Not at all my kind of game but you know what? As soon as I hear the words “what’s up guys n girls, welcome to the nerd castle” I know my next half hour is gonna be spent in good company cheers Splatt!
Yeah, same here
Every other sentence that comes out of his mouth makes me want to cringe. I don't know of any person that tries to use as many words but manages to fail so miserably because they don't understand what they mean. The reason I keep coming back, though, is because he tends to find good games. I just watch his videos on mute.
@@vitfirringur I bet you are a joy to be around in real life
@@vitfirringur Actually, I find his word smithing the best part of his videos. He's unique in that regard. 🙃
The 'and girls' alone warms my heart. It's really nice to not be excluded 😊
Looks interesting, not sure if it's quite there yet, maybe with some more polish. The narrative is weirdly at odds with the gameplay though. "All life was extinguished" trees and plants everywhere "protect the world tree seedling" mining out its roots at every stop
Not really sure what that's about 😂
Pretty sure the roots aren't the seedling's, but yeah, all that greenery everywhere kinda discounts the "all life was extinguished" theme.
I'm just thinking about it as the only areas with life are the "islands" where the big beast rests. The rest are simply devoid of anything (even if the background shows some greenery).
@@darkshadow19 Interesting. Maybe they should change the background to reflect this during the part where the beast is travelling. That's would be pretty cool.
Great point
Yeah, the narrative is very minimal right now. Like, what are the monsters? Why are they attacking you? If life seems to be restarting okay on its own, why is the sapling even needed? Is it actually needed? Who are you to this game, as in, what is a caretaker? Where did you come from if life was extinguished? What are the golems about? Why do you need other souls to create the golems rather than, you know, the life energy the tree is supposedly generating? Why is the title referring to a boat, when you're on a log creature? Why is it in reference to a journey to the afterlife and death when the story is about the restoration of life after death? Wouldn't that be Adonis or maybe Persophone or Janus?
"Long ago, just before the World Tree was consumed by the forces of darkness, its caretakers, the golems, spirited away a single seed in hopes for an uncertain future. Now the seedling has sprouted, and it's up to you to discover a nursery where it might blossom to push the darkness back once again. Gather resources to defeat the forces of darkness and reclaim the World Tree's stolen Light to help the young seedling grow and strengthen you along your journey."
Then every place you settle down is a wasteland that you cultivate as much as you can before carrying on, and the area explodes into life as you rise, leaving evidence of your positive influence on the world as you progress. Something like that might make everything a little more clear and cohesive.
Cracked CDs were rampant about 10 15 years ago when I was a kid.
I got Minecraft that way and, what do I know, another CD was in there labeled with a pen "Craft The World"
I loved the game and literally like yesterday was looking to get it again.
Im glad you actually know it too. Always thought it to be a small time game
🎉
"Can't wait to see what this shiny thing does"
*Gets distracted talking about boring production lines*
"Did we get anything from here? I can't see anything so I guess not"
Brother next time just watch the guy and see what happens lmao that was so unsatisfying
wait, is this the third game about building on the back of a giant creature we are getting this year ? was that some kind of game jam theme that spawmed 3 full fledged games ?
The wandering village has been in early access for quite a while already.
I was thinking the same thing, a dino a space whale and now this
that's what I've been wondering. I feel like I've seen previews of so many of this particular conceit that there must have been something that inspired everyone
Honestly I think 50% of indie creators are just as creative bankrupt as AAA corpos.
Like when Rimworld was coming out: Rimworld is a wonderful mix of tower defence, survival and a more arcade take on DwarfF, then 2 years later you had like 20 games that were Rimworld with a slightly different setting and worse mechanics (and every single one of them sucked)
They probably just copy paste from the original, wait for pre-orders, but never deliver a finished product.
Charon is the name of the Boatman of the River Styx.
Craft the World itch? I have that condition. I will listen intensely.
Same, I've only seen a couple games like it and both Oxygen Not Included and Ratopia though still good turned out to be a bit too different from craft the world for me. There is also a game about people in hell or something but it got mixed reviews so I forgot about it
These games consume me, man. Literally could, and have, spent hours of my life ignoring everything else but the game. Once started early in the morn and didnt quit - for anything - until midnight.
Activates my neurons in such an oddly specific way
Hope you had a mop and bucket near by. 🤔

Real men use bottles and tubes.
Kinda reminds me of 'Oxygen Not Included'. Different style but very similar in a lot of aspects.
almost identical, except there don't seem to be liquids or gasses to work with.
Craft the World was one of the first games I saw Splattercat play, many years ago. I miss the days of Splattercat let's plays.
Splatty has crafted a new world! (for himself)
This game is honestly looks way too similar to cfw...
Petunia!? Absolutely not. 😂
Craft the world was a good dopamine getter, but ruined by the horrific pathing and awkward on the rail tech tree (low branches but high tiers)
This game looks good. I'll be picking it up
Not too bad.
It was Craft the World that first brought me here to the Nerdcastle, all those years ago when it came out.
I do actually miss Splattercat's outro that was "Hi-doo", which was something he picked up from the dwarves in Craft the World 😛
you know a game is great when Splatter already gave his outro but continues to play anyways ROFL XD I don't blame him cuz this game looks like absolute fun!
"ballister" was actually used at one time to mean a type of crossbow. They called the users "arbalisters" also. It isn't commonly used anymore, but it isn't wrong either.
Crossbow is "Arbalet" in russian
1:48 ”We’re playing one handed boy” splat, I don’t think you know what is associated with this phrase.
How many times did Splat say "shaft" in this video?
"Look like we are playing one handed today boys" Yup yup yup understood
I didn't think it was that type of game, but let's see where this goes...
There's no typo, "ballister" is an obsolete word for a crossbow. It originates from the very same latin word "ballista"
Always a good sign when Splatty keeps playing through the outro 😀
I really like this type of game and this looks awesome. Thanks man, wishlisted already.
So it's basically "Craft The World", but with a mobile colony? Neat!
Desperately needs better tutorial and some access to basic information in game. I spent more than an hour digging, planting, and building aimlessly at the beginning, then was told the Darkness was coming, so, sure, move on. Found out that only stuff in a small area (the very unclearly designated back of the Seedling?) would go with me, and that the Ballisters (sp) were going to be needed instantly and that the ones I'd built in the first stage didn't come with me because I didn't understand they had to be on the special patch of ground. So all my supplies were destroyed in about fifteen seconds. Quit the demo. Not sure I'll go through it again when there's so little indication of what it is I'm building towards.
Petunia, no Apex Dangle ... LMFAO 🤣
I played the demo today before the video went up, talk about timing!
I guess I do like the idea, a lot, but the execution doesn't convince me and the performance leaves a lot to be desired but the demo did pick up my interest and I take a look at the game once it comes out and people has time to play it and form an opinion.
I think you should get a craft the world LP going to warm up to this game so when it comes out you can do a LP on this game I was playing the demo and had a hard time putting it down it is quite the fun game. I really hope the developers polishes the game a bit more but overall its a fun game and would love to see a LP on this on your channel. Great content as always.
There is another game called the wandering village, similar concept. More fleshed out.
Currently addicted to this game it's so good.
I'm liking the aesthetic of the game itself. It reminds me of an old SNES game called King Arthur's World.
Another great video from the Iron Lord (or Cash Falcon)!!
Ahh... It's 2024, it's "Iron Ruler" nowadays.
Ballister Bolt??! It's ballista. Game breaking.
Not my kind of a game, but I'll watch for the Splatt. Love the world name lol
Turned out to be more down my alley than expected. Thanks Splatt!
you had me at "scratches my craft the world itch"
26:55" I need brrrrrrr", so what youre saying is you need Chewy 😂😂😂
Apex Dangle😂
Not my type of games... but hey ! Thanks for sharing this ! You're the best!
I want to see a game like this but instead of digging down into the creature where it is like wood, stone and dirt its actually flesh and what you would find on a living creature. And if you dig too deep early you can harm the creature you are building on. So you gotta build in a way to symbiotically exist with it or else your civilization collapses because you kill it. And maybe late game you get tech to biologically enhance it and also have to fight off its immune system when inside of it and on the surface fight off pests that try to invade your colony or infections/etc. It would be something like a flesh horror game mixed with what Ark of Charon is. Same concept but more complicated in terms of playing in a way that lets you exist symbiotically with it instead of linearly gathering resources and expanding.
So this makes, what?, like four-ish games where you're building a city on a creature now? It's practically becoming its own subgenre lol
What's with all the buidling on a creatures back games? 😂
Probably should have gone for the Rocket Launchers.
I like the concept.. It *looks* interesting. I can hope it plays well.
Really love your Videos to find Indien games :) thanks for the effort
I was about to buy this, but being EA i thought i had better chk out a couple of videos first. Oh and hey there Splatt
Apex Dangle.
This is why Splatty holds one of the 6 max subs I ever have at one time for the tube.
Looks like craft the world and the dome mashed together I like it
probably closer to wall world than the dome, but same thing really.
The log creature looks like a robot doggo from Boston Dynamics
Seems like a decent game, but difficulty right of the bat is not gamer friendly..
Weird that Splatt didn't make a entire execution line for a defense, entire front stacked with ballistas.
Kind of looks like you don't get the resource of whatever you mine through when laying down those ladders. So whatever shiny that was might have been sacrificed to the Ladder God.
That’s another horrible decision that needs fixing before releasing
I really liked this, already downloading the Demo on Steam
Getting some heavy Oxygen Not Included vibes from the first ten minutes here.
Yep, there's a lot of ONI in this game.
You can't cancel because that option is the Cencel option... :P
Thanks, Splatt.
It gives me "oxygen not included" vibes more than anything.
its literally a 1 for 1 clone of craft the world...
Let’s make a 4x4 continues to make a 4x6 😂
Day 10 of asking to see splat's wizard tattoo.
Hmm, visually it looks quite nice, but I'm not sure we see enough of the mechanics to see whether it really brings something unique to the table. Drill Core looks like it has more compelling wave defense gameplay, and the space whale game looks like its better for settlement manavement gameplay. Just a kind of weird middle ground.
Sunsoft? I haven't heard that name since the 80's-90's.
I just played the demo. There're some polish issues with controls and UI.
I loved the gameplay except for the combat sequence, which was borderline painful to me.
There's a 'no dark storms' mode but I want the pressure. I just REALLY hated the combat section. I felt a mix of being overwhelmed but also very bored.
Also, you can manually control the weapons, but my aim was only slightly better than the auto fire lol
Wandering Village + Craft The World it is interesting game :D I like Craft The World so ye :P
I think the developers need to tone the battle difficulty down a bit.
This feels like the game was designed by a ChatGPT at least UI-wise.
This seems like a reskin of Craft the world. 😮
oxygen not included mixed with terraria. noice
Same creators of oxygen not included? Cause it looks like it
I don't know if it's a British thing or something but I think "ballister" is spelled "ballista" normally.
Interesting concept
Ballista go "brrr"
My 7 year old self would love this, but my decades old critical self said not anymore buddy.
Let's get it, Splat!
the game looked good till the first night and you got wrecked
Eh, I think that the Wandering Village does it better even if it's not got the same complexity of mechanics.
This game is incredibly difficult...
excellent!
So it is craft the world but so far a little bit worse, gotcha.
Nomad Village?
Looks fun :D
Meh, not so much. It needs better firing control and stronger weapons. It's basically trying to be like a horizontal version of Dome Keeper...only not as good.
чарончик плюнул)
Boy.... if there would be affiliate links for videogames you'd be drowning in cash.
Don't build on a house or You will lose offensive capabilities.
Okay, looks like they're trying to ape Oxygen Not Included, and not doing a great job of it.
🖤
This was a cool game right up until the enemy being able to destroy the blueprints. wtf?!?!
I’ve seen that mechanic before. Also, splat didnt use the repair command a single time
@@HeliosFish for me that doesn't matter. That's a huge pain in the ass mechanic, and would ruin my enjoyment
Cool idea but not for me. I hate this time constrained building crafting games. I wish someone made a game like Craft the World, but without teleport spell...
Clearly the UI art is placeholder bud
Another one
Onbu > everything else
Hmm someone needs to tell the developer how to spell ballista correctly.
Ballister is an archaic name for crossbows, and these are a bit more in scale with a crossbow than the traditional ballista siege weapon.
@@mitchk7655 ohh ok! Good to know thanks!
Major Shaft 🤣
Craft The World is still much better than this.
0.o ❤
This is a blatant ripoff of The Wandering Village
Terrible style of playing. Mindless. :( Again.
Way too hard for my taste =/
Not really my kind of game...
5th
Can't stand side-scrollers. Waste of a game lmao.
2nd
Second!
Wow not even 50 likes, clearly fell off
Fantasy version of Oxygen Not Included
I mean yeah, but ONI was a sci-fi version of craft the world
@@lewden331 So it's a translation of a translation.
This seems like it'll get weird.
