We've sign UDFA Kentucky blocking TE Brendan Bates
Yeah, he's on there. I don't have any inclination he'll make the team. I would take Marcedes Lewis back and develop Bates on the practice squad.
I think we might try to sneak Austin Reed onto the PS. Though, I thought the same about Bagent this time last year. Rypiens value is helping Caleb understand Waldron's playbook/terminology. Maybe Bagent/Reed show out during pre-season &/or back-up duties and we eventually flip one for a pick. If we do not sign a FA DE, I can see them keeping Dominique for another season and see if E. Washington, etc can bring out his potential. I can see Randolph rotating in behind Billings this year and possibly starting in a year or two when Billings contract expires. Then again Flus likes a more athletic NT so they can create pressure when the TE motion effectively moves them into 3T/5T snap. So there's value in keeping Pickens there.
I don't know if we'll be able to, he's the Tyson Bagent of this year. Someone will steal him

Kyler Gordon was 1st in interceptions and 5th in missed tackle percentage among nicklebacks.. I think we're set up really nice with starting corners for the foreseeable future
But he allows a lot of gap and his receivers always catch the ball.
I'm not knocking Kyler, I love that he's our nickel because I do believe in him... He just need to make that jump
Yeah tyrique really rounded out that group . Terelle smith and hopefully reddy give it some needed starter quality ball hawking depth
We definitely need 2 more tight ends built like fire hydrants that are physically pancake Chefs 👨🍳 🥞 our offense was way too soft last season vs Green Bay.
Need to save around 10 million. You never know how injuries may hit

This is the best I've found: According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, NFL Chief Media and Business Officer Brian Rolapp said Tuesday that the 2024 in-season Hard Knocks will focus on an entire division rather than a single team. I can see our division been chosen with all the hype around us

I have not heard any update on Hard Knocks other than there is a lot of buzz around the Bears

at the end of the year I thought Stevenson needed some defensive rookie of the year recognition. His interceptions alone should have,.

this is how the 53-man roster should be divided among position groups:
* 3 quarterbacks
* 6 wide receivers (including punt & kick returners)
* 3 running backs
* 1 fullback
* 3 tight ends
* 4 offensive tackles
* 4 guards
* 2 centers
* 3 specialists (kicker/punter/long snapper)
* 4 defensive tackles
* 4 defensive ends
* 6 linebackers
* 6 cornerbacks (including 2 nicklebacks)
* 4 safeties
- Are you sold that we're keeping a Fullback?
- Don't be shocked if Waldron runs 4 TE's with their use in his backfield (although that looks crazy right now with us only having two)
- The Bears have never run with less than 9 Defensive Linemen on the roster. Typically 5 DE's and 4 DT's
- I can see us running 6 Linebackers instead of the 5 we typically do
@@Beardownsports If the plan was to replace FB Blasingame with a 4th TE, then why didn't Ryan Poles draft one? Blasingame looks like a roster lock @ this point.
some of the current DE's on the roster are actually built more like LB's, such as Daniel Hardy, Jacob Martin & even Austin Booker, although I do expect Booker to add significant weight.
I also find it interesting that DE Dominique Robinson weighs exactly the same as LB Noah Sewell, each 253 pounds, yet Robinson is 3 inches taller, 6'5" to 6'2". since Robinson hasn't seemed to have developed as a DE, maybe a switch to LB might lead to more success?
@@johnbrennan4449 Robinson isn't agile enough to play linebacker, and really, we're so deep at linebacker, it's a better move to just cut bait with Robinson at this point. He was a late round pick out of necessity.
We didn't have enough draft picks to take a TE and we have 2 Starting caliber TE's. TE's are used in Waldrons sets for blocking and Fullback is completely unnecessary/ I don't know why you're saying Blasengame is a lock when there isn't really a role for him on the team. I'd watch closely at roster cuts for us to target a TE. A pickup like Mo Alie-Cox and then picking back up Marcedes Lewis makes complete sense.
We don't run a 3-4. Our defensive scheme isn't changing, so we will be carrying 9 DL on the roster. I really think Jamree Kromah is a very viable option for where this team is right now and him being able to learn from DeMarcus Walker.
@@Beardownsports Bears roster currently lacks a viable TE3, let alone a viable TE4, so that is why Blasingame's roster spot seems safe @ this point, unless Poles signs 2 more tight ends who are both worthy of 53-man roster spots.
I do realize that Eberflus currently runs a 4-3 defense, with no plans to switch to a 3-4, so the signing of 3-4 OLB Jacob Martin as a free agent makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
as far as Poles not having enough draft picks to fill all of his needs, that is a poor excuse, as he had plenty of opportunities to acquire extra picks, either by trading down from this year's picks or by trading future picks.
I was a Justin Fields fan/supporter & was accused of making excuses for Fields, but I currently hear & see a lot of Bears fans making excuses for GM Ryan Poles & HC Matt Eberflus.
Bears are 10-24 under Poles & Eberflus, but most Bears fans seem to want to blame Justin for everything, while making excuses for both Poles & Eberflus.
@@johnbrennan4449 Jacob Martin is eerily similar to Yannick Ngakoue, whom I was extremely opposed to and pounded the table for us not to sign.
Adam, maybe do a video on UDFA QB Austin Reed. Watching some of his highlights reminds me...dare I say it....Jay Cutler. The way he slings it and is pretty athletic for a QB. I can definitely see him on the practice squad. Btw, take some much needed rest as you deserve it. King Poles is finding some hidden gems.

I think TB12 has proven that he is a very capable backup and is putting in the work to improve this offseason. I would definitely keep him QB2.

Adam, I am surprised that you don't know who would be better at Center between Ryan Bates and Coleman Shelton. Bates is much better, and it is not even close! After watching tape on both, I saw the physicality and nastiness that Bates showed, that he even pancaked Andrew Billings on a game against the Bears, and we all know that Billings is no chump. On the other hand, I am now impressed at all with Shelton, I saw him get bullrushed into the QB! That is a HUGE red flag in my book. I get it that Bates does not have that many snaps at Center, but he has shown dominance and savy at the position. Bates may be a better Guard than a Center, but for what the Bears need, he is a better fit for the Bears at Center.

The Bears still don't have a legit 3 Technique DT. I am not sold on Gervon Dexter.
Name a better 3 Tech in the entire league the last 1/3 of the season... I'll wait...
So how does the roster stack up compared to other teams in the division?
It all comes down to how Caleb does, but extremely well. Nobody can argue our defense is the best starters, but worrisome depth, and our offense "could" easily be #1

Please don't be offended, because I've literally gone the rounds with people on this topic. There was a singular article that called him the starting center after we signed him (BUT before we signed Shelton, who is an actual starting NFL Center) Bates is literally a backup caliber player who fans were desperate to embrace.
Respectfully, do your research before you come at me and tell me to do my research. People claim the Bears have dubbed him the starting Center because of a singular article that was written prior to Shelton being signed, but before the Bears depth chart went down because we're in the new league year, Shelton was the starting Center, not Bates.
I understand this roster and its pieces better than most of the pundits and talking heads that gab away from what an intern wrote them without them doing their own homework. I would put my knowledge of this team and it's depth toe to toe with anyone out there that's not actually on the Bears staff.
