It seems to me that the theme and moral goes to the Death Note. Death Note reveals that power makes people worse, it makes you think about the value of life, can we, ordinary people, value someone's life above another? Can we take the lives of some for the benefit of others? Can there be an ideal world without evil? And is it possible to create such a world just by using evil? And, in that case, can it be called evil? What is death anyway? These are the questions of morality that everyone will answer for themselves, there is no single answer, but personally this anime (moreover, my first anime) made me rethink these things
Yeah but code geass shows racism and that you sometimes have to kill to achive your goals and they show that those who kill should prepare to be killed. And code geass also shows you that everyone can make mistakes exampel when lelouch killed uphemia.

Nah I'd give Morals to Code Geass. Death Note is very Black and White with Morality, much less that I don't really feel like Light's Methods are really ever examined by the Anime beyond the effect it has on Light himself and his Cultish fan base. Code Geass does a better Job showing Moral Grey Areas, Lelouch is never fully good or fully evil, Lelouch really grapples with the consequences of his actions and regrets those action, not to mention he ultimately decides he himself isn't worthy. Light never really questions his actions he never questions if he is wrong, the cops hunting him question themselves more than he does.
1. Story: Code Geass 2. Plot: Death Note 3. Protagonist: Code Geass 4. Antagonist: Death Note 5. Character Development: Code Geass 6. Consistency: Code Geass 7. Beginning: Death Note 8. Ending: Code Geass 9. Theme/moral: Code Geass 10. Writing: Code Geass 11. Side characters: Code Geass 12. Musical score: Code Geass Code Geass wins 9-3 over Death Note. Explanation (spoilers for both anime below): Death note starts out with a very interesting plot, but the story and relatively few characters are rather one-dimensional, especially compared to Code Geass. Light is more so a glorified villain than an anti-hero, with a very juvenile sense of justice. He thinks in order for the world to become a better place, all he has to do is get rid of the existing bad people and make sure they fear him.... But what happens once he's gone and there's no reason to fear him anymore?? So in the end he probably did not achieve his goals, at least not for long, because it was a futile endeavor from the start. Bad people will always exist. Furthermore, Death Note mostly focused on the rivalry between geniuses and was very little outside of that. Code Geass is that and so much more. Still, Death Note's story is well executed, at least up until the halfway point. Afterwards it became obvious that it struggled to figure out how to continue the story, even introducing elements that seemingly came from left field at some points. This caused the story to feel inconsistent and the ending half to be a bit disappointing outside of a few highlights (like the iconic laugh). On top of that the story in its entirety doesn't really teach the viewer anything interesting beyond not abiding by the the law and moral expectations is bad, and that justice from a single person's pov is usually not as just/fair as the justice system set up by the pov of many. Meanwhile Code Geass is a show that keeps getting better and truly peaks at its ending/climax, as all stories are supposed to but rarely manage to accomplish. It's consistent in its established goals and world rules. Unlike Light, Lelouch understands that bad people will always exist and thus focuses on creating a world system that will make dealing with them easier and will thus lead to a more peaceful world. This system can also continue to exist even if he's not around anymore. Also, Lelouch has a good grip on his morality, making him a proper anti-hero and not just a glorified villain like Light. This makes Lelouch a more complex character who actually needs to overcome several internal moral conflicts so that he doesn't lose sight on his own goals (like Light did once he became corrupted by his power and became the very thing he despised). The ending is obviously phenomenal and still widely considered to be the best ending ever in anime (or otherwise), and that's largely due to the already amazing writing leading up to the ultimate pay-off in the end. Outside of a few minor plot conveniences (the biggest of which being Lelouch making 'the joke' to Euphy) and one pretty boring arc (the Mao arc, which is still an important and necessary arc mind you), Code Geass does not suffer from any plot holes or deviations that seemingly came from left field. Furthermore, Code Geass has more interesting themes/morals, going into topics like making extremely difficult sacrifices in order to achieve one's goals and how the ruthless unfairness that one can face in life can still lead to fair (albeit tragic) pay-off and punishment. In other words, the show explains why and how the end justifies the means. This is why imo Code Geass also deserves to win in consistency and writing.
@@aga4331 Yes, my comment is subjective of course, just like the video. I can understand if my comment seems to downplay DN due to how I mostly speak of DN's faults while praising CG. This is because I'm mostly explaining why I think writing and consistency also go to CG instead of DN, and why I think CG as a whole is a better show/the winner. But to clarify I did enjoy DN. I recognize that both have flaws, but to me CG has fewer of them, as well as more strengths. To put my comment in more simple terms (spoiler warning), CG was consistently very good and enjoyable (with the exception of the Mao arc and the occasional plot convenience), while DN was very good in the first half but fell off in the second half (a common complaint many have with DN). On top of that DN didn't really teach me anything new since it's pretty common knowledge that being a criminal is (morally) bad and will likely not end well for you. And themes like 'power corrupts' or 'justice is subjective' etc. are also extremely common knowledge and not hard to understand. Meanwhile CG managed to convince me that the ends justify the means, despite how I at first wasn't sure how/in what way exactly that could be the case, especially in the context of the story itself where the means are absolutely brutal. It also shows how there's no use making excuses, even if something (terrible) wasn't your intention, it can still be your responsibility. And you're better off owning it and taking the excuses to your grave (regardless of how true they are), no matter how hard and unfair that may be for you personally. This is one of several kinds of 'sacrifices' the series teaches us about, but it takes this a step further in the very end by also showing the audience a perfectly fair and understandable punishment/result (for Lelouch), while managing to make the audience feel conflicted due to its simultaneous unfairness (in other words it's yet another sacrifice, which resulted from other sacrifices I guess). These themes/morals are a bit more complex than those of DN, and I've honestly also yet to see another story implement these same themes as effectively as CG did. But again, this is all just my opinion. (Sorry for the long explanation despite how it was supposed to be simpler and shorter).
@@aga4331 Thank you, though I wasn't aware you hadn't watched CG yet. I'm sorry for the possible spoilers. I will add spoiler warnings in my previous comments just in case.

I think you meant Hero and Villian instead of Protagonist and Antagonist. Protagonist is the MAIN CHARACTER, either villian or hero. Antagonist is the CHARACTER THAT OPPOSES the main character, and the antagonist can be either hero or villian.
Technically an antagonist and protagonist can think the same or similar but just have different ways to going about it. An antagonist opposes a protagonist
I just watched code Geass for the First time, got to say it was damn good, i thought i was going to hate it because of the animation style but i was wrong.
I think it is subjective, I personally prefer Death Note but I also enjoyed Code Geass both are masterpiece. It is like Chocolate Ice Cream or Strawberry Ice Cream it depends on the taste of individual so anyone picking any option is fine.
Both are in my top 10. As a huge Code Geass and Death note fan I can say that Code Geass is better. Lelouch and Light are both in my favorite characters too. But Lelouch is simply better too.
I gotto say the entire point of a story is to show how the character changes as they progress through the world. A good story is one where we see how every scene socially, emotionally, intelectually, spirtually, psycholigically affects a character and their decisions, I personally feel like code geass definitely has a much more thoroughly developed character, whereas deathnote focused more on a psychopathic egotistical killer which is also interesting, hence you don't see much change to light as he progressively becomes less human, but lelouch was progressively less human but was conflicted but also wasn't really becuase he had the same self righteousness as light, which is very interesting and more relatable. But I have to say that you can't really compare them except for maybe the execution, becuase the stories and characters are completely different. Because one is about absolute world domination and its morality, and the other is about psychology of a killer and law & order.
I just love the setting of code geass. While i rewatched it many many times (and if i had to say the perfect ending exist, it would be the end of r2) i rewatched death note only one or twice. And dont be mistaken i really like death note (i have all mangas, they are amazing). Lelouch is such an interesting character.
Death note >>>>>>>code geass
I gotto say the entire point of a story is to show how the character changes as they progress through the world. A
good story is one where we see how every scene socially, emotionally, intelectually, spirtually, psycholigically affects a character and their decisions, I personally feel like code geass definitely has a much more thoroughly developed character, whereas deathnote focused more on a psychopathic egotistical killer which is also interesting, hence you don't see much change to light as he progressively becomes less human, but lelouch was progressively less human but was conflicted but also wasn't really becuase he had the same self righteousness as light, which is very interesting and more relatable. But I have to say that you can't really compare them except for maybe the execution, becuase the stories and characters are completely different. Because one is about absolute world domination and its morality, and the other is about psychology of a killer and law & order.

Based list I’m not even gonna complain, good job
I thought code geass is famous for the king checkmate
Bro was being kind, Code Geass is so clear

Death note has introduced me to anime so my vote goes to death note.
And yes of course l and light are also very interesting but for me they are on a smaller scale
