Awesome. I came across this and instead of lying in bed watching it picked up my guitar and followed along. Great teaching style for intermediate and above. I’ll be back.
Great lesson Alex. Right on the button and so important for intermediate guitarists. Amazed at your vocabulary and if there is more it’s beyond me. Played around with this stuff for years and there is plenty of new ideas here. Thank you!!!
You really are a great player but an equally great teacher. Those two things don’t necessarily go hand in hand. So glad to have discovered your channel this year. Respect brother.
Alex, this is amazing ! I just spent four hours working on it, learned so much and had so much fun. Can we get a volume 2 on this topic ? Pretty please 😊
usually when trying to play one if your lessons i get overwhelmed quite quickly, you make everything sound sooo great,i think with this one the easier options are very well broken down Looking forward to seeing if i just simply suck :))) Thanks
Awesome! Even if just scratching the surface. We guitarists always about solos, it has to stop, beginning today, with Mister Alex 🙏 Well done mate, a nice new serie.
Thank you buddy! Absolutely!.. out in the real world and playing with others, we only spend maybe 10% of our time soloing.. so we better take real pride in our rhythm playing! 👌🏻😅
Another banger lesson from the tone master himself-the best of best TH-cam guitar lessons ( and I’ve searched quite a few over the years) worth checking out Alex’s channel
Thanks! Most people take it for granted, but it is not easy to transfer knowledge. Some have it in them and beyond that they are willing to share. It's just to be thankful for that.
Ah thank you mate, that means a lot! I really am passionate about teaching.. I’ve been doing 9 private lessons every single day since 2008 so I have a fair bit of practice with it. Still always looking to refine things and make these lessons more efficient. 😎
lol 😂 when you put the kaleidoscope effect on during the David Gilmore reference 😂 Great lesson. Filling in the Swiss cheese of my technique with these things. Thank you 😊
I just recently thought that I lack an arsenal of grooves I can whip out on a jam, if I could ever find someone to jam with lol Would love to see some kind of series on the variety of grooves in different genres that lend themselves well to some fun times! Thank you Alex!
That’s a great idea buddy, and will definitely be coming soon. I’ll do a steady series of essential rhythm chops in different genres, and will build on them as time goes on too 👍🏻
Well that was fun, you do know your tone. The mention of a 69 Fender Deluxe Reverb brought back memories .. back then I played through a 68 Deluxe Reverb ..... man I wish I had never sold that amp. Cheers.
Great bite-sized lesson Alex. Pleased to hear you are planning a full lesson on 'Sure Got Cold After the Rain Fell'. It's one of my favourite songs and showcases BFG's blues mastery. I purchased your transcription of a solo from the song some time back and will be keen to get your take on (hopefully) the rest of the song when you get to it.
Apart from the superb playing and lessons, I love the vibe you've managed to build with the lighting & decor - that shade of green on that wall, lovely! (and the hats / fashion doesn't go unnoticed of course! 😉). How about a video on tips for creating a space ike this for the aspiring musician? It must have taken a lot of thought, and surey helps with the whole approach to practice and recording. Have you done videos on your recording equipment and process? or one on your collection of guitars & amps and what has led you to this point? We guitar geeks all love those! Looking forward to more Bluegrass content as well 🤞
Thank you for the enthusiastic words my friend, much appreciated! I will certainly do future videos on my gear, my recording process and how I set my studio up etc. And for sure.. many bluegrass lessons coming soon! Hard to fit everything in that I want to do, but I guess that’s why I’ll be here doing this for many, many years to come! 🤪
Thanks buddy, glad you like the tone! Yes indeed.. much back and forth and refinement went into these. I’d never put my name on anything I didn’t fully believe in 👌🏻
Thanx mate, these are well knowned grooves but it is a brilliant idea to take the time to analyse them and truly understand them... By the way, i never miss a video of yours, i love the setting, the studious ambiance and of course the super original content... But i've just realized I never saw you smile, not even once 🤔 Hope to see your teeth on the next one 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My brother this is such a great lesson. I wish I had the money to be a patron subscriber but as a disabled elder veteran living on 1375 dollars a month I can’t afford it. Barely surviving as it is. Every thing goes to bills and a little food, never enough though. Maybe you could just give me access to the material for this one lesson. Would take me months to master it anyway. Peace and Love
Hey Alex, just grabbed the lesson materials after hearing you say there's even something for beginners here. I'm going to put that to a serious test! And now for a random question -- would you ever do (or have you ever done) a rundown of how you create these videos? I'm interested in charting my progress on YT and I'm not sure of the best way to record both my voice (just talking) and the guitar. Looks like you have a trusty SM7B there, the podcaster's special! Cheers, and hope you're well...best, Danny.
Thank you Danny, I really appreciate that! Hope you enjoy working on it! 👍🏻 Yeah that’s a good idea for a future video!.. I was going to do it as a Patreon exclusive “behind the scenes” type thing, but could also show some of the process on here too. To sum it all up.. time consuming! 🤣
Hey Alex I recognize your voice from the sunbear pickups review. Are they your favorite humbuckers for the semi hollow guitar. How bout tele and strat pickups? Is there a go to
Hey buddy, yeah they’re deffo my favourite humbuckers for my 335 .. funnily enough, check out the “tone talk” section of this video where I speak about my new signature Sunbear “Farran-Five” pickups.. they’re my favourite tele pickups without a doubt 👌🏻
@@AlexFarranGuitar thank you for the tele info too. I have Lindy Fralin split blade pickups on mine. Definitely check Sunbear. Thank you kindly. You also play great and tasty Cheers!
I give more than enough information on how to do it! Remember that I also provide painstakingly detailed tab and notation with all of my lessons. This is how you learn! If I was to describe every single finger movement, the video would be 4 hours long and 90% of my viewers would’ve switched off after 2 minutes! 😆
Hi Dan, thanks for asking. It’s simply a way to support the channel and the work that goes into it all. People often message me asking how they can make a donation, and the “buy me a coffee” route was always the standard way. But TH-cam memberships is intended as an alternative to that. As such, the perks are quite simple, you receive a special icon next to your time when commenting or posting in live chat, and your name features on my channel’s main page as a way of thanks. (I myself am a member on a handful of channels, not to unlock anything, but just to support the work) Cheers mate! 🍻
