hello. Tablets are not in decline, they have reached saturation and bearing in mind the premium tablets are reliable and long lasting that is not a surprise. It is like car sales once everyone that wants one has one demand will settle. It is now a fight for the higher margin premium end and this is Google's attempt. Consumers are unlikely to buy this as a hybrid, the majority will buy it as a top end super fast Android tablet as iPad Pro buyers will also do. It is a niche market providing more choice for tablet users, it will not suddenly boost sales, they have peaked and will continue to fall till an equilibrium has been reached.
Didn't have enough power to do so. Due to having to have a large battery and a thin design, not much space for components such as RAM, CPU or GPU thus they had to be scaled down to ensure compatibility with product and as a side effect were not powerful enough to do split screen
***** clearly u know nothing about internal hardware... 1st gen iPad was good I had one... But it lacks behind several tablets out in the market today...
+Patrick Martz I just bought my first one last week - a cheapish android one that's pretty much the exact equivalent of Samsung's Tab E - and I plan to use it in meetings, showing others what we're working on.
+Patrick Martz bought not one, but 3 tablets over the years, and they do literally nothing my phone or laptop can't do. Just sold my last two tablets, not worth it in my opinion.
Tablets are losing because people are waking up and seeing that high end tablets have less performance, less functionality (ARM CPU and mobile OS as compared to a full desktop OS), all while being more expensive than the average non gaming laptop.
+Ravi Mandavi actually I was thinking you don't need a PC computer to make the transition, just a common screen. It's more of a windows phone which is also a pc stick ..

The next big thing is making your smartphone your computer, just plug in a big screen and voilá.
