    I've had Audio Hijack for years. GREAT to set it up back up.
    But I tried and tried and tried to fiddle with BlackHole and other stuff to route my soundboard app as well as my external mic into OBS. Finally broke down and bought Loopback. In 5 minutes I had everything wired into OBS EXACTLY how I wanted it. Best $99 I ever spent.
    Now I'm actually spending time fiddling with EQ, Molot compressor, LoudMax Limit, and the Orban Loudness Meter in my Audio Hijack session, tuning audio settings for my next Live Session. Which is what I wanted to be doing a week ago. :)
    Tnx.

    Great info man thanks! Easiest way I’ve found is to just EQ the mic on AudioHijack and then filter everything else on steam labs, like compression, limiter. Sounds pretty good except for not having the greatest ear for the EQ part. I’m always making small tweaks to make it sound better.

    Audio Hijack is one of the most impressive apps for MacOS in my opinion. Well built, well updated, nice modules and plugin support.
    I have the "Magic Boost" sitting in my main-audio-stream. This balances out all the various youtube videos audio and sounds awesome.

    Great video! As a musician rather than podcaster and using Ecamm Live I have started with my vocal mic, and a guitar mic (AT3035) + blend with L.R. Baggs Venue DI, 3 inputs into Yamaha MG16XU then stereo out thru USB into MBP which has the Ecamm software. Do you think the HiJack as computer input and mixer/processor (with its abilities + potential plug-ins) then into Ecamm would ADD even more, “level up”, to being able to achieve even better audio quality? Combination of potential streaming projects and audio/video recordings for uploads. Thanks! Sorry for the long question! And a new subscriber to your channel.🙏🏻

      Hi Greg, and thanks for joining the community! You’re welcome to share your work on the Content Creator Connection group on Facebook as well. As to your question, it sounds like you’ve got a solid signal chain for music. What Audio Hijack will allow you to do is add dynamic processing to the entire signal chain, like compression and limiting, to get your output levels up to Internet streaming standards (and avoid clipping during streaming).

      Always double-end your audio! You should each use Audio Hijack (or even Quicktime, which is free) to record your audio locally. Make sure you're each using identical settings: 48khz, 24bit wav. Then simply sync in post and edit!

    Thanks for the great video Brian. Cannot believe the low views - what gives? This vid is spot on and super easy to follow.
    Just have a question/advice.... So in the lockdown stages of our lives I am running a LOT of meetings from home and wanted to improve sound quality from my headset. I do need to use a headset as others live in the house. Your video describes how to do this with EQ and output to a "virtual mic." But just wanted to make sure this is all I needed before taking the plunge. I would like to - adjust my voice eq, the IO levels, cancel out home background noises and output to meeting software (eg zoom). Optionally, would be great to get some of my voice fed back into headset, like in a studio, if that is at all possible. I'm MAC only user. What do I need?

      Great questions. I'll get you a detailed answer shortly.

    • @AudioforContentCreators
      @AudioforContentCreators  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John, thanks so much for these questions. Here's the short answer (full answer would require a video). You need an audio interface to be the hub of your system. Common recommendations these days are the Presonus Audiobox USB and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Run an XLR or 1/4 mic into the unit, which connects to your computer via USB. Plug your headphones into the headphone jack on the interface (1/4 stereo TRS usually - if you're using headphones with a 3.5mm jack, you'll need an adapter plug). Then use the "Mix" or "Monitor" knob on the interface to adjust the mix between hearing your own voice vs the computer audio. Usually 50% is a good place to start. Inside Audio Hijack set the input source to your interface and be sure to set both channels to which ever physical input you're using on the interface (so that your stereo signal consists of an identical L/R, which is your mic, now in dual mono). Run your EQ, limiter, etc after that. Now, in order to have a virtual output that Zoom or streaming software will recognize, you can either go the free route with Soundflower, which is open source but not user-friendly, or purchase Loopback from Amoeba, which is pricey but has a beautiful and intuitive user interface for really cool internal audio routing options. Send your output block to either Soundflower or Loopback. Then inside your streaming software or Zoom, choose that as the "mic." And voila! Super easy, barely an inconvenience 😂

      @mgatwentyfirstcentury4235 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AudioforContentCreators Awesome response Brian. Thank you so so much. I am a musician and have a home studio setup, so understand the audio interface component and how the mixing you have outlined would work - great stuff thanks!
      In relation to the noise cancelling, is this just a plugin available inside Hijack, Iike a noise gate?, that I simply drag into place like you did with the limiter in your vid?
      Edit: I just found an old vid that might have answered the above, Audio Highjack Pro included an effect from Apple called: "Dynamics Processor" that works like a noise gate. So if that effect was carried over or upgraded in the newer version, it seems I'm good to go?
