- You may live your life and never see anything like this! The entire Sebastian inlet was filled with pinfish. The tarpon, redfish and snook were so thick you could walk on them. We took a piece of stingray out for shark bait. While Josh was taking photos with the red, the Avet 80 started screaming! Jeff fought the shark and eventually the line broke. Jeff caught a two redfish (only one is shown in this video) and I caught a 44" redfish. This was an amazing sight to see! Jahorace Epps helped film this video.

a fisherman's worst enemy is anticipation of whats on his hook.. an a fisherman's best friend is the "DRAG" knob, lever or switch depending on ur reel.. we could catch more fish if we learn to use them.. take ur time fellas!!!

here in Europe we work with the reel rode and experience and we do kill the fish in water and take them home to eat .

Still my favorite fishing video on TH-cam.

nothing "untrue" about a person who chooses to eat a fish caught and retained legally, either. One could argue that making sport of it is the "untrue" part.

that was a stupid statement about if everyone keeps the fish the ocean would be depleted.. you do know how fast fishes reproduce right? its the commercial fishing and toxic waste that's depleting it
I was at a lake here in texas a while back and they had a limit on brim fish, these little fish are not edible to a lot of people but the orientals was keeping everything they caught and because they keep everything the lake was getting depleted of feeder fish that bass and crappie fed on. when you deplete a fish or fish size it affects the system. everything affects the system even one fish

Awesome video! I fished an 80 wide from Jupiter Inlet and almost got spooled. We caught many a Huge bullshark from that inlet and off of A1A Bridge. Good stuff!!!
Nice video. I love rough water and bad weather fishing. Most people leave and throw the towel in. But 8 out of 10 times its a mistake. The pressure drops and the bite turns on. I've caught 30-35 lb. King Mackerel in straight mud water on the sandbar. In the fall in Venice Florida. My rule is no lightning no reason to leave. Enjoyed the video.
+Christopher Rodgers I agree, fishing is epic when it's rough. Lighting is no good though.
I hope Jeff learnt a couple lessons considering he lost both a fish and a shark. Firstly on the fish, point the rod in the air applying pressure and keeping the line tight - not to the side. Secondly on the shark, he tightened the drag up way too much causing the line to break - he then tried to blame it on the knot. He was panicked and rushed, he needs to learn to take his time to fight and turn the fish [or shark in this case] on the end of his line. Better luck next time, just learn from your losses and one day you'll get that trophy sized photo.
Also one other thing, if you plan on releasing the fish please don't put your hands up underneath within the gills as it often damages them and makes them less likely to survive once released.

I've been there it's such a good fishing spot
We yak baits here in Texas, never ever without a pfd. I don't care how good a swimmer you are. 20/0 hook in your thigh with steel leader and 15 pound rock and 4 pound ray dragging in the current, good luck getting back in! no one going to save you out there.
+iamatt Just putting in looked hazardous enough out there. Maybe I'm just chicken, but the beach looking area on the north side of the inlet, west side of the bridge looked worth the wait.

what he is referring to is the strong current clearly very dangerous rip tides going through a small point and clearly he struggled hence the warning.

First black tip h video I’ve ever seen
Not bad at all. Lived in Brevard for nearly 20 years and hit the inlet many times. Bad weather is the best since everyone packs it in and you get plenty of room to yourself. Many of the public docks about a mile north of the inlet are also killer for night fishing. Plenty of nights hooking tarpon and snook until 5 in the morning. That's about the only thing I miss about the place;)
put some KFC on that hook, you'll know what your goanna catch

Michael, the reason for that is because bigger fish=more eggs and sperm. It's these fish that are the most for the reproduction stock. Besides, most huge fish don't even taste that good, young adults are better.
Its called a "slot limit", and its based on the biology and reproduction of the red drum. You can keep redfish over 18" and under 27". Redfish bigger than that are breeders, spawn offshore and used to be fished commercially using spotting planes. It almost wiped out the species so they outlawed it and introduced size restrictions.
i lived in sebastian for a little over a year and i know there are some giant fish in the inlet...but ive only seen a few people catch them and bringem on land...good job guys
I do a lot of river fishing here in Michigan, but I sure do miss the salt water fishing. Never had a large shark on but that looks like so much fun!

Catch and release is fishing for the future. This should be encouraged in all fishing situations, not just when it's illegal to keep fish.

good people with good fishing etiquette this is super great stuff! you know there's monster hammerheads that hang around the old Skyway Bridge piers and 800-pound goliath grouper! I think somewhere on TH-cam there's a video of a guy trying to catch a tarpon and hammerhead comes up and eat it size of his boat ! and all he's left holding is the head of the tarpon in his hand !

Fun video. You may have lost the shark because your leader was not long enough. The skin on a shark will wear through mono. If you are hunting for a 10 foot shark, use at 12-15 feet of wire. Good luck. Oh yeah- just had to say- next time you may want to get redfish back in the water a little more quickly to increase their chances of survival. Imagine sprinting then being held under the water at the end of your sprint! :-)

That's how you use a throw net! No putting it over your shoulder or in your teeth. Just make sure everything is right and choke up on larger ones and throw it straight out. A Russian guy tought me this method and it works perfectly. Even with giant rocks and current like in this vid I rarely get hung up. I have to get back down to Florida. Great fresh and salt water fishing.
