I would take the Vibram Eton. From experience I have had many close calls of faceplanting in my work environment (concrete floors) wearing Dainite. Having a slip resistant sole and keeping yourself safe is by far more worthwhile. You fall a time or two, hurt yourself as you get older than you go that way. That said the Dainite wears much slower, is a bit more rigid, and overall I find it the better choice outdoors, just not during wet, snowy, and rainy weather. I think if I worked in more of an office environment, didn't have to deal with slick surfaces and walked to work I would go with it.

Meanwhile it''s been a delight that the TH-cam algorithm that let me discover your channel via a Nick's review video. I love my Nick's boots, they definitely wear like iron! Yes, you can definitely have a 3 ribbed shank added and convert the boots to the Vibram 700 soles. We actually posted a pair of moc toes done that way on our Instagram and Facebook pages.
Having worn both, there is no best. The Eton's handle greasy pavement & wet leaves better than the Dainite's. The Dainite's wear slower than the Eton's. The Eton's are slightly softer under the heel when walking, but the Dainite's offer slightly more support to the arches when standing. Each has advantages. Each has disadvantages... Personally, I'd probably go for the Dainite sole with an Eton heelcap, for a best of both resole. Just gotta wear out the current soles first...
I was excited to say the least when Vibram released the Eaton soles and heèls. I agree with Abe they can be used for different applications. And my application is better grip, better flex, And thinner profile
I really appreciate the rubber sole guide. And I love the sheet cork-seems more cushioning than the slurry. I am 68 and live in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, so everything slopes and falling has become a greater concern. I need grip and cushioning from a sole, in the lightest and most durable material possible. Sounds more like the Eton between these two but a sure there are other and maybe better options you might suggest. ALSO: can you suggest any oil treatments for leather soles to make them more flexible and thereby possibly improving grip?
We have several different gripping type soles available. Once you are ready to do something, we will be happy to help you decide the best option available at that time. We have not come across a sole oil that we like. Thanks!
Have you had a chance to compare the Dainite to the Itshide version? Would that sole be good/tough enough on a service boot like Iron Rangers for general chores outside and such?
We are currently testing the itshide wear against the Dainite. So far, the results are very similar in comfort and grip. The itshide is leading in durability. We have used the Dainite on iron rangers for customers. We highly recommend adding a leather midsole to them though.

Ive read somewhere that Dainite is a natural rubber compound rather than a petroleum based rubber. Is this true? How about the vibram?
