    Yes mate you smashed it! Glad you put the camera away for the race, sometimes you just need to focus 👌

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks mate :) Yeah, I decided that I needed to give myself the best possible chance. Thought about possibly wearing the camera on a head mount but wan't sure the battery would last and even if it did I don't think the footage would have been that interesting.

    Chris, I’m a bit late to the party here viewing your November 10k but just want to thank you and say well done. I’m quite inspired now to perhaps change my build up to 10ks when we come out of lockdown as I’m sitting around 46-47 minutes and I’m keen to get below 45 mins.
    Thanks again and good on ya. Tone.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Tone, much appreciated. I've certainly found that the best way to build up to and then achieve a PB is to have a period of base building, running often at an easy pace, followed by a period where with some speed sessions. Worked well for my 10k attempt and hopefully it'll work well during my current 5k training for a sub 20 min 5k.

    You've put a lot of work in.
    You didn't smash it... you took it into the pub carpark and gave it a beating so severe a priest had to be called to give it the last rights!
    Damn fine splits! Next time a negative split? You were close this time.
    Controlled - that is the word I like to use after I run. Once again that usually means a negative split: of course much more achievable with a longer distance and a course that isn't completely random on both halfs.
    Well done that man.
    I'm doing races of various distances at the moment - as long as they are hilly and also off road....I hope to reap the benefit in flattish road Marathons in 2020.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate, certainly kept the priest busy with that one, didn't I :) Being in control when running fast really is a great feeling. I'll be including some more off road hilly stuff in my forthcoming marathon training because as you say, it's got to help with flattish road marathons. btw - what marathons have you got planned?

    • @twold4this

      @@HereWeAreRunning
      Next week.
      Salisbury Plain (off road, military rutted roads etc)
      After Christmas a rather nice (sic) 42 miler (Winter Cross - Google it, a slightly unusual format) I've run it the last couple of years.
      Then in January a looped Ultra - uphill and down dale)
      Thinking ahead the flattish road ones I've booked next year - Taunton, North Dorset and London (my 💯 th Marathon). 34mile road ultra ("longest single loop road Ultra in UK" Dartmoor) a 100k point to point... Oh, and the Bath HALF. There will be more to come!
      I'm knackered just looking at the list!

    I did this race last weekend for a huge pb. I think there is some GPS holes on the course around the 90 degree turn and a bit further on in that long straight away.
    I had some huge pace drops (according to GPS) which would correlate with those sections measuring short which in turn would make the whole route short.

    Fantastic well chuffed for Chris, loved watching that :-) totally inspired. Between your channel and The Running Channel I've decided to take on a run everyday challenge in Jan and then will look to train for a 10k after that. I take it that 4 laps didn't phase you at all? I usually struggle with lapped races.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate :) Great to hear that go are going to start your own challenge off the back of this, best of luck. The 4 laps weren't too bad. Probably not something I'd do if I wasn't going for a fast time but at least the park had some nice scenery.

  • @MrCol104
    @MrCol104 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bit late commenting on this but congratulations on a great run. The watch showing slightly below the 10k would annoy me. That's GPS for you.
    I always make sure my watch says the distance I'm running, even if it means having to do a bit of 'overtime'.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Colin. Probably my best achievement of last year. Yeah, a bit annoying about the watch but have to trust the race organisers for measuring correctly, so think it was the gps that was out and because it was 4 laps, being a bit out on one lap soon adds up.

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Back when I did this race I didn't have a faster day shoe. I run in stability shoes as I overpronate so choices are a bit limited. But last Summer, New Balance brought out the FuelCell Prism which I now wear if I want to run fast. Really love that shoe.

    • @xanderj822
      @xanderj822 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HereWeAreRunning I just treated myself to a pair of brooks ghost. I had some orthotics made by a podiatrist as I have very flat and I also overpronate

    Im very slow at 1:15. :(

    • @HereWeAreRunning
      @HereWeAreRunning  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The great thing about running is speed is relative. There are plenty of people who can run a lot faster than me and others who are slower but I only ever compete with myself. If 1:15 is your current fastest 10K time then if you want to run faster, that's your target :)
