Badaga is a purely kannada word meaning North.. Most of the words are of kannada language.. So i guess long back southern part of karnataka people have migrated to Neelgiri portion.. Hence they got name Badaga because for Niligiri, South karnataka becomes North.. Really felt happy with their culture, language which is still holding it's roots..
