It sounds like Google needs to be held accountable for the sponsored sites
I agree. Google is complicit. They should do their due diligence before selling the ad
That sounds good but imagine holding Ford or Toyota "accountable" for someone getting a DUI in one of their cars. I think we agree that legislation and organizations like the FCC should be more aggressive in blocking these kind of scams, call centers too.
@@theodoreolson8529how is this example even comparable to this situation?
@@theodoreolson8529That's absolutely not the same thing... Google should be vetting the ads they are being paid to post. Period.
@@theodoreolson8529 There is a difference between someone using your product, and you providing your service to commit a crime. Once the toyota is in their hands, it's no longer in the company's control.
Google could easily, and regularly does, change the ads like it's nothing, because it is a service.

I’m still baffled that Google will post up those “sponsored” links and can’t/won’t do anything about it.
Yeah just like Facebook they don’t care, they just take the ad money.
I actually just Googled the exact thing a potential victim might Google and I saw no sponsored ads. I tried in incognito mode and saw none. I Googled 'Activate Prime TV' and saw one of them. I went to the site, as Ben did, and typed a random word as the 'activation code' and sure enough, it sent me to another page with a number.
Everybody watching this video should go to Google and find any ad like this and report it. Maybe we can get Google's attention and they will take some of them down.
With a simple addon ublock and brave on phones I think most of these scams will just go away.
Why aren't we passing law to make them accountable for assisting and helping with scams? Because they have a lot of money? What is the downside of make it so they are part of the scam and liable for jails and fine? Maybe then they will start getting their shit together it's horrible right now every sponsored link is either a scam or a "legal scam" where a product is just a shitty middle man selling at outrageous price
@@gregm.3788 I saw someone suggesting Facebook and Google should do background checks on ppl who try to pay for those sponsor links but ppl came fighting back saying “No, it would harm small businesses”. Thank you for helping this lady with a wellness check. I saw an elderly lady buying $5000 in apple gift cards at 711 and she was very unpleasant when I suggested that she might be scammed. She told me to leave her alone. I remarked ok but I warned you. It's sad. Happening everywhere with trusting people.
It's sad how stupid most people are. They refuse to see reality even when being warned by well intended people.

Yeah I don’t even bother saying ‘might’ to these people anymore. If anybody ever said "I need remote access to your phone," I'm like there's another way, we're not doing that.
Because you, like myself, have common sense. We know these things don't work like that. But they prey on the elderly where they have their children/grandchildren set their stuff up because they can't. They are very vulnerable, and believing in humanity. I know how cruel and evil people truly are, which is why if I can't do something myself, it's not getting done. It's always a piece of shit who preys on the weak.
@@Chris.Rhodesyeah, my dad always liked to pretend he knew his tech but he let one of them on his phone with remote access once, they got him to log onto his pc and when they wanted remote access he gave it them, he did click on eventually something was off and did a hard shutdown, cut the call and turned the phone off. Called me of my mothers phone to tell me, went over after work and boy, they apparently was threatening him and really aggressive saying they would come around the house and dumb stuff. What frustrates me most about this is that not only does Google not take these sites down, they actually put them at the very TOP.
Cuz they are paid for, so Google has to put them on top.
Bruh you pay for that
They are paid “advertisements” and the link does say that it isn’t the official site. And there are enough sites that are legit that it is hard to sort through all of them. And by legit, I mean they aren’t trying to scam you, they are simply trying to sell you something. I have accidentally clicked on a couple of those links in the past and I was sent to sites that were somewhat related to what I was looking for. One was when I was trying to order parts for my Craftsman lawn tractor. I thought I was clicking on the actual Sears/Craftsman site, but it was an off brand parts company. The only way to stop it from happening would be if Goggle stop allowing all ads on there search page, and that won’t be happening anytime soon.

There has to be some sort of correlation between the massive increase in scammers and the increased number of companies who have moved their tech support and call centres to countries like India.
Keep up the great work, shut these bastards down
there might be a correlation but it would be hard to prove causation. It is more likely that the scam market is growing with more people getting more technology and services and becoming vulnerable to a wider range of scams
Many scammers are people who tried to get work in call centres, but couldn't because it is very competitive there, and maybe their English is not good enough or whatever. And because they have this massive call centre industry, the tools are there to create a large parasite scam industry.
From what I can tell, the recent increase is linked to the pandemic. On the one hand lots of people (many not very tech-savvy) switched over to online services during the pandemic and have stayed with them, creating a large market of vulnerable users.
On the other hand lots of jobs which were shut down by the pandemic have probably not come back since, also in India. So, people who lost their job in the pandemic have taken to scamming to make ends meet.
The main reason is how easy it's become to buy things online. A few years ago, a senior citizen would have no idea how to enter their credit card into a website, even if you tried walking them through it. Today, it's much easier and people have no problem doing it. That's why there's so many more scammers.
@@Auriflammeso that makes it ok? Just because they lost their job, they turn to crime by scamming people?
@@fordmangtho351How do you read that as saying that makes it okay? It's just factors that contribute, it's not just because people lost their job, it's the increase in those numbers which includes the percentage of types who are prepared to scam

That won’t help, these scammers can also send you texts. The only way to protect yourself from these kinds of scams and other email and text scams is to never call the number they gave you or use the link. My mom got an email saying her Amazon account was hacked and to either click on the link or call the number provided. Luckily she called me first and I told her that it was a scam, but she was still afraid that her account was hacked. So I went over to her house and we logged onto her Amazon account and there were no charges like the email had said. Then to make her feel better, we contacted Amazon help through the webpage and confirmed that they never sent an email and the account was secure. I told her that she should never call the number or use the link provided in emails or text messages, but to find the contact information from the website. And to never believe someone calling her saying they are from a credit card company or any company claiming that she has been hacked. She should ask their name and then tell them she will call them back after she looks up the number herself.
So calm, so understandable. This type of video and the awareness, just wish more would watch. I'm in the UK - we have 'hit' a least once a month. I know several who have been scammed, they come in all shapes and forms. We spent a day, getting various communications to contact our bank immediately, DON'T ANSWER IT, it's a scam. Then the landline rang, now that was strange. So we contacted the bank using the NUMBER ON THE BACK OF THE CARD. There had been a hit on our bank account, they wouldn't give us any details of when, how or what - just wanted confirmation that the purchases weren't ours. We have a certain patterns of behaviour with our transactions as this fell outside the normal range BE WARNED!
This video is certainly more intense than your others. No lighthearted attempts to humiliate the scammer, no grabify, etc … But here, you highlight very well the scumbags that these scammers are. That scammer’s answering machine and listening to the victims … it is horrible, just horrible.

The solution isnt to change the tools they use, the solution is more drastic. First of all, Geoblocking for the western world. Africa, India, China, North Korea, South America etc. should be generally geoblocked in the Western World and not accessible. VPN Services hosting western servers should be forced to only operate in the western world. We have to make sure that the countries we cant control cant have access to us.
After those geoblocks are in place, and if the scams do not stop, countries need to consult other nations governments. If they do not cooperate, trade restrictions, political disadvantages and in worst case even threat of war should be put in place.

Why can’t AnyDesk and all these other remote access providers display a pop-up warning showing the general location of another device? If a representative is claiming to be from Amazon and all these other major companies, they wouldn’t be calling from places like India or Africa. That would be an obvious hint that they aren’t who they say they are. And if they’re using a VPN, then deny access to the scammer. It’s that simple. I’m sure there’s technicians smart enough to figure out something like that.
That makes a lot of sense but many people think these huge companies outsource to India. When in fact they are U.S. citizens and often working from home.
Africa, maybe. But the truth is, there are a LOT of Amazon customer support agents based in India. Scariest thing of all is that Amazon's very own fraud department is based there. So if there is fraudulent activity happening on an account and it gets reported, that report goes to India. Also, for certain services they offer, if it goes over a certain VERY high dollar amount and needs to be verified as legit before processing payment, an Indian is the person who will call the customer.
That seems like the stupidest thing I can imagine: the biggest corporation to ever exist sends their fraud contacts to the fraud capitol of the world (and a place where extreme poverty is rampant), where all it takes is one disgruntled employee or former employee in need of a few dollars to start stealing customer info or accounts. Make it make sense.

He's probably there with family
I would express my opinion as to what should happen to scammers like this, but if I did, scammer loving TH-cam would ban me. Again.
Thanks for another great video! Great to see you in action!
Thanks Jenn!
I've got two tips for anyone - firstly, if they answer the phone straight away, you can guarantee 100% they're not Amazon or Paypal or whoever. Secondly, don't use a smartphone, I got rid of mine years ago, my old Nokia still works fine and makes phone calls, which is all I need it for..!
I like how you ended the video. with a direct message to the scammers watching: "And I'll catch you in the next video!"
This scam makes me so angry. You should never just trust a phone number that comes up in an internet search. If you need to call a known reputable company, you should get that company's contact information from that company's official website. If you hear a strong accent, your antenna's should immediately be in high alert.
hopefully your family wont hurt from it, mine did...
that poor lady didn't deserve that.
my heart sank when she said that….
It’s probably best for older people to take some online computer security course. This is something that they most likely could never do to the average adult millennial or Generation Z type because they’ve been using computers for so long.
I’m a bit older (Generation X’er), but I’m probably an exception because I’m a Computer Science college graduate. There are probably a lot of people my age that could get scammed.
These scams make me so mad. Why cannot someone stop these a-holes. I hate that the local government does nothing when they are reported. US gov need to put up trade barriers on countries that allow scamming. Learning how not to be a victim of a scam NEEDS be taught to everyone.
Our government loves criminals..just look at what happened recently when those thugs beat up cops in NY - they get a slap on the f*cking wrist..
google needs to stop sponsored links with fake ass pages.
Because India is corrupt and law enforcement don't care
@@billshull9468Unfortunately ppl actually DEFEND Google saying they shouldn’t do anything. That it would affect small businesses somehow. So basically they’re idiots who don’t want any changes
As usual yt is deleting truthful comments..
Why wouldn't these scanners try to sound American because there Indian accents are a dead give away (not a racist)
wow Ben this is just so nice to watch i played it twice. I just love how you go out of your way to save victims
Jason Statham's new movie, The Beekeeper, is about his character tracking down scammers and kicking the crap out of them. LOL
Really ??? They should make.More
@@lillyvgutierrez9685 It's true and yes they do need to make more.
I'd crowdfund an IRL version of that. Just saying.
You doing an eating challenge at the in-n-out 😂 thats a few burgers
Education and awareness is the key to stopping these scammers.
That's a fabulous video Ben. It is sad you could not advise the police in India to knock on his door and arrest him. Didn't they start some task force to action this without going through Interpol? If I was an Indian national, I would be lobbying my government to fast-track the prosecution and investigation of these people, going public to discourage other young people from using this as an income stream.
Police in India and Pakistan are unfortunately not as easy to reach and motivate on this kind of offence. Watch some Pierogi (scammer payback) and Trinity Media for more info
Couldn't you call the Indian police dept? It may not go anywhere, but it's worth ruining this guy if it works.
That was a serious In N Out spread you had there! Need the calories to fight all these scum scammers!
This happened to my mom she got an email pretending to be Amazon and she had an unauthorized charge on her account
Ben, great save... Stay safe......Cheers J
Use of remote access software needs to be much more heavily regulated.
It is not just them stepping up their game. You also really stepped your game up with this one. It is great to see.
I hope your course covers that case about the kid who thought he was sending nudes to a girl that was into him, then got blackmailed and killed himself. I'll be showing my son your video on that in a few years when he is old enough to get a phone.
Lol this came up earlier and it wouldn't let me watch it
I watched to original video, but now it's not there.
@@kevin34ctwas anything different about it v the reupload?
The original video had a glitch.
@@V0idBreachthe original didnt have the scammer ip blurred
@@caughtn4k: Why bother protecting scammers? They are the scum of the Earth.
These gift card manufacturers, should impose geographical limits.
Such as cards sold in the US can only be redeemed in the US.
That way anyone attempting to use them remains in the jurisdiction and can have legal action brought against them for fraud.
I WOULD HOPE THOSE TV'S HAVE A WARNING SIGN PUT UP BUYER BEWARE OF SCUMMS WHO HAVE A NEW CON ON PRIME ACTIVATION ON TV'S THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!
At what point do we start going after Amazon, Norton, PayPal, etc? The only way these scammers will be brought down is when it hits the companies they are "representing" financially.
Disney, Nike and many big companies go after counterfeit products, wouldn't these scammers be considered counterfeit representatives?
If we brought on a class action suit to Amazon on behalf of those who were scammed (because as far as those who were scammed are concerned, they were dealing with the real Amazon) maybe Amazon could force India to crack down because of the heat they would get from the lawsuit.
I've wondered the same thing: the UK passed a law about dealing with online scammers, but they missed out on putting in a clause about these companies being held accountable for victims' losses.
Imagine Indian PM Modi's face when a bunch of lawyers from Microsoft, Norton, McAfee, etc., turn up in his office with formal complaints.
😂😂 Amazon is a private business. Amazon isn't running this scam so why would you punish Amazon? Amazon would constantly have to be watching it's back.😊
@@RichardWattAmazon isn't involved in this. What's wrong with you people? Is responsibility a foreign concept to you? 😂😂
It's always start with google ad..
Good channel. Thanks for sharing.😊
Does anyone trust calls from people with Asian and African accents now? It's a shame, but I don't anymore.
What is the reason for the re-upload?
He said the original video was taken down, but he didn't explain why or by who.
He said there was a "terrible glitch" in the original
I never answer these calls or emails. If I’m curious, I call directly to Amazon customer service. I’ll report them too
This is so scary. Scammer are improving everyday..😮
yep... I work as a fraud investigator it's crazy..
