More like a bad heat treat Lily. Ontario made great knives in the past but I fear that like a lot of companies today, their QC has taken a dive. This is why I like to buy older Ontarios which where awesome. If I buy anything new today it will be a Mora, Victorinox, Terra Pukko, etc if I want it be a consistent knife. Cold Steel is really good but since they were taken over by a corporate conglomerate, I don't trust them very much either (although their folders do seem to be really good overall). The Swedes, the Swiss and the Finns still care enough about their products that they put out consistent quality. Everyone else is a crapshoot unless it's semi-custom or custom knife or a vintage US knife. I've owned a couple of Glock knives but they were very inconsistent as well. One of them I could not get sharp no matter what, where the other one sharpened super easy. So this QC problem is pretty rampant outside of Scandinavia apparently.

Very good stabbing on the Ferrari, the TIP was fine, but then it performed as an "ok" knife, this is a big 1095 knife, but I reckon it didn't perform better than the Stainless Mora Garberg. Thanks Joe, very informative as always ! 👍
Another validation for TOPS knives I think, which have done far far better than this, especially the Steel Eagle. The RAT-7 is $80-$100 in the US, not cheap, and comes with a shitty sheath and at least on the Ontarios I have, the grinds were so bad they were barely useable. Ontario isn't bad for the price but they're not that good either and their fit and finish and quality control is probably the worst in the business. I'm not really a TOPS fanboy as they are indeed expensive, I only have the Fieldcraft BOB and the Operator 7, but I think they're some of the best you can buy for real life hard use.
