask the question: Would Colorado have had the monetary success with any other coaching hire? Would they have the notoriety and high profile, even with a loosing record, without Coach Prime? That’s how valuable Coach Prime is AND WOULD BE WHEREVER HE COACHES! Prime is more than fulfilling and out performing his current contract. WHEN THE TEAM HAS A WINNING RECORD AND WINS A BOWL GAME, AND THE TURNAROUND IS COMPLETE, RICK HAD BETTER TEAR UP PRIME’S CONTRACT AND BE PREPARED TO PAY HIM 8-9 MILLION/YEAR! Because Coach Prime has proven that he’s worth that, and considering what he’s done in marketing, even more! $250,000 for what Prime has done, RICK PLEASE!

That bonus that we’re discussing, though well intentioned, WAS INDEED A SLAP IN THE FACE compared to the AMOUNT OF REVENUE AND MARKETING DOLLARS you correctly outlined! SI was absolutely correct! What I think would have been fair, significant and commensurate with Coach Prime has produced, WOULD HAVE BEEN TO GIVE PRIME ONE MILLION DOLLARS, HALF OF THE TWO MILLION DOLLARS SIGNING BONUS GIVEN TO COLORADO BY THE BIG 12! If not for Coach Prime and the attention and marketing, COLORADO WOULD NOT HAVE LEAD THE EXPANSION OF THE BIG12 AND THE BREAK UP OF THE PAC 10! The money he got as a bonus is probably the left over money from recruiting expenses. Coach prime is the table, the bonuses are based on slave economics, if he is not compensated proportionately Colorado will leave room for others to make offers. This is why all industries are dying, one day that number will flip the other way, who is receiving the other 98.5%, for doing nothing, that is the question. The same was done to Michael Jordan, he built Nike. After the wins, and year 3, Prime should demand 25%-33% or leave.

    • @alpinegaragesports2155
      @alpinegaragesports2155  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Cortez, I respect your take. 5.5m per year is likely not Salve Economics. It is also the highest salary a head coach at Colorado has earned and is laden with bonuses for performance. As a CEO- I would agree. As a Coach- let’s win some more games and let a perfect storm brew.

    • @cortezforever

      @@alpinegaragesports2155 Hi, I don’t mean ‘slave economics’ in the way you may think. When comparing Coach Prime’s $5.5 million salary to other coaches’, it seems fair. However, Coach Prime is a unicorn-a unique talent. After he produces results, his business manager should renegotiate back pay for all revenue generated that was not part of the initial deal. If they refuse, he should consider leaving. As a CEO, you’re aware that even companies like Google and OpenAI have top-tier employees leaving for competing startups.
