Idk why people get pressed when someone says Mariah lost her voice. Her voice is not half as good as it used to be, and that's okay, she's 46 years old. The voice she once had is never going to be forgotten, her success didn't come from nowhere, and it's not going anywhere. She's made her mark in the industry, and she'll continue to do so even now.
Her voice is more than half way there. Of course she doesn't sound like how she first did but her voice isn't completely gone. She still sounds the same. She just doesn't do as much as she did in the 1990s. Which is add in all those extra whistles, which ppl loved and always expect. But her voice is most definitely more than half way there.
I’m also sure if she wasn’t performing as regularly as she has been the past few year she could put more effort into her notes, I’m not saying she doesn’t anyway but she doesn’t want to fuck them nodes by doing too much with other shows to be done down the line. Still a better live singer then a lot of these 20 something’s in the charts at 46 😍

John Ardona Every singer always needs a vocal coach to keep their voice healthy. I think Mariah is still a great talent that needs to heal her voice for a few years to come back better. Maybe she's lost her great voice now, but in that case she should either stop trying to hit notes that damage her and start singing different songs, healthier for her vocal abilities, or just stop singing in general because the public expectations of her voice are not healthy for her right now. She sang *waaay* too much in her time, it's normal that she's worked her voice out and can't sing like she's 20 something today. She's really not the best anymore, and that's the sad truth for every singer. Vocal cords are just muscles after all. You need to work out to keep them from sagging even when you're older. But too much and you'll damage your muscles, maybe even permanently.
Irem Y. yeah, she is no longer at her best today, especially what had happened in this most recent event she had performed. To the point she actually did not sing at all. Well, I'd still love her.

It also (if you weren’t a big fan and wouldn’t know her other performances) would be weird for her to lip to the studio version on the first whistle and then do the harder ones live.
Obviously she can't sing this song the way it was meant to be in 1991, but at the same time, the changes she's made to the song sound good and modern and fit her voice quite well as it stands. That she is adaptable makes her more impressive to me.
Clarence Cabanero I completely agree. I’m a tenor and as I’m aging (44), I realize I need to readjust my approach, keys, tone, etc to accommodate my voice at this age. I can’t do same the runs with ease like I used to be able to. But I adjust and do what I can and it comes off as a polished, powerful performance... not “trying too hard” and coming up short. Most singers who can’t adjust with age are fooling themselves. It’s the same as gaining weight but refusing to get a bigger size. You can still look awesome if you wear something that compliments you and enhances your best features. :)
I respect that Mariah Carey ALWAYS sings live, never lip syncing, because she loves what she does. Her style changing with the times. She is a Music Godess and I'm Fortunate to have been born in this lifetime while she is here.
