Just discovered your channel and I've learned in 5 days more from you than I've learned from other channels in 5 years. Great playing ideas, thorough explanation and direction in what to practice and learn to become a better guitar player. Thanks!!
You ve done a super job here. Content like this, Is filled with great ideas and is perfect for players like me who like to have things to play solo. Thanks
This is the greatest music of all time and you really do a nice job explaining how to play it properly. Thanks, Professor and keep up the good work.😊Mercy! Mercy! Mercy!
This lesson is great and so nice to get a full comprehensive rhythm focused deep dive into such a classic tune. Alex lessons are the tops! No fluff here.
You knocked it out of the park once again with this one, absolutely the best teacher of this style on all of TH-cam! One question: with the gospel move, why does it sound so sweet with the five chord as a minor, when normally the five chord would be major?
Thanks a lot, a brilliant lesson with so many take aways for us bedroom guitar players. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge it is really appreciated.
As an advanced beginner, I thank you for creating something I can follow, and encourage you to do more similar lessons 😊 I will purchase and work thoroughly on this one 🤠
Can't believe how packed this video is! I've been working on this for two days now, and only got the first two sections down. Then I look at the time stamps, there's even a some tips on tritone sub. You got so many things I've wanted to learn packed in 30 min, thank you so much.
Thanks Alex. I really enjoy your lessons and appreciate the high quality and how you are able to explain the theory and voicings in a way which makes them accessible. I'm working to better improve my rhythm playing and you're becoming a big part of my progress. Once again, I really appreciate it and you!
Its is awesome what you can get from a chord progression, you keep the groove but make it sing with tasty embellishments, thanks so much for another great lesson Alex! (Please allow me to suggest you to listen to someone in case you haven't done it yet or in case someone discovers he now: Ivan 'Boogaloo Joe' Jones, here some tunes: Brown bag, Right on, Freak off and Sweet back to name a few....) Have a nice weekend all!
Oooh, I love it ! I've been playing this song for years but this is so very nice ! I can also hear some of Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind" in there too ...
Maestro…just another complete masterclass in technique, touch and tone….awesome Alex ! How long you had the Emprize Falcon ?? Sounds sweet as …do you still have the Lazy J too ? Thanks for your generosity. Hope you’re doing good. Go well. Best
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻 The Falcon is legitimately incredible!.. I've had 2 versions of it since December, and this latest iteration is the top of the top.. the perfect "deluxe reverb" in my opinion. I do indeed still have the Lazy J20, (been a favourite amp of mine for over a decade now), and funnily enough received the J10 just 2 days ago.. the 20's little brother! Gigged with it the past couple of nights and it sounded fantastic! Falcon = black panel bliss, Lazy J = tweedy goodness 👌🏻
@@AlexFarranGuitar cool amps for sure….I’m really enjoying your tone. I’ve been interested by the Monarch….but id have to move on a Carr Telstar amp to pay for it and I’m not sure I could let that go. I love the Lazy J amps too…just ‘yes’ !! Your videos are fantastic Alex…love your generosity in teaching…respect ! Keep em coming…I’m hoping to be able to contact you in the future for some one to one lessons via Skype or however you do it …I’m east anglia based.

Thanks for the comment buddy. Do remember that I put the timestamps in the video description and you can see the various chapters along the bottom of the video for quick chapter selection. (Just so you don’t have to waste too long finding key moments). Haha well spotted at 11:46.. Amazon delivery came through the letterbox 😂
@@AlexFarranGuitarhaha at 11:46 I was just reminding myself to listen carefully to the pentatonic fill to get it exactly right- I wish I was observant enough to recognize whatever you were talking about
Haha oh I see! I thought you’d picked up on that very faint noise in the background of the letterbox opening and closing and something landing on the hallway floor 😂
14:26 you say E flat 7 here (like the prior verse) but your sheet music says Eb major 7 (x-6-8-7-8- do both work?(PS you’re a wonderful player by the way)
Thanks mate, I appreciate that! Yes indeed, both work.. I think I mention in the lesson at some point that Eb major 7 is just another option instead of Eb7.. it’s basically down to what you fancy at the time. The major 7 is more diatonically “correct” but the Eb7 is more bluesy 👌🏻
@@AlexFarranGuitar thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question, that is really kind. Again, I’m a huge fan of your playing and your teaching. Cheers from Chicago, IL.

My pleasure buddy! Ah yes, that level of dirt is pretty intense.. often they ran straight into the desk and overdrove the heck out of the channel strip for that tone. You can hear that they drove the tape machines into the red for the entire mix too.. it was certainly the trend at that time. The JHS colour box can get those kind of tones with ease.. could be worth looking into ;)
