After searching/googling for months, your video although out of focus in some parts as im sure you know by now has answered so many of my questions. Thank you so much. I think your content is fantastic and the speed at which you explain things is great. This will help so many others like myself that are still learning.
Jass, Could the remote be used on bulb by holding down the button. I am trying to take images of the stars/milkyway and longest my lense will stay open for is 30s then the next option is bulb. If I was to use the remote on the bulb function by holding it down for how ever long I wanted would this work?
I bought a wireless remote for my EOS-M. Forums said that I needed the RC-6, but the device instructions said it emulated an earlier remote models. I thought Amazon lied to me. I checked youtube to see if it was user-error, because I didn't see anything in the menu settings. Thank you for this! It's a God-send!
Honestly thank you so much for this video! All day of reading the manual and googling and not once did anywhere mention to enable the remote in video mode! Thank you thank you thank you!!
Not sure why so many people have given you thumbs down. Your video is exactly what I was after. I was beginning to think that the remote control didn't work. All sorted out thanks to you. Canon eos kiss x3 and rc6 remote btw.
Newharish Kala many thanks for your kind comments and I'm glad it worked. This was my first debut TH-cam video and those with negative feedback were more concerned about the quality of my video and me not focusing properly. To be honest I just quickly wanted to put something up to help others and wasn't bothered about being super HD flashy lol. Thanks again 😀
Great tips but I was wondering if you can focus while in video mode before you start recording thats the main reason I bought the remote.I have the canon 600d with the kit lens.I also tried taking a photo in 0 and 2 but my lens wont focus I have to do it manually
***** Hey thanks for liking the Video. That is strange because when you move the switch to 0 on the remote the lens should auto focus and take a picture. Once the pic has taken you can then switch it back to 2 and start recording. Is your lens set to manual or auto adjust? As that could be the culprit. Let me know how you get on.
Hi, I thought my RC6 remote was broken, I even replaced the battery!! But Big Thanks, I'd completely forgotten how to set up my RC 6 remote for my Canon 700d, priceless video I can now use my remote.
I thought my remote was broken when I received it. Your directions really helped me. Now, I feel really confident about using the remote and taking self portraits. Thank you 👏👏👍👍🎊
BeautybyLish I've not tried this yet but I presume that if you switched the remote to position back to 0 (not 2) and pressed the button it should focus and take a still picture - once focused switch it back to position 2 and start filming. I'll give it a go and let you know if it works
exactly what I needed to understand how to use a 'knock off' transmitter; I just had to replace the battery in the unit and it fixed my issue. Good video!
Jass - £5 for a remote that might not work, £15 for a real one that does. Its not rocket science! If you could only get it in focus this would be the best tutorial on the subject, even now in 2020 on an EOS D80.
Thank your for filming this, very useful! I'm just struggling with figuring out if its also possible to focus with this remote while filming? As I do not have any assistance in filming my videos, I have a hard time to set the focus right.
Hey Rubina, glad you found it useful. To focus before filming switch it back to zero and take a still picture. Then switch remote back to the '2' position to start filming. If you have autofocus enabled on your lens then it will try to focus on the subject sharpest in view. If whilst filming you don't want it to keep autofocusing all the time then maybe worth setting the lens on manual focus. Hope that helps? Jass
Jazz V thank you for the video. It helped me soooo much. I bought the I remote control for Canon VELLO. I had it for months and couldn't get it to work with my Canon t5i. I watched your video and in a few minutes I got it to work. Thank you. I was about to purchase another remote. thanks!!!!!!!!!
+Valerie Rollocks hey Valerie! Thank you so much for your kind comments :-) Glad my tutorial came in use & that you didn't have to purchase another remote. Happy filming!
Hey Jass - thanks for taking the time to make this video buddy. I had the pics working but spent an hour trying to get the video to work! Cheers for helping me out :)
Thanks for sharing this helpful video! Question! Does the remote allow the camera to auto focus during recording? I saw how it turns the recording on and off, but I couldn't tell if you were actually focused. Do you still have to have the focus set first?
hi Krystle. Glad you found it useful. Unfortunately the remote wouldn't allow you to auto focus whilst recording. You can switch the remote to the standard picture mode first and take a picture as that will let the lens focus on you. Then you can switch it to the video mode to start filming. One advice would be to maybe set your lens from AF to MF (manual focus) so that was the lens doesn't keep losing focus if thats what you're getting.Hope that helps?
Ok thanks! I'm it's the lighting right? Also I wanted to take a picture of my eyes for makeup and I can zoom in the picture but how do I keep it zoomed in kind of like cropping? Thanks so much!
Yes, the lighting is important. I know ring lights are popular amongst those who do beauty channels as they give you a nice glow. I know you can get macro lens which are used for close-ups. If you have a zoom lens you may need to set the lens on manual focus so that way it doesn't keep trying to focus. For example take a pic of your eyes like normal and once it's taken a picture and it's not blurry you can switch from AF to MF on the lens. That way it will stay zoomed if that makes sense?
A ring light should be fine but you don't want to use it at full power as there will be harsh lighting otherwise. I personally prefer softboxes as they appear to give you more of a soft natural looking light and can come in handy for other things light product photography. I think it's all about trialling out different positions of your lights and ensuring your camera on a tripod or something if you're doing tutorials on makeup.
Fab video, I've had this remote for about a year and had no idea how to make it work...many tx :) Am one of Nishi's new subbies and just want to say the two of you are lovely :) Take care
EXCELLENT!!!!!!Than k YOU!!!! I thought I was doing something wrong, and then I watched your video. THANK YOU>>>>> Then I thought the remote was faulty. IT works fine, it's the operator. PLS make more tutorials, you are straight to the point and I like that. Clear and concise
+Jass V hey Jass, thx 4 the reply. Looking for a tutorial on how to quickly change the fstop (like the old 35mmfilm cameras it was on the lense) I have to stop, figure out which menu to change it, etc...Any tips on how to get there easier would be wonderful. I really like your "lets get to the point" method of instruction. More please :=D thank you so much
hey Jass, hope all is well. Please disregard last comment, I discovered the wheel(how handy is that thing) I thought of something cool and seems like something you would like to do...Reversing the lense for macro, how to get a different size lense to fit the camera in reverse/ Or how many fstops per click on the variable ND filter.. Sound like a better idea? And here is one too...adjusting an altimeter to also use as a wired remote. (sometimes the included directions are in broken english and don't a whole lot of sense) Cheers, hope you are well, thanks,Liz
hey Liz very sorry for the delayed reply. Wow, that really seems interesting and I will need to try that. I will try to get more tutorials done - sorry I've been focusing on other things recently
hey Jass, no worries, just glad to hear your ok. Life happens, and we cant always have time for fun and hobbies. I sent back that altimeter, will save up for a good one with directions that make sense.
Not sure about the 750D - I need to check the spec on that camera. Usually if it has an infra-red port then most likely it will. As this remote works with all the models I've tried that supper wireless remotes.
Thank you so much for creating this video! This helped me out a TON. We have the same remote and I thought it was a waste, since I could not figure out how to record with it.
cameraparts4you That's a good question - If it can, then both camera's need to be in range of the infra red signal. I'll give this a try myself and let you know the results :-)
Thanks for such an informative video. My camera arrives in a couple of days and I am searching for remotes now. I will have to give the remote you featured a try. Thanks again.
+archiew sorry my fault I thought you meant the t5i. The T5 doesn't have the infrared port at the front meaning it won't work wireless. Sorry about the confusion. The wired RS-60E3 remote should work.
Thanks for this great video! I just got the same remote in the mail. Wasn't sure if it could - or how - to make it trigger the video run control - and it does! Thanks to you. I was ready to think it only triggered stills. Great to know I can trigger video, now that you showed me how. Thank You! (Paid only $6 Cdn, and it took about 5 weeks to arrive from China to Toronto area. Great purchase people. And the local dollar store sold me a 4 pack of these batteries for only a couple of bucks!)
PHANTOMST4R sorry for the late reply. I've since sold this ring light and got a bigger one that attaches to a stand rather than the camera. Neewer brand.

Thank you Ahuvi 😊 happy filming!
I have got to say that your video HELPED me to figure out to use the remote control I recently purchased.... THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hey Christine, I am glad my clip come to some use. Have fun with the self portraits :-)
The only tutorial that explains how to enable it for video! Thank you so much!
thanks so much for sharing this video. it's really help
I was beginning to think that this remote does not control video for the 80D, but I never tried switching to video mode! Thanks a bunch!
Pretty simple, but still I wouldn't have known how to use this if it wasn't for this video, thanks a lot man!
+GIANCARLO C you're welcome Giancarlo! Glad it came in use :-)
Thank you so much. Really helped me set mine up.
You’re welcome - glad it helped 😊
This is helpful but is they a way to make it focus on you (like it would if u pressed the shutter button halfway on ur actual camera)
While making videos
BeautybyLish I've not tried this yet but I presume that if you switched the remote to position back to 0 (not 2) and pressed the button it should focus and take a still picture - once focused switch it back to position 2 and start filming. I'll give it a go and let you know if it works
Thanks for ur reply. I got my remote about two weeks ago & figured it out :). Yes that is how I did it and it works!
The explanation and visuals worked very well together. This is an excellent presentation on how to use the RC-6 wireless remote.
exactly what I needed to understand how to use a 'knock off' transmitter; I just had to replace the battery in the unit and it fixed my issue. Good video!

thanks bud! A bit drawn out, but it is explained well and an informative video. made me happy to use my remote with your help.

A great video by Jass Vilkhu about using the remote to control the camera! Well explained and very helpful! Thanks jassv!
Thank you so much Karisma Kawol for the kind comments. Glad you found it useful :-)

A very straightforward and useful video thank you

Awesome bro
Excellent - Only tutorial that is so simple
Thank you 😊
Finally! Thanks dude. Remote has to be on "2" for video. Now if I can only remember that
This was the best tutorial I've seen for this thing. Thanks!
Thank you so much 😀

From where you bought the led light thats on your camera lens
Does this work with Canon Rebel t5??? Thanks for any replies!
Yes, this would work with this model too as its very similar to the one in this video :-)
+Jass V But the T5 dosen't have WiFI? will it still work?
+archiew sorry my fault I thought you meant the t5i. The T5 doesn't have the infrared port at the front meaning it won't work wireless. Sorry about the confusion. The wired RS-60E3 remote should work.
good video, thanks not sure if you knew but the video is slightly out of focus. But I got what I wanted.

Hey Tiffany, glad you found it useful. You wanted to know how to make skin look smoother when doing videos? I don't have a video on that unfortunately but I know some use filters but I would advise against it as you want your audience to see the true image if that make sense :-)
Thanks bro! Useful info in 2020
Thanks so much, you made this soooooo simple. Almost thought mine was a dud.
+BiContinental Life&Style You're welcome! :-) Glad it came in use! Happy filming!
