I started practicing before the internet by scouring libraries for occult books. Any encounters with other witches/pagans were very much gatekeeping and negative - it's hard to find others since I'm introverted and an atheist skeptic witch. I have been a solitary practitioner for over 30 years. But sometimes I really yearn for a group. Thank you for doing this and connecting people!

And people wonder why I'm of the left hand path lol. This also puts me in the far left politically, and I don't mean Biden left, but rather anarchy left. Many say left hand path is evil and not moral. I very much beg the differ. It does not state that darkness is better than light, for example. The core philosophy to all right hand paths are the ones that create hierarchical systems of inequality and gatekeeping stating "This thing here is always better than the other thing over there".
Left hand path, however, recognizes that all things are equal. That no one thing is better or worse, and for that matter, greater or lesser than another thing. All things have their pros and their cons. That everything needs to adapt and evolve as the earth does to the seasons. And finally, that all things including the actual soil beneath your feet deserves just as much dignity and respect, as you do.
I think you or anyone else who reads this can see why right hand paths dub left hand paths "evil". It's a threatening statement to those who would want to either seize control and/or to remain in control, religious and/or governmental, and also they have never been able to answer the reality spoken in that core philosophy of left hand paths. For example, most people sleep at night, and that's a good thing that comes from darkness. Therefore, just as much good comes from darkness as it does light, and just as much bad comes from light as it does darkness. Too much light is blinding but so too is too much darkness. And if too much light is blinding, and so too is too much darkness, then most definitively lukewarm is blinding as well. As said, one must adapt and evolve to every situation presented to them, throughout their life time. One can be just as fearful of love as they are of standing next to a cliff.
To dub left hand paths evil and immoral is the only way for right hand paths to contend with left hand paths but it's a false accusation based on the fact of not being able to answer that core philosophy of left hand paths. Right hand paths also say that people cannot govern themselves, as an argument to anarchists; however, every individual ever to walk this earth has governed themselves for thousands of years. That's called personal sovereignty, just the same as witchcraft, and left hand path. Once more, as you and anyone else can see, it reveals right hand paths for what they are: manipulative fantastical psychological speech patterns and thought forms to seize power and domination over everyone.
Light is always better than darkness, does indeed sound correct, until you here that too much light is blinding but so too is too much darkness lol. I'm sympathetic toward those who are trapped by right hand path entrapment, and speak out against the ones who do know better. What's the point of this? Work with those who you come across, that's your coven, but keep your personal sovereignty and don't let those who don't understand personal sovereignty grind your gears. However, a coven is just short for covenant, meaning that you have made a covenant and therefore you stand by your own covenant. You don't anyone else to be a coven, you are your own coven.

I am a 3. Generation hereditary witch that had a massive loss of faith avter I had my first daughter and had a big fall out with my father who is EXTREMLY in to, what you would call "the right hand path" and had raised me on it together with my grandmother. Very much good vs evil, always fighting demons and compensating for ones own shame and shadow with a broken martyr hero complex...
Even as a kid it felt wrong to me and I secretly always bended the teachings i recived to fit me a bit better.
I since became very atheist and had to let go of a lot of poisoned belives.
Mabye the left handed path is gonna give me some direction.

It along with anarchy and witchcraft is all about personal sovereignty because that's what true freedom is. Wicca and traditional witchcraft have separate origins. Traditional witchcraft has its bases in one's own bioregion. If it exists within two hundred miles of you in any direction it can be used as your foundation to your craft. You choose what is and what is not in your foundational craft. And then having that foundation you can, if you so like, extend outward into foreign areas. This also means, if need be just as the ancients did, use Christianity as a front but you're not really a Christian. You may instead be more folkloric, which most of traditional witchcraft, founds itself in the folklore of one's own bioregion. However, do remember, that atheism doesn't mean that you cannot be spiritual. In fact, the word "spirit" comes from the Latin word "spiritus", which when translated back to English you either get the archaic word "spirit" or what most people would say in the modern world "mind". The mind and the spirit are the same exact thing. The word "soul" on the other hand comes from the Latin word "anima". Anima, animal, animated; what do all of these words have in common? Energy. Therefore, the spirit is the mind, the soul is energy, and corpus is the body/physicality.

One feels the loneliness around the Sabbats most. When my coven imploded, I was so angry and bitter I didn't practice for ten years. The pandemic is what brought me back to the craft.
Welcome back, my Coven didn't so much implode but rather "aged out as so many just got too old / ill to travel & I still miss them every Sabat.Fellowship is what brought me here to this lovely community.
It also hits me the hardest when the sabbats roll around...maybe one day I will be able to find a community apart of the online community I am apart of but I am already so grateful for the people I have found here ♡

I’m blessed to have a group of uplifting girlfriends who all realized we were very interested in pursuing our femininity, creativity, and sense of community through exploring our connections to the earth, ancestry, cosmos, and beyond. It’s become a journey of self discovery and time to put ourselves first.
The Sabbats have become a time for us to get together and celebrate our sense of community. It’s sad that people have such a dark view of this way of life. It’s extremely beautiful and helps you reconnect to yourself away from technology.

I've never met up with a bunch of Witches, But my best friend and I meet up frequently and practice. We both came to witchcraft around the same time 15 years ago, so it's been a wonderful journey to share it all with someone. I love being Solitary but it is nice to meet up with my best friend to do spells and celebrate Sabbats. I lived in Germany for 3 years. I traveled down your way for a week and loved it. But I was up north in Kaiserslautern ( U.S Airforce). I absolutely LOVED Germany! It was a wonderful experience to live there for 3 years!

I finally found a fellow witch yesterday! Turned out one of the quiet girls in my class also loves metal music and witchcraft. She does things a little different than me but right now we are learning from each other and just enjoying that we finally found another witch.

I've learned that Community IS Witchcraft. Every time I gather with the women who are closest to me, magic happens. Especially if we're cooking or creating/crafting together. It doesn't matter if everyone there is a "witch" or not, what matters is the emotional bond. I love feasts, and enjoy cooking with and for other women. I carefully select random dishes from thrift stores to assemble beautiful feast sets-- favoring heavily sculpted serving vessels. For an autumnal feast I'd prepare spiced rack of lamb, roasted orange-cranberry brussel sprouts w/ goat cheese crumble, corn chowder, homemade gin infusions w/ mixers, and an elaborate pie.
Being a baby witch, I need to take baby steps. I would be up for a zoom type meeting (hosted by You). Where newbies can ask questions or talk to other beginners and share their current struggles or new life events.
After getting comfortable with other, then I might be up for diving deeper into your classes. I am too much of an introvert to just go for it. Also, Being a dude, I feel a bit out of place with all the women on the site. I dont want to give my wife the wrong impression. (Just my 2 cents)
She'll clue in faster if you include her in your practice as a "Friendly" if she's not into it, you will find your Path it's a lifelong journey.

This is SO exciting! I have never before called myself a witch. In fact, I've grown up a strong Christian believer but now I see how distorted that religion is and I have a lot of self growth to fulfill. I am awakening and with six young children to take care of each beautiful day here in rural North woods, its a struggle most days to not allow myself to fall back into the feeling of overwhelm and depression. For years now I've not realized that dwelling on these negative thoughts is like casting black magic on myself, and those around me whom I love, and creating a living hell. The kids see me going through pain and they don't understand.... so I guess that's a good thing, they're happy and everything is fine in life, as long as mom isn't losing her cool and freaking out over a mess or something childish. 🙄 But always, as I've felt my patience strained with my children, felt the patience of my Creator, no where near straining for me. Just full of forgiveness and waiting for me to open my eyes!
So now I'm starting to learn how to cast a good spell. And cleanse with smoke, and balance with crystals, etc.
Sometimes I feel like I have no clue what Im doing- like when I found out I have my own spirit guide.. !?!?!?!? What?!?!?! Awesome 😘
But mostly I am encouraged by you, and a few other good witches I've found on TH-cam, because it comes down to focus and intention- keep it positive and helpful!
So I hope I win that spot on your online retreat idea. I need a friend so badly. Everyone I know is Christian and still blind! And I've barely got two dollars to rub together with two days away from the baby and kids... I don't mind it like that but I'm so stressed out and I know I need more mommy alone time... 😢

For me, my introduction to the craft, was from a practicing witch. I was born into a Christian religion but I had a open mind to other things. Back in 2003, I was struggling with my faith and starting reading books from Cunningham and other authors. While working as a Security Officer for 30 years, I found that I was drawn to things of the night, animals, lunar, spirit guides. Even though I do not currently practice, I've considered myself a Nocturnal Solitary. Finding your channel helps, thank you!

I've always wanted to participate more in a group setting for mainly holidays, which seemed as scarce in my neck of the woods as a unicorn. In more recent years, I've seen more in my community, but I still haven't seen our heard of anything among my local grapevine.

I watched this and cried. I live a very isolated life as a healer. I help as many I can while protecting my own energy. I walk in gratitude for ALL of my gifts but at the same time live a lonely life not knowing many that walk this path. I still have a 56K dial-up modem in my closet "just in case" -- I also have literally a couple of thousand 3" diskettes that I need to figure out how to pull some files off of... SO SO SO glad to hear about your newest endeavor, right now I can't participate but it's definitely on my to do list!!!
I began in the mid 90's and being a bit older tend to shy away from tech. Plus I tend to be a bit of an individual and my mindset is, generally, not that of the younger witchy communities of today. I have found, I think, that the biggest obstacle to forming connections is myself and my ways, of which I am a bit stuck in, not that is a bad thing. I have found, from my point of view, I am more on the realistic, actual and factual side of a world that has gone a bit over board and mad. with their fantasy ideas and crackpot ways, all along calling it fact and actual when, if looked at from an observational perspective would see how crazy and not reality based it really was. People can not drink a potion to fly, we can not shapeshift our bodies and for the love of creation we can not alter our DNA. No matter what we want to believe or express to ourselves and others. I am Agnostic and do not seek affirmation or acceptance with a god that isn't there, or at least I don't have evidence or believe it is there. I do not make attempts to profess to myself or others, that I can magickally alter my DNA and switch genders. I also do not profess that we are all equal, because we are not. Some, due to birth, work, luck or what ever, seem to be more equal than others. It has always been and will always be. Those that express another point of view are either doing so to further the divide or are lying to either themselves, others or both. Society creates Right and Wrong/ Good and Evil and only if you accept society do you accept such controls. The strong and powerful rule and the weak and timid are sheep. Now if you have read all this and find me difficult and a bit "crazy" you now see why it is hard for me to find others. I also am very willing and happy to express myself openly and often. If you believe as I, it is unlikely you are a "modern" day pagan being I have found most to be on the extreme liberal side of the spectrum while I try to hover towards the middle, but always seem to take a few paces to the right.
So awesome! I wish I could join the workshop but I will be traveling in The Netherlands, Germany and Italy that month! Ack!! Hope to join another one soon!

I'm in the initial planning stages of hosting a retreat in a few years on my property. I'm not sure if I can get it off the ground, and it's going to be very limited due to accommodation space since this is my home. I'd like to try, though.

Oh dial up internet, I remember! I began at libraries because my parents controlled the family computer. Yes Wicca was definitely on the selves, but as was Voodoo, and witchcraft and spell books. But the librarians to check out the books... the cold stares... luckily my local library had a program to find those books at other libraries and could deliver, which was great! Then had to hide them from my Christian parents.
As someone in their late 30's who has come into witchcraft in the last few years this is something I've been very aware of as of late. I've sort of lost my way and inspiration to do any craft work, even though I read all the time and follow mostly esoteric social media. It's hard not to compare yourself and feel disheartened. Community and friendship can be so helpful for solitary workers.
I started practicing just before the internet (early 90's). it was so strict! i remember having a special robe, a specific altar, all the right candles, an athame, a wand - and it was all packed into a box hidden in my closet. Lol. While I enjoy the online groups of fellow witches/pagans - event that is starting to get exhausting (IMO). But I'm older, been practicing for over 2 decades and just want someone to sit down and talk with about the Path. I have found two groups in my area that do open Sabbat celebrations. I've gone to a few, but for me it's awkward. I've been solitary for so long, that I actually get uncomfortable celebrating with other people. Ironically, despite the social awkwardness of celebrating Sabbats with others...I still would like to experience a Pagan Retreat (in the united states).
i have always practiced alone & rarely share anything about it with anyone. One time i happened to talk to someon, who also practised and i remember it being such a breath of fresh air. i am really considering going to a retreat or getting in contact with fellow witches. i am just really curious to see how others practice and what ideas, remedies & spells they do. practicing alone all the time can sometimes get a little bit lonely. feeling support from a group of friends , or community would be so lovely.
I totally understand the gatekee and unfortunate cliqueishness. I end up being solitary and without structure I end up not doing much during the turning of the wheel.
I am on my journey now for 1 year now. I go to my two cousin for questions and for knowledge. They have been in practice for many years. I am still on the path of understanding.
It would be so much fun to go to Germany and meet cool like-minded people! Sadly, that would not be feasible for me, but it would be nice to have something similar for here in the US. Keep on cooking up witchy ideas girl!

online retreats and stuff like that are good for people who can travel. however, what of us who can't travel, but need a local coven? (keep in mind, i have mental issues pertaining to social dysfunction...) any ideas?
As a very introverted woman with social anxiety, i find Facebook groups to be very helpful. I can't really bring myself to attend any type of events for pagans

As a kitchen witch myself I cook ALL THE FOOD for every holiday 🤣 we just eat it till it's gone. Luckily I have a few kids so it doesn't last to many days.
Honestly I’d feel like an imposter as I’ve not been practicing for long so idk if I’d feel comfortable to join any big witchy gatherings… but I would LOVE to be able to 😭 I’m kinda conflicted over this topic- maybe I just try to dive more into my witchcraft and then try to join any workshops and gatherings 🥲

I still don't have instagram ( many have been trying. Took forever for me to get whattsapp! XD) but hopefully will make it to a retreat at some point. My calendar has suddenly become very busy around most of the sabbats as I have changed my direction slightly and am going back into education (the online one might be good as I am literally uprooting to a different part of the UK).
