I've just started year 10 and am starting to get more organised with my revision and note taking this year. English literature is one of my favourite subjects but I find it so difficult sometimes so this video really helped. We've just started lord of the flies and I'll definitely be using these methods to keep everything organised. thank you :)
i’ve always loved english especially literature, i’ve just never knew how to navigate myself around a course. this is sooo helpful and i will refer to this a lot throughout y10!!
Even though I’ve done my English GCSE already (and also got a 9) it was so interesting to see how you revised it and how you thought in the exam. Strangely I revised English in a very different way: yes I learnt quotes for the texts and poetry but I honestly didn’t learn analysation, I basically did all that of the stuff you did on your mind maps in my head/plan in the exam. I found this easier because I did the OCR exam board and for some reason their essay questions were always very specific so you could never predict what the questions would be. Even my essays never followed a structure simply because I preferred to just let them flow and evolve based again on the type of question (but I do acknowledge that English did come quite easy to me and that wouldn’t work for everyone) I totally agree however with two of your points which I think everyone has to do: lots of practice essays and essay plans AND to plan out how much time you will spend on each question. I think this video will be so helpful for year 10s and 11s (some high quality advise) 😊👌 xx

I just wanted to say that this video was such a big help! I'm in Year 8 and I love watching your videos as they motivate me a lot and give me such great advice with revision and exam tips. In English, we are currently studying "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare, and I thought your ways and techniques on structuring your answers and essays were great; I will be using them within my essays, so thank you. in the nicest way possible there's really no need to start studying so early. year 10 is already early enough, enjoy the time u have now and start later

For context I'm doing pre mocks that finalize my sets I'm in top set and my grade dropped from a 5 to a 4 possibly due to the fact I had to write double the amount than before as I only had to write a page and a bit beforehand so missed out AO3 as it was either trying to fit everything in or fitting to the time. I know I'm doing a Christmas Carol and Macbeth. For a Christmas Carol would linking to the Christian Values, Victorian era, division between rich and poor count as AO3 as for my essay earlier on in Nov I think I linked to the Jacobean era for Macbeth and the roles between man and women and how they switched as well as how they believed in spiritual beings etc. I think that was AO3 but I don't know how to include AO3 into poetry as we are doing power& conflict but have only just started to annotate poetry, we did the war photographer but would that mean the AO3 would be about the links to conflict and power? As I linked the quotations to things like loss, bloodshed and the impacts it has on the photographer.
Thank you this has really helped, I just did an assessment on Pride and Prejudice and I don't feel as though it was my best work so I really appreciate this video so I can do better in my next assessment :)

Glad to hear you enjoyed. I don't think you can add pictures to a description box :( but some of the things I can remember are: structural points, a range of subject terminology, analytical verb phrases & embedded quotes. Hope this helps!
