ziad ajam Line winders are the best of course. But most of us don’t have access to that. Putting the line through couch cushions work. Or putting the line on a different reel then using that reel’s drag to create tension for the reel you eventually want to use. The idea is to have tension when winding on new line. Get it on as tight as possible. 👍

ziad ajam I use electrical tape and it’s fine. Just make sure to rinse your reels with freshwater after every trip. I sometimes see corrosion on used reels I buy. They’re most common on the spool as a result of braid that aren’t rinsed often if ever.
