Thank you all responders and their families for your hard work! Thank you President Biden and FEMA for being setup and ready prior to this horrible event.

We live in AVL and we just want to say thank you to the volunteers, FEMA, rescue personnel, and the Democratic government for declaring the federal emergency so we can all get the help we need right now; without FEMA or disaster unemployment, we would be hurting far worse right now. Also a shout out to Kim Roney for being out and on the ground and communicative.
I am just sending thanks for the work, this is not meant to be a political post.
They work these people are doing is absolutely incredible. And there is so, so much more work to do. My partner probably won't be able to get to her family in Burnsville for weeks, and they live an hour away...

Our area was hit directly by hurricane Ian and this is a different thing all together. florida is flat as a pankake. I-75 was open 3 days after Ian hit not turned into a mudslide crater, most major roads were open a few days after Ian hit allowing mass transport of goods. Many communities in Florida are built to hurricane codes, the coast in much of Florida is wealthy. Western NC is basically the complete opposite in every way with mountains mudslides washouts etc..., and directing a lot of resources is going to be a lot more complicated. State and federal agencies and utility companies are the ones doing the clean up and planning not the governors.

Once cell service is restored thousands of people who saved battery power will finally be able to call for help. 10s of thousands are stranded at home with no roads in or out and no power, fresh water, food, or cell service.

Its so so much worse than what is being reported. Just today I've seen dozens of private helicopters flying into the mtns to drop supplies and rescue people. Along with a few national guard helicopters as well.

COOPER said 40 was open. The Transportation Director said he HOPES it will be open today. INTERSTATE 40 was damaged apparently at different locations - seems to be since it is part of the US INTERSTATE SYTEM that maybe using mile markers to denote where the road is CLOSED due to storm damage and where it has been repaired would help keep all on the same page. West and East traffic apparently affected at some points and only one or the other at others. The Director of Transportation said something about "NET 3 marker on 40 near the TN line" What does that mean?
Can GOOGLE EARTH help? Anyone know how old the images are on GOOGLE EARTH?

What are you doing for the isolated mountain area? I am sending you prayers Governor, the first responders, all the volunteers and of course all of those affected and Still WITHOUT HELP Also about the assistant fire chief, A man, who sent a VOLUNTEER HELIOPILOT and his helicopter, came to assist in rescuing people from the mountains. Well he rescued one Lady from the mountainside, where she and her husband were stranded. The assistant fire chief said if he returned with her husband, he would be arrested. Wow, what a shame. That was an amazing asset on the ground and to her husband. Don’t tell me about being in the way. What about all the news people running around? Think about it. People donate in ALL kinds of ways.
    Be safe all.🙏🙏❤️

Why are people still stranded after 4 days? I appreciate Gov Cooper being present and doing updates daily. I am not happy with Biden or Harris....where are they? A true leader would be doing press conferences from day one. Biden was at the beach all weekend, and Harris was at a posh fundraiser. Both are absent of all leadership qualities.

The ARMY CORP of ENGINEERS are in LITTLE WASHINGTON. IS FEMA DIRECTOR saying FEMA has their own INHOUSE ARMY CORP of ENGINEER TEAMS or is she saying Little Washington dispatched people to Asheville ahead of the storm? I hope someone checks about what prep actually happened because the news agencies were finding people all over the western part of NC including ASHEVILLE who had to go without water for over 48 hours. I have NEVER heard of that before. And I want to know why it happened this time. Who was responsible and on the ground from FEMA for staging in ASHEVILLE? And what plan was in place?
