It's a mystery to me, how you can not have at least a million subscriptions. You are by far the best teacher on TH-cam. Thanks for your work and effort. Your PDFs on patreon are the cherry on top!
Looks like the rest of the world is catching onto your site and your fabulous lessons. Don’t change a thing it can be humbling to be so well received by all of us trying our best to wrestle something out of our guitars!! Thanks another great lesson.
Mr Farran...l'm amazed of how good your phrasing and choice of notes is...l could be listening to your playing for hours....guitar tone is out of this world too!! Bravo!!
Alex, I regret to say you're harming my progress on guitar. Just when I get part way through one stellar, must- learn lesson, another pops up. I just don't have the willpower to fully master any given one. Please take it easy with the non-stop excellence! - a devoted but challenged fan. (Seriously, though, this one is going on the list!)
This is a properly brilliant lesson with some tasty as all hell licks. One of the best explanations of how to blend triads into lines I’ve seen. Thank you.
Great detail, Alex! I like the theory detail that you go into. When you outline the changes, you describe it as I, Idim, iv minor, I. However, I've never heard another teacher explain it that way even though it is one of the most common turnarounds. They usually just point out that it is the 3rd and the 5th of G descending chromatically down to the Root and the 3rd. Looking at it as an implied progression really helps! cheers!
Absolutely!.. one of my favourites! 🧡 You probably already saw this from a couple years ago.. (full lesson coming soon!).. th-cam.com/video/lToY9E2mx88/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1Z2TyRFmL9NCF7Wm
Ah, that's what it is. I was trying to place it. I was thinking a Grateful Dead tune but you're right it's Come and Go Blues. I listened to the album a week ago.
That's some tasty playing Alex. Full disclosure, I'm constatntly stealing your ideas and licks but don't worry, I screw them up enough that they truly become my own lol. Really enjoy your channel - Gus
Thanks buddy! 🙏🏻 I like the Surfybear reverb units, but they’re a little big.. for a smaller pedal, the Strymon Flint is excellent, and even smaller, the Catalinbread Topanga 👌🏻
Great topic. Do you have any videos that talk about diminished chord function and how to know when to use half whole vs whole half over a diminished chord depending on the context of the chord?
Thanks buddy. I have a video on diminished and how to use it as a V chord (with b9 extension).. it’s a fairly deep video but there will be a part 2 looking at other common uses for the diminished too. Here’s the vid; th-cam.com/video/cE7DTVknkXU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lvYlt-aqZkEwMJS6
There you are with my dose of 'what next'? You always pick studies on my favourite players, love Robben! Thanks Alex do you gig in uk much, you ever up in lincolnshire? i'd love to come and see you! The "Nice" was very Fast Show 😂
Thanks Stuart, glad you liked it! Yes indeed, I gig a fair bit, just last night I played at the Flowerpot in Derby and were in Wales next week. I’ll let you know when we play in Lincolnshire 👍🏻 And well spotted on the Fast Show reference 😉🍻
@@arifturgan okay man, but this is the way I do it, and have done it for many years. I’m not about to change my entire workflow when this is superior. I’d recommend getting guitar pro buddy, honestly .. it’s miles ahead of soundslice (which I did use a few years ago also)
it's crazy how it's always one of your lessons that help me break out of a plateau, thanks!
Man, that’s the kind of feedback that means so much to me, thank you! Really glad to hear it 🙏🏻

I totally agree

Thank you Mark, I’m very appreciative of all the kind words and support for my lessons from yourself and others. It is humbling for sure! 🙏🏻
Thanks again, Alex, I’m working on so many of your lessons, I don’t know which ones I’m going to focus on today
Thanks mate, really glad you enjoy my lessons! Hmmm, put the names in a hat and pick at random! 😅
@@vicpostillion5996 yeah man ! Sure we all struggle with that amount of tunes and knowledge Alex propose ! No rush he would say. Play and have fun. ✌️

Thanks mate! I massively appreciate the kind words! 🙏🏻🧡
Well done Alex. So many beautiful details...very inspiring.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏻
Similar to "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours," I think. Superb playing, Alex. Thank you.
Thanks buddy, really glad you liked it! 🙏🏻 You’re right, very similar to that. Also, “you’re all I need to get by”.
You’re all I need to get by!
absolutely buddy!.. and sooo many other songs use this iconic progression 👌🏻
Building such a fancy tune with just a turnaround ? Crazy ! I love it. My next work for sure 🙏
Indeed my friend!.. such a beautiful progression to jam over.

Stunning composition, soloing and performance, full of tasty ingredients to work on, thanks very much Alex!

You're an unusually good teacher.
Haha thanks mate! I’ve been teaching guitar since 2008 and take real pride in it 🙏🏻
@@AlexFarranGuitar That's a long time and your lessons are very valuable and full of extremely difficult to find knowledge. Thanks again.

Inspiring! And that tone is melted butter, brown sugar, and warm bourbon tasty!
Thanks Eric, glad you liked it! 🙏🏻
Come and Go Blues, Gregg Allman
Indeed! “you’re all I need to get by” by Marvin Gaye also. So, so many songs use this harmonised blues turnaround 👍🏻
Lovely relaxed vibe to your teaching, will be checking out more of your vids - subscribed :-)
Thank you Rob, I really appreciate that! 🙏🏻
Tone has a Trower vibe! Love it! Thanks Alex!🎸🎶🎶🔥🎸
Thanks buddy! Ah yes, he was also a big fan of the univibe! 👌🏻
great example of a call and respons lick with louis the cat🙂and great lesson overall !
Haha thanks so much! 🙏🏻😸
Love this progression. I immediately thought of Allman Brothers Come and Go Blues which I think uses this progression.
I bet it does!.. pretty much any blues is gonna have some elements of this progression.. some make it more apparent than others. 👌🏻
..ditto!
..same key as well, here's my version..

He really does! 😂😸
I hear the intro of "a real mother for ya" from the great johhny guitar watson. Another great lesson, alex. I've got a lot catching up to do.

Fantastic ... gonna take a while!
Thanks for the comment buddy. Sure thing, there's no rush with this stuff.. in fact, it'll absorb better when you take it slow 👌🏻

Hey Alex. What's a good chorus peddle to purchase at a reasonable price please?
Just a chorus pedal or more like a univibe pedal (as I was using in this video)?
Cute cat. There's a song there. Cat man blue from Katmandu. Feel free to collaborate
😂😂 I can feel that collab coming later this year! 🔥😸
