For a company to last 50 years is a commendable achievement in today’s age of tough markets, economic woes, and corporate acquisitions. But this hasn’t always been the case. Today we take a look at eight companies that have survived through centuries of economic and political upheaval and market competition.
What types of businesses stand the test of time? Well, looking at the companies that have succeeded over the centuries the Infographics show can report that people like to have somewhere nice to eat, somewhere pleasant to sleep, and they like to get drunk from time to time. The majority of these organizations are family run affairs catering to a specific need but some are government-backed. From Japan’s longest running hot spring spa hotel to Ireland’s most historic pub, all these companies have truly stood the test of time.

It's clearly a remarkable brew and I hope to travel there one day to enjoy it at its freshest. After some failure in the 50s and 60s, they sprawled into all sorts of different kinds of operations, before bringing roots back to video games with Game and Watch handhelds and some VERY old arcade games. Donkey Kong's success in 1981 is when things really started to make sense.

I feel that Beretta should have made the list.
Definitely not as old as the others on this list, but hey,it's the oldest firearm company in the world, ever since the 1600s.

Since the 1300s, actually, though the oldest sale that they have a record of is from 1526, so that's their 'official' date of inception.

Fiskar should also be on the list, as they started out as an iron mill in 1647. Though, I feel like Fiskar should be the youngest on this particular list. Also, I don't think government agencies or government-subsidized businesses should count.

The one thing that is similar in all of these long lasting businesses is that they are family run.
It's amazing, working with your family, you can easily grow any business, because you can definitely trust your family members,
once in a blue moon you have a backstabbing family member, but that is not going to be the case for most people.
That's why, start a business in hospitality, food, or recreation, with your family, it'll see success and last through generations
