What a difference it makes between taking your time and being gentle with them and immediatly cupping them and stressing them out even more - I actually advised Tom Moran to have a look at your channel so he would have less hair-kicking, but he took it as negative critique and dismised it, which is truely a shame. Since I implemented your teachings to my own collection, I've had no escapes, no hair kicking and no defensive posturing. You're truely a credit to the community!
Anyone I know thinks spiders are disgusting, so I don't bring it up much. It's nice to watch these videos and hear him talk about how beautiful these tarantulas are.
Wonderful video Dave!! She is absolutely beautiful and a large spider, I had one back in the early 90’s and she grew at an alarming rate! They seem to be very well behaved a little nervous if startled but overall great spiders. She will love her new home Dave and a thanks to you for adopting her in! Camera lady great job and the closing footage superb! Thanks so much guys I really love the L.P’s!!🕷
Great video. I have one of these. She was in a real bad state when I fell upon her. She had merely an enclosure, no hide, no anything. She was very aggressive as well. Every hair on her butt missing. So I took her on in september, gave her a proper enclosure with three different hides and she's as calm as you can ask for. Lovely species and imo quite easy to care for, as you yourself state in this video. Thank you sharing. And merry christmas. Really felt warm watching this 😊.
You’re very knowledgeable, but the thing I have to commend you on the most is your video making skills. I get sooooo annoyed with videos where every 8 seconds there’s a cut. Your ability to flow and make a continuous video is so refreshing and makes watching so much more enjoyable. Bravo sir.
We just realized your program reminds us of the old PBS lineups. Fit in with Bob Ross, The Yankee Workshop, Dave's Little Beasties and YanCan Cook.....
I have one from about 7 years now and she survived every conditions, can fast for long time but when she's hungry she will show you waiting by the terrarium door, just like a puppy :D . very nice beginner spider :)
I have a LP sling and i can only hope for mine to grow into such a beauty. Fantastic information as usual. Her previous owner will surely find comfort In knowing she has a great new home
What a beautiful and gentle giant she is indeed. It must have broken the heart of the pre-owner. Hope, he'll recover in Spain. Thank You so much for sharing!
Hi Dave, have been watching your channel for a while now and at the ripe old age of 66yrs have just got my 1st Tarantula! Is a beautiful 'curly hair' female. Not sure of age but measured total body length about 65mm (if I estimate leg span I'm sure to get it wrong) It was a long drive home and maybe she was stressed because she the just sat in the top corner of the enclosure (same enclosure as the one in this video) for about 3 days, didn't see her move. Next day she had a wander round then sat up on top of her coconut hide. Thought she might be awaiting food so tried large cricket but no interest, will try again in a couple of days. She was being fed 2 large crickets a week hope that will be ok for now. The professional way in which you handle/manage your spiders is a great example to anyone who comes into the hobby. Many thanks for putting out this great content, wishing you and your family (and your spiders) a great festive season.
Thats awesome I would not worry about her not eating they will fast for long periods of time , its more important her abdomen does not shrink , as long as she holds condition she will be fine 👍
@@luffebassen Thankyou for the info is greatly appreciated. I have a hygrometer above the water dish in the corner this is the dampest place in the enclosure and reads 75% I have placed another one on top of the mesh cover(back down) at the other end where the hide is this is reading 60%( It would read different inside just wanted a idea) Room temp is 20/21c. Have a small oil filled radiator in the corner of the room on thermostat keeping enclosure area 21/22c. Hope this is OK Thanks again
@@luffebassen Thanks once more for the info, it's very welcome. As someone just starting out always wondering if I'm doing things right, especially as the welfare of any animal in our care is of the highest concern. Put the enclosure on the floor, removed the top to have a really good look around inside and do some clean up. Things looked pretty clean but I did notice the substrate was quite damp(not wet) I have overflowed the water dish once but really only a little. I do remember when I was buying the spider online looking at photos and the substrate was brown in colour and darker around the water dish where it was damp. However thinking back when I collected it, the substrate was black everywhere and the coconut hide was dark at the bottom where it had been absorbing water. I did not think much of it at the time as humidity readings were OK and therefore did not check the substrate. But with a full mesh top I think the 'air humidity' was Ok substrate was too damp?? Have added more substrate (dry coconut fibre) might move her to her new enclosure tomorrow. I have a Exo Terra set up ready as when I decided to get a tarantula a just assumed it would not come with a enclosure. The mesh lid on the one she came in is a little damaged. As a side note I removed the mesh from the ExoTerra and replaced with perspex with vent holes drilled as I'd heard tarantulas can get their feet stuck in the mesh if they climb around the roof, after doing this saw a video on this channel where Dave says it is not necessary but had changed it by then. Thanks again for your help
I so look forward to reach my planned situation with my T's. After they all grow up fully and etc. Having an easy stable +/- routine with minimal maintenance and further apart feedings. Oh the joy of this hobby.
Beautiful spider, Dave. She is mellow & quite cooperative for you. I can’t wait to see you feed her. I do hope you’ll at least give us a peek of her first feed? 🤔🕷🕸🪳👍🎄🎁👏
This is a really beautiful lasiodora parahybana 👍 A stunner! I have only a lasiodora striatipes in my collection, also a beautiful thing. Nice to see a common spider like L. parahybana on you channel. Great video as always 👌
We haven't seen a rehouse in a while so I was really pleased to see this one!! My LP has just moulted recently. The size they get after each moult is impressive! Loved the video mate and the smellavision had me chuckling lol atb!
I just love watching the amount of care you give to putting together these enclosures. So relaxing to watch ❤ And as a side note: Dave, the way YOU interact and handle the tarantulas make them all seem like beginner spiders. You have such a way of showcasing and emphasizing their strengths. It shows precisely that, no matter the size, reputation, or species of animal, if you treat them with respect you will get respect in return
Mine was eating full grown mice with zero issues. She was a pro at grabbing them at the back of the head. I started feeding mice at about 4 yrs old. She'd eat anything that I dropped in her tamk. I had gotten her as a dime sized 'ling in Feb of 1994. As you had stated, they are easy to care for and very hardy. After all this time and many species later, she's been my favorite. I hope to get another here shortly. I have to wait until my room addon is complete on the house.
Got to love a beautiful LP. Never had any issues with humidity and mesh tops even with high humidity as you get a decent airflow, which I found critical on chams and tree boas, ok I had spray bars in mine on timers but as you said as long as keeping an eye on the humidity I find overall much healthier environment
Omg WANT ONE!!!! 😁 Awesome video Mr and Mrs Dave ❤️ love the bit at the end just showing her, I would love it if you did that on more of your vids, love watching them just being spiders 🕷 🙏🥰😍😘
Hello Dave once again a very nice video with an amazing beautiful animal. i always find your terrariums very well set up and largely species appropriate. here is a little suggestion from me that you can think about if you want. For the first time in my life I have never said aww when I've seen a spider 🕸️ the way she was sitting next to the stick like it was a comforter a big beautiful girl
Whenever you’re building these things, I always imagine myself as a tiny little person living inside that world. (Not with the spider, mind you.) So cool.
Best part about your videos is the head scratch at the beginning , as if you are clue less what to make 😅.......lovely enclosure....lovely decoration with moss and plant 🪴
I found this very informative! My mom gave me a teeny, tiny baby Salmon Pink Bird Eater back in January. (Since it buried itself and disappeared, I guess I have a female!) The only way that I knew that she was still alive for several months was that the crickets would vanish within a few hours of my dropping them in. Then one day, there she was, out in the open and huge compared to how small she once was! She had actually grown too big to go back under the substrate anymore; so I transferred her to a bigger terrarium. She made her burrow in the corner this time, so I can always see her now! She's molted a couple of times over the past few months, and after a few days she'll drag the old skin to the surface. (I've been saving them, like a mother saving their kid's hair clippings!) This is indeed my first Tarantula, and I'm absolutely loving it! I'm definitely looking for that kind of tank when I have to upgrade next time.
Wow Dave, she is amazing such a stunning spider, I could watch her move all day fascinating, she certainly fancied a walk about the beastie room lol, Thankyou so much for taking the time to make these videos, you and camera lady do a sterling job, I’ve been a good boy this year I’m hoping Santa brings me one of those…
Wow, thank you Camera Lady and David. She really is impressive. I always love to watch you guys build an enclosure. I would love to see how she goes. Take care and Happy Holidays❤️👍🏼
Yeaaaa! Finally one I have!!! I just acquired one of these! Although mine is only about the size of an American half dollar & still sling color. Can't wait till she grows up!

Hello 🕷 🕸 🕷 lover Aye, yes, he is amazing 👏 ❤ And his spider homes are pretty to look at, he's a fabulous spider 🏡 interior designer 👌 From Glasgow 🇬🇧🙏🏻
Wow she's very pristine, the previous owner did a fabulous job of taking care of it, It's not stressed out she very well behaved, very very beautiful as well. Please keep us updated I would love to see the enclosure all webbed up. See what she's have done to it please!!!! If when you guys have time.. again my friend a wonderful wonderful video. You never disappoint 💯 Can't wait for the next and want to wish you both over again Happy holidays...🎅🎄🎁🕸️🕷️👍
I love your enclosures, everyone looks as though it is a nice area under a tree in the wild, your decor and enclosures look bloody naturalistic! The moss on the bottom is a wonderful addition it looks great and it also serves a purpose, I watch many spider channels and none of them use the moss for inside their enclosures! That spider, I am calling her Bella (Italian name) meaning beautiful because she is absolutely stunning! Well done Dave another great video, merry Christmas to you both, I hope you have an amazing time! ❤️🎄🌲🎄🕸🕷🤶🧑🎄🎅🤩
Aww.The moment I saw this Beauty it gave me a little sting, because She reminded me of mine who passed away 4 Years ago. So, I can totally empathize with Her former Owner. Besides your almost meditative video I enjoyed your excitement of her being in such good shape and manner even more. 😀 Wishing you, Camera Lady and all your beasties merry Christmas from Germany!
gorgeous specimen, coincidence this vid came up in my random list as i just acquired a juvenile LP and she/he is already by far the largest in my tiny collection of 6 and the most chilled
I have two of these beautys... both are young but great eaters! They're such a beautiful species. Thank you Dave for showcasing this lovley large tarantula. I think they're overlooked in the hobby! As always... excellent video. You abd Camera Lady do a wonderful job teaching beginners the right wat to care for their spiders! Bravo!!👏
Yay!!!! So happy to see this lovely beasty! I have one and, I absolutely adore it! When I got it for Christmas last year, it was only 3/4 of an inch, this Christmas it's about 3 inches. I was pretty sure mine was healthy and, doing well. This video and, your comments solidified that, as mine looks exactly the same only smaller. All my best to you and, camera lady have a Merry Christmas!....oh, and Dave,...we're not short, we're vertically challenged! WINK, WINK LOL
Beautiful LP! All the best to her former owner 🍀 My adult female LP isn’t as nice as this lovely lady. She doesn’t throw hair immediately, but strikes at everything, due to her crazy feeding response 😅 even the water isn’t save when I fill her water bowl. If I want to tidy up her enclosure, I have to put a large tupper container over her. She webbed up everything on the floor, doesn’t dig a lot and she prefers dry spots over wet ones. They’re great „goliaths“ for beginners.
You got her in there so gently and kindly. It just goes to show that if your gentle, they sense it
He is so amazing with his handling. He shows how knowledgeable he is everytime he handles any spider. Much respect for him!!
@Arco's Ghost Yes! The best rehousing guy too!! 🥰
What a difference it makes between taking your time and being gentle with them and immediatly cupping them and stressing them out even more - I actually advised Tom Moran to have a look at your channel so he would have less hair-kicking, but he took it as negative critique and dismised it, which is truely a shame.

A little tickle and patience goes a long way with a spider :)

All the best to her former owner 🍀
My adult female LP isn’t as nice as this lovely lady.
