Don’t start like North Indian people. They say all the Indian languages came from Sanskrit. We tribals have individual language, custom and traditions. We are not Tamil people. All languages in India have words from Sanskrit, Tamil, Kannada etc but it doesn’t mean it’s all same. Pls don’t bring your dirty politics among us.
Our ancestors doesn’t know Tamil at all but after independence the schools had mandatory Tamil language so we learnt Tamil.
Why so much hate towards tamil? I think your language resembles more of kannada!!! Your today language is not a distinct language it is a mixture of tamil, kannada and your own words!!! @@RockStar-el6wr
@@monishasekar4716 Not hate towards Tamil. It is the hate towards people who are trying to put us down. Have your Tamil Nadu done anything towards the development of our tribal languages? Our languages are in dying stage, it wouldn’t exist in next 100 years. Do they have documented our language? Any research in universities? You are fighting for funds from central government for Tamil language. Central government gives 50 crores for research and development of Tamil but TN govt haven’t spent 1 rupee for our languages. Andra government has started Multi Lingual education system including all tribal languages. But TN govt haven’t done anything to our languages. Now your new political leaders started like only Tamils only can rule TN so what about us? If so then split Nilgiris as separate state and you have your own CM. We don’t want to be second class citizens. Even see your mindset, how can you say our language is mixture of Tamil, Kannada etc? So can’t be Tamil and Kannada be mixture of Toda, Kota, Badaga etc? Just because of more number of people? Sanskrit was spoken by 50k people only but Hindi is spoken by 50 crores but age of Sanskrit is 3000 years atleast and age of Hindi is 500 years only. Our languages has more Kannada words because before British Invasion, Nilgiris was under Mysore dynasty. Any language in the world especially in India can exists without words from other languages and it doesn’t mean, they are not unique.

It’s because First British person visited Nilgiris at 1818 and first Tamil speaking person visited us around 1850 only. That too to help Britishers. British people laid land, constructed schools, hospitals, schools, dams, lake, tea gardens, English vegetable such as carrot, beetrooot etc, provided us everything. Ruled us for 150 years. But Nilgiris was with Tamil Nadu after independence only. But no development at all and it’s all corrupted. Now making our land as real estate area and tourist area. We don’t want you please leave us alone and Will keep our land and culture virgin.

I hail from the mountains and am very proud of the ancient culture sustained here!
A lot more study and research is due with the tribes of the hills! The mountains are home to many secrets concerning medical practices which are passed down the generations by only word of mouth. Kudos to Gopinath for making the effort to visit these places.
