I'm over here playing one game a week and splat manages to dig a golden nugget after Golden Nugget out of the Indy mines every single day. Sometimes it might only be pyrite but at least it's shiny and new. Always a great day for a splat video.
This is not a dig on Splat, but it is easier when you have the devs reaching out to you and sending you demos/keys for free. Plus he can get a bit of a backlog by testing them and knowing some that can be used for another day, basically a ongoing ranking list and adding more to it all the time. The real gems are the ones where you see him having more then 12 hours, that means it survived testing, a video, and a stream and is still being played either for him or on more streams.
I really hope the next part of the game has a part where it start silent then has the boss talking about hiring a sound engineer cause of someone complaining, then suddenly sound.
Simulation games that are built around you business managing, city building, or god-moding aspects of completely different game genres are my jam, so I'm immediately locked in. I still think My Life as a King needs to come back.
I like the idea of it's intended feature where you can visit other players games. Because we all k ow some crazy person is going to maximize the game and create a super fun game within the game
Loved that they made a demo version specific to you with that blockbuster IRQ chat hilarious. I think this game has a lot of promise, unsure about if it will have a narrative like it does in the demo I kinda hope it has a few depending on the game type that you choose to make. There is also going to be a creative mode that I believe skips over the whole balancing employees/finances and lets you just build an MMO. Hope they release some more news/streams/vids on this game to see how they are progressing.
The hook I came up with is this is Tron, and both worlds are the "real" world. The early hook could be one of the first quest NPCs you place as a designer changes its dialogue from something quest related to emploring you, the designer, for help. Lord Richard's avatar runs over and smites him, makes an offhand comment about bugs, and a new NPC spawns in that functions as intended. The game generally continues with what I believe to be the devs' current intent for gameplay, but with this underlying thread of the NPCs being sentient AI or alternate universe or whatever, and they need your help to break free of Lord Richard who's exploiting them as pawns for personal profit.
I hope they finish and polish this, because it truly leaves a lot to be desired. I can see it doing well, but it needs much love from its current state
19:31 The inside jokes here is that Richard Garriott's avatar was indeed killed inside his own game (Ultima Online), sparking the biggest slaughterfest in the game
Considering that this is a game about making a game, sound effects should be something you have to unlock and buy, like the quest equipment and NPCs...
I’ve been trying to watch different channels play this game and the way they play where they haphazardly place things everywhere to meet the quest goals really irritates me, it looks so bad. I love the way that splatty goes into things with somewhat of a plan and is actually making something that resembles an MMORPG.
Another review I saw of this game showed someone applying to be the sound effect developer, but nothing came of it before the end of the demo. Can't tell if sound is just missing and they lampshaded it, or if that's actually going to be an in game thing.
This game looks so cool. i hope though they add some kind of party system. If you ever played the game majesty, that would be cool. Currently, in the demo, it's a little too easy to make a dungeon to difficult for the npcs.
Oh man, I miss tabula rasa. first MMO I played that didnt just have mosnters standing in a field. having them attacking bases and going on patrols was a major change.
Tabula Rasa is such a blast from the past. I pre ordered it from a shop and only had to pay $5. When they changed it to a monthly fee and full price game i just didnt pickup the game. I should lookup why they went so greedy.
"Underpants Island. An amalgam of creatures, magic, and lost civilizations of yore". Why do they call it Underpants Island? "Because the island.... is under your pants!"
Splattercat's avi pops up in-game, then a conversation about Splattercat's name with the mentioning of Thundercats. That's wild. Is that Ai or was it created specifically for Splattercat?
Somebody is working out their trauma from being killed by Lord British back in the day. Making a video game about making a video game about it... that's meta. Gotta respect it.
Imagine being a "corner-of-the-house" NPC: your career prospects are slim. At best, maybe one day the house will have many floors and you will have window to see outside... NPC-life, sigh (We should not give them an actual AI that could become sentient :P).
The quirky humor is a bit distracting imo. Its like one of those funny ha ha moments that gets old really quick after a while. The initial premise sounded cool and was half expecting something like a tycoon game + dungeon keeper god game. This sorta felt like a gag game that you probably could only play once and then never play again.
I know how to make the best MMO, copy wow or FF14→change the look→put a huge shop with as many microtransaction as possible→make everything inconvenient if do not pay.
Now why would I play at working when I already have to work? Also maybe they should ease off on the Richard Garriott stuff, it's kinda lazy and cheap. It's not like he's the worst that ever was, and at least he has made good games himself contrary to some other publisher CEO's who should rot in hell.

Ah Splattie, our devine Magpie lord, finding all the shinies.

@@coreytaggart128 Woah. You're saying that makes me think Splat is one of the life-bringers of indie games.
Thanks for checking out our demo - really cool to watch you play through!
I really hope the next part of the game has a part where it start silent then has the boss talking about hiring a sound engineer cause of someone complaining, then suddenly sound.

Yeah, I really liked that game. I am glad someone else mentioned it. This game sounds interesting too.
That ICQ chat (or IQC), and loading screen of your own game, blew my mind. Did not expect that :D
And the publisher king is scary !
Hmm, that blockbuster email is a scam/fraud, no?
imagine the possibilities with AI
Perfect opportunity to run with the underpants island missed. Coulda called it Bikini Bottom.
23:30 the funny thing is the non-splat version of the demo, someone complains that there IS NO sound effects, like Splat
LMAO that's a good touch!
They know him so well that they knew they could rely on him to make that critique himself.
This is the most accurate representation of Richard Garriott I've ever seen.
Nah met him once and he would have definitley found a way to tell you that he was in space ^^
@@NecrosTheDark lol. I am Bob's complete lack of surprise.
the moment the npc starting pointing out the absurdity of the grass now being an infinite source of gold coins... wishlisted.

Alright, this game kind'a breakes the fourth wall on itself, very interesting! That "Lord Richard" reminds me a lot of Ragnar Lothbrok!
I loved their first Let's Build a, and this one is even more up my alley as a gamer. Added to wishlist. Thanks, Spalt!
Wow, that was almost as cool as finding the Splattercat nook in Wall World! Neat!~
19:35 I like the sense of humour of this publisher.
The Lord British cameo was a nice nostalgia touch.
I hope they finish and polish this, because it truly leaves a lot to be desired. I can see it doing well, but it needs much love from its current state
I worked at a video store... $8k isn't the largest late fee I've ever seen.
What a unique premise! This could very well be its own genre in the future. Very interesting!
Cool narrative. I genuinely think I'd enjoy this game due to that factor only.
19:31 The inside jokes here is that Richard Garriott's avatar was indeed killed inside his own game (Ultima Online), sparking the biggest slaughterfest in the game
This is some high level targeted advertising!
That is a masterpiece of everything, that game won my internet piece :D.
What a unique idea for a game, very cool
@6:36 those are the suckers that bought into the early access of you MMO 🤣
Considering that this is a game about making a game, sound effects should be something you have to unlock and buy, like the quest equipment and NPCs...
Doki Doki Literature Club hid its metagame elements behind over an hour of gameplay
I was expecting them to find a trainable magical creature in the tall grass, but instead they cut it down and found a currency-jewel.
I’ve been trying to watch different channels play this game and the way they play where they haphazardly place things everywhere to meet the quest goals really irritates me, it looks so bad. You found the right line for your intro - “find out if this game is worth your time.”
I love this so far I wish the demo was bigger. I will be anticipating this title. Hope you follow up with it later.
Another review I saw of this game showed someone applying to be the sound effect developer, but nothing came of it before the end of the demo. Can't tell if sound is just missing and they lampshaded it, or if that's actually going to be an in game thing.
This reminds me so much of the old game No Hero's Allowed that initially came out on the PSP.
I'll die on this hill, Tabula Rasa needs to make a comeback
The people want a new Majesty game. I am the people, the people is me.
This game looks so cool. i hope though they add some kind of party system. If you ever played the game majesty, that would be cool. Currently, in the demo, it's a little too easy to make a dungeon to difficult for the npcs.
IDK if it is your personalized version, but the blockbuster bit got me to download and check this title out. Thanks for the video.
I wonder if the sound effects will be there from the beginning, or if those are gonna be something you need to unlock (develop) in the game.
so far it is clear that they have a great sense of humor
Oh man, I miss tabula rasa. first MMO I played that didnt just have mosnters standing in a field. having them attacking bases and going on patrols was a major change.
Hey nice, I was hoping you'd cover this game.
Tabula Rasa is such a blast from the past. I pre ordered it from a shop and only had to pay $5. When they changed it to a monthly fee and full price game i just didnt pickup the game. I should lookup why they went so greedy.
Looks really cool!
"Underpants Island. An amalgam of creatures, magic, and lost civilizations of yore".
Why do they call it Underpants Island?
"Because the island.... is under your pants!"
2:19 That demographic information reminds me of "Bartle's taxonomy of player types". But clearly modified for the games mechanics.
Was that the actual blockbuster logo? Can they use that?
Splattercat's avi pops up in-game, then a conversation about Splattercat's name with the mentioning of Thundercats.
That's wild.
Is that Ai or was it created specifically for Splattercat?
you just made one of the 1st task in a pokenom game. "Meet your rival"
this is absolutly nuts
Somebody is working out their trauma from being killed by Lord British back in the day. Making a video game about making a video game about it... that's meta. Gotta respect it.
If it's a $5 game, definately worth keeping our peepers peeled for if you just wanna burn down a few hours here and there.
I came second, as all gentlemen should.
I mean, that's pretty impressive while being on your own.
Imagine being a "corner-of-the-house" NPC: your career prospects are slim. At best, maybe one day the house will have many floors and you will have window to see outside... NPC-life, sigh (We should not give them an actual AI that could become sentient :P).
Anyone know WTH is happening with Splats Twitch? I miss him :(
But the first two lamps being off center must have been done intentionally to make me comment about it to boost the algorithm 💀
LMAO Owing money to Block Buster for Jak & Daxter and being contacted by Richard Garriott is funny.
Should have named your character Lord Fartish.
That virtual desktop looks like OS2 from IBM
there's a game in my game
but does the game in your game got game?
excellent!
This is hilarious!
Tabula Rasa RIP, I did enjoy it while it lasted.
Basically just mmorpg tycoon but might actually get updates in a resonable rate. Rather than 47 cosmetic updates and no new gameplay
LEROY!!!!! JENKINS!!!
... Girurtles?! 🤣👍
I want to sink a lot of time in this game, but I'll wait for release.
Shout out to FFXIV! Post ARR was a SLOG. And then Banger after Banger Expansion.
Yaar tu bahut sahi hai yaar
I want the game
I'm surprised the game didn't ban his character for using a vulgar word.
You just had to bring up Tabula Rasa :(
I miss Tabula Rasa.
Did... did this dev work for Richard? Lmfao 🤣😂🤣😂
🖤
This was to funny.
Atleast it wasn't a card game
comment for the comment god!
Want
The simulations of different things is getting a little out of hand lol. You might as well start developing a game yourself at this point.

Dude that dungeon builder gives you the perfect layout for copying dnd/pathfinder maps 😂
I know how to make the best MMO, copy wow or FF14→change the look→put a huge shop with as many microtransaction as possible→make everything inconvenient if do not pay.
I was excited until I saw the blatant gen AI art...
Now why would I play at working when I already have to work?

I hate the thru-quests. They’re just bad filler episodes.
