I know this is a Halloween thing, but you're also going to love Hot Fuzz. The next in the Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy. (Because Cornetto, the ice cream, is always somewhere in the movie.) "You've got red on you." 😉
Simon Peggy, Nick Frost and Jessica Hynes came together for a sitcom called Spaced before this, also directed by Edgar Wright. There's a particular episode with a zombie scene that got them thinking movie wise...
The quick cut editing style of Edgar Wright is so fun. I have to recommend Hot Fuzz because it's personally my favorite in the trilogy. Train to Busan is a 2016 South Korean zombie movie that is really good. His film Baby Driver has so much action and so much music that is choreographed with the action on screen.
The DVD of this came with extra content and it was revealed that Dianne survived by fighting through the horde with David's leg then climbing up a tree and surviving by eating the meat from his leg until they were dealt with by the army.
The fact you said you should have a gummy took you up a few levels on my fave TH-camr list. You look so innocent and dropped the gummy while watching a classic. Much love and respect from Down Under. ✌🏻
Wow!! Shawn of the dead is such a classic in the horror zombie movie universe!! Glad you reacted to it!!😃😃 This is the movie that made me discover Simon Pegg and I've been a fan since then!!
The next movie in the "Cornetto Trilogy" "Hot Fuzz" is really smart and funny too, def worth a reaction! This was fun thanks!😁😁🎃🎃🦇🦇🐈⬛🐈⬛👻👻happy Halloween!
07:45 "She broke up with him. ... She wants him to change too much. He doesn't want to change. It's usually a sign." Perfect analysis of a large portion of relationship issues. 👍🌟 19:24 "Mum back there on side quests." 😂 When your through with explicitly spooky movies: Another excellent comedy with Simon Pegg as the main protagonist, Edgar Wright as the director, and a bunch more of the actors you've seen in this one: "Hot Fuzz". A must see for everyone interested in really well done comedy.
If you ask me this movie easily has the most realistic scenario for a zombie situation. Zombies take over the streets for a day or two but then as soon as the military/army gets involved it's all done with and over. No way are the army losing to a bunch of slow moving corpses. Any time a zombie movie suggests the army lost to slow zombies I can't help but laugh
True. Which is why i love the lore behind it in the game Projekt Zomboid. The military there didn't lose to slow zombies, they lost because the virus developed an airborn strain and according to the news you can hear when you start on day 1, 95% of the soldiers got infected at some point. So the only ones alive would be those few poor souls who are resistant or immune to the airborne strain after a while. Might still have it's flaws, but is a far better explanation than simply being overrun.
Movies like this are one of the many reasons I love following along with your react journey, and discovering these movies I’d never thought of watching before. Knowing the type of humor in this film, it was never something I thought I’d be interested in. But, knowing you were going to react to it, I decided to give it a chance a few weeks ago, and was so pleasantly surprised!. This is some absolutely genius comedy writing. So unserious, but also so intense at times for absolutely no reason 🤣 And the acting was so good too! Amazing Also, like you, I went into this movie not knowing how scary it would be, or if it was even a horror movie really, and I have to say the first 30 minutes were so well done. Constantly teasing us and baiting us into thinking something was going happen with the zombies LOL Gotta say, you also nailed the song choice for the intro 😂
Dianne climbs a tree and stays out of reach of the z-words until the army cleans up. So she is another survivor. A cornetto is the conical ice cream treat. In this movie Simon Pegg gets a red cornetto. In Hot Fuzz he gets a blue cornetto. In The World's End, a green cornetto. So these are known as the Cornetto Triology. They have nothing in common except the director, actors, and a cornetto is eaten.
Simon Peg and Penelope Wilton, who played Shaun's mother, have both been on Doctor Who. If you really loved this, you should watch Anna and the Apocalypse. It is a zombie-Christmas-musical comedy. The songs are great, Ella Hunt, who plays Anna, was amazing, and seeing Anna taking out zombies with a giant candy cane decoration was hilarious. Think I will watch it again before bed tonight.
Love that you are taking your first steps in Zombie movies. But you may have missed a lot of easter eggs and call outs throughout the movie. Simon Pegg is a huge George Romero fan, and there are numerous references to Georges Night of the Living Dead collection of movies. Maybe a return if and when you get some more zombie flicks under your belt!!!
Kali, please play Beyond: Two Souls, it's made by the same people who made Detroit: Become Human and has some really heavy moments. You won't regret it
Ya, more movie notes! Shaun of the Dead is actually my least favourite of the Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End), but that sounds worse than it is, since the movie is still great! Just not a fan of zombie movies in general, even though this one hardly even qualifies XD I can definitely recommend watching the other two as well. I like Hot Fuzz the best of the three (and it's one of my favourite movies full stop). Shaun of the Dead is already really good, but in my opinion, Hot Fuzz comes as close to perfection in pacing, writing and editing as I've ever seen in a movie. Carefuly with that red on you and see you soon ;)
I love this film, I have rewatched it so many times and found new things to laugh at each time.. I like the jogger shaun passes, once just out having a run, the next time sprinting like a bat out of hell. A couple of other horror comedies you might consider\like, not as good as this one but still fun ... Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse. 2015. Shaun-esque. American made. Even Lambs Have Teeth. 2015, Texas Chainsaw\hills have eyes-esque. French-Canadian made. Black Sheep. 2006 werewolf-esque. New Zealand made. (Probably not reaction worthy unless your patreons insist on it though.) If you haven't seen it, Tucker & Dale Vs Evil. Now that is a good film, almost as good as Shaun.
Probably too late for more Halloween/October movies, but some other not-so-scary options (perhaps for next year?): Ernest Scared Stupid, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Happy Death Day, Ravenous, Teen Wolf, and Once Bitten and of course, I assume others have told you about Hot Fuzz and "Scott Pilgrim vs the World". I'm not sure which I prefer... both are brilliant. You'll love them both. (I see I'm the only one to mention "Scott Pilgrim vs the World"? I guess because you asked for Simon Pegg; Scott Pilgrim is directed by Edgar Wright, the guy who directed the Cornetto trilogy, you'll recognize the editing style and humor even without Pegg.) Also, Se7en is more thriller than horror, but that's a great movie too. (Not remotely graphic, but Fincher conveys some pretty gnarly ideas by instead alluding to them... it's iconic.)
I'm not a big horror fan, but other than those 5 I mention (plus Shaun of the Dead), Scream and Cabin in the Woods are both great. BUT both play with genre conventions in such a way that I think knocking out the more iconic/classic/genre defining ones will help you appreciate them so much more, so I'd definitely recommend watching the big ones before hitting those two. (I think Scream stands alone better than Cabin in the Woods... both are definitely enjoyable without that background, but you'll get a lot more out of them if you're more familiar with the classics.)
And finally: some great under-the-radar movies that are beloved by those who have watched them, but not enough people have watched them: Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lucky Number Slevin, Walk Hard
I like anything Simon Pegg is in. You'll probably wanna see Hot Fuzz next but one he did that's weird and different is called A Fantastic Fear of Everything.
My understanding of Cornetto is that it's to England what a Drumstick is to us Americans. It's never officially called the Cornetto Trilogy, but I know Nick Frost's character through-out the series is fond of them, even though he plays a different character in each film. Each film contains the same stars (Simon Pegg & Nick Frost) and Director (Edgar Wright) and will frequent much of the supporting casts. but they are different stories. Each film in the trilogy is an homage to a different genre: 'Shaun of the Dead' is horror with a bit of romantic comedy 'Hot Fuzz' is an action film with a bit of mystery 'The World's End' is a suspense film with a thriller angle. 'Hot Fuzz' is the high watermark for mark for me. If you loved the writing in 'Shaun of the Dead,' the writing in 'Hot Fuzz' is even better.
Oh also, random fact that I completely forgot to comment earlier: The game on the PS2 that Ed is playing in their home is Timesplitters! One of my favorite games of the early 2000's era. Me and my sister would sink sooooo many hours into that game after school, playing multiplayer or co-op missions! The sound of the bullets instantly triggered my memories 🤣
BlackBeards Ghost would make for a great reaction for this season. Don't worry it's not scary. It's a Disney film from the 1960s. Really warm cosy family friendly vibes. I promise you , You would love it. :)
- The weapon Shaun used from his shed was a Cricket bat. - The phrase one of the group used, "hold hands like a crocodile" refers to the method of keeping a class of young school children together on a school field trip by having them all hold hands in a line. I've no idea why it's a crocodile of all animals. Haha I hope you react to the other 2 movies in the Cornetto trilogy. - Hot Fuzz - The World's End
One little factoid and one big fact: 1) Not 911....in the UK the emergency line is 999; 2) the next movie in the Cornetto trilogy, "Hot Fuzz", is hilarious and you must watch it.
If you want a great 'zombie' movie thats not too intense have a look at the original, 'Night of the living dead' by george a romero, his trilogy is the inspiration for them all! Def check out the series 'Spaced' that came before this, even if its not for online, it's great british telly.....👍 & If you you take a liking to the telly side of things have a look at 'Black Books', 'Greenwing' & 'Psychoville'😉
Good Morning Kali…I enjoyed your reaction to this movie. You should try watching Zombieland and maybe the second one as well. They are both my favorite movies and funny at the same time. You’re almost at 25k subs and here’s to many more. You deserve it. Happy Spooky Season and we’re getting closer to Halloween. October is my favorite month of the year. And you look pretty. Keep up the amazing work and have a good day today. Enjoy your Monday. 👍💯
If you enjoyed this one you should watch the none horror themed movies with nick frost and Simon pegg called Hot Fuzz and The Worlds End both as funny.
This woman does sound like a nightmare tbh, never wants you to be with your friends and always wants to fill your time up with something. What is wrong with just being happy with what you have? If I were him I'd be asking Dianne if she wants to give it a shot as she seems like less maintenance. I had this conversation with a girlfriend once as she kept wanting me to "better" myself. I don't want to be paid more, my job allows me to work from 7:30 until 12:30 and then I clock off and go home. Why would I want to work more hours to get paid more to live less? So I can afford a Ferrari? I don't want one, I'm happy with my 2007 Mazda that has 230,000 miles on the clock.... Anyways rant over I think Liz is the real nightmare of this film lol.
I also am not a horror fan, not because I'm easily scared, just that most of them are awful movies with either cheap jump scares, over the top gore, torture porn, or attractive teenagers making the dumbest decisions. This, along with a few exceptions is one of the actuall quality horror films. And becasue of that, along with the fact that you seem to be avoiding the dumb "spooky season" trope that most youtubers that are desperate for clicks have fallen in to every October, I gave this video a like. We'll get it sorted at the Winchester
“Im sorry Shaun”…

Yarp!
The second in Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy, 'Hot Fuzz' , is probably the best of the three.
"Is that a paddle?"
Cricket bat.

Very fun reaction! Subscribing for more. Definitely going to echo others in the comments recommending Hot Fuzz
Hot Fuzz next you'll love it. By the same team.
Fun fact: Shaun's flatmate is played by Peter Serafinowicz. Best known as the voice of Darth Maul.
This and Hot Fuzz are my favorite Simon Pegg movies. The editing is so snappy and intelligent

You should have a Patreon or a TH-cam member exclusive were you eat a gummy and watch something appropriate to the energy lol
LOL 🤔 I can see this
I've been to the Winchester on Halloween... we dr3ssed up as the cast and went there before a party it was class

There are three perfect scripts:
