    Having spent 30 odd years in America, I have to say, you have seen more of my country (Ireland) than me, soon to be rectified. And using your videos as a reference. Good work Ken and Carol, stay well.

    I really like your videos, very professional and informative to your viewers. I find that a more popular channel that is doing the same type of videos tend to be self serving with one of the vloggers being a petulant child at times. It is quite enjoyable watching your videos because there is no drama.

    Your video footage is awesome. This video takes place in the same places I visited four years ago when we based out of Roundstone...we visited that same abby and also went into Westport. Ran into the same traffic issue you did, but the traffic was due to a funeral and also the Irish Football championship weekend since the local team was in the final. Really enjoy vour adventures!!!

    Yet another video triumph. It's great credit to you that you've only uploaded this two hours ago and have well over 1200 views. The content, style, music, commentary and everything else is just fantastic. I admire your stoicism regarding the weather - you don't mind if it's wet or dry. Those fires are awful and I hope they end as soon as possible. It’s high time a solution was found to stop this now annual event both in the USA and Australia, our ancestors knew what to do about it but I sense there is not the political will to take those steps anymore.

      I stick to the legal limit which is plenty high enough for my needs. The trick is to think about the shots you need before you take off and then fly along the most efficient path to get them. You can make a battery last a long time if you plan the shot before you take off. Most people do their thinking in the air and thus don’t get the shots they need. 👍

    Your videos are beautiful and your journey is amazing. Do you go to Clifden in a few days?
    Please, do you want to take a video of Glenbricken: this place is near north Clifden circa 2,5 miles.
    On the road N59, take on the left to go to Glenbricken. I am in France and I will be very happy to view this beautiful place surrounded by woods, forests and mountains. I will so glad to view Glenbricken (eircode: H71 PY22). At the end of this way, there is Glenbricken Lough.
    Thank you very much and have a great trip.

    (from Canada) you are bringing back a lot of great memories for us when we visited Ireland in 2014. We stayed at a B&B in Westport for 8 nights and took daily adventures in all directions (like the spokes of a wheel) during that time and one was a great visit to Kylemore Abbey and like Carol my wife enjoyed touring the Victorian Walled Gardens. At one part of our walk in the area of the Mausoleum we encountered the worse case of midges, my wife got bit a few times, however they didn't bother me at all.

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to hear our film brought back some happy memories of your trip (excepting the midge attack). When I took the initial drone shot that morning from across the water near the main road the midges were very thick and so it was a very quick flight. I think they must have those machines that deal with them in the Abbey grounds otherwise it would be a miserable visit. There were none in the grounds that we noticed but down by the Mausoleum you are probably near the edge of any control measures. 👍

      That was a cock up in the edit as I was supposed to include it but forgot 🙄. The story goes that Ireland was colonized by the English and when Queen Victoria, nicknamed the “famine queen" in Ireland, died, the Irish were told to paint their doors black in mourning. In rebellion, they painted them in bright colours. Not sure if it’s true but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was. 😁👍

      We will have had the van 1 year on 1st October. We have so far spent 95 nights in it and covered over 10K miles. It would have been quite a bit more had Covid not stopped us for a while. We have really enjoyed it but be aware its cramped and you need to get on well to cope in such a small space. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages though as we can take it to places a larger van cannot reach.

    Long time since I was in Westport, the early 1980's I think. I have only ever been as far down as Galway. The Irish Gaelic dialect sounds so different from the Donegal dialect the further south you go. My parents when they were alive couldn't understand it even though it's the same language.
    Very nice scenery and it always rains in Ireland no wonder it is so green.
    Where you a history teacher previously?
    I wonder why your channel isn't called "The Little Red Camper"? More apt I think.
    p.s. I finally finished my van build. th-cam.com/video/GsWi6QMJFhg/w-d-xo.html

      IRISHROVER i just checked out your van. Very nicely done 👍 No I was not a history teacher. I was a policeman in Sussex and retired after doing my bit on a comfortable pension which is what allows us to do what we do. Life is too short relates to my view on life which has developed over the years. Its too short to worry about things beyond my control, about upsetting people who are negative, or being scared to try new things. ‘The Little Red Camper’ relates to this vehicle and no doubt at some point in the future that will change to something else but the ethos of life is too short will continue until we are done. 👍. I hope you are going to get back into the filming saddle and show us your trips in the new van now 😏

    • @irishrover63
      @irishrover63 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't have you down as a policeman somehow. Just retired myself after 39 years in education.
      Life is too short for sure, known many people who have been taken early by illness or accident.
      I got into making TH-cam videos by accident. Whilst my son was doing a television and filming course at college, we bought him a Drift HD Ghost when they first came out. It was the wrong camera for what his course entailed, so instead of selling it I just started using it on bike trips. After 200 video uploads I felt the whole TH-cam scene was saturated with similar content, so I lost the motivation.
      Now since doing the van build I have been watching many van lifers and builders, some I like and some I just think have a rather over inflated egos. I can't say that I will start filming trips in the van because like the biking vlogs there are many out there doing the same thing, my wife for sure would not approve, she doesn't even watch my bike videos. Lol.
      Technology has certainly moved on since I started with drone footage and stabilisation built into GoPros. I used to film raw I suppose with warts and all, now we are used to polished productions. Nothing wrong with that and you pull it off very well.
      I did enjoy making the van tour, although voice over isn't really my thing, but I do understand why it does work.
      Good luck on your travels and I'll keep checking in. Cheers. 🍺

      @LifeistooshortCK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never say never. I make these videos for our memories but I have wondered for some time if I could make a youtube channel work so this is my attempt. I have done a fair bit of amateur teaching on film making, photography and software use since I retired so I have some idea of how rewarding teaching can be. I had great teachers both at school and in my job who helped me enormously.
      There are many many vloggers these days of all shapes and sizes but there is always room for good content. Anybody who has uploaded 200 films has it in their blood I think.
