Watching this again to relive the wonderful retreat. Thank you for what you're doing, Bex. Because of these, we can learn so much about ourselves and each other, and make wonderful friends before they leave us. Rest easy, Isa. (Terry Crews flex) 💪🏿❤️
Ohhh I just rewatched it too, to see Isa again 😫💔 I am sure she is now doing all her cool Terry dance moves up in Valhalla - or wherever else she chose to go. I am sending you so much love and I am sososo excited that I will be seeing you at two retreats next year!!!!
You are correct that in the US calling yourself a witch can be problematic, especially in areas where very conservative Christians dominate. I am not all the way out. I tend to tell anyone who asks (and believe me, in the South they ask all the time) that I practice an earth based spirituality. This puzzles them but will usually prevent further questions. I've been a solitary practitioner for a long time and an happily so, but I appreciate your channel very much.
I also live in the South of the US, and as a transgender woman I find myself hiding so many things about my life. I only came out as trans a couple of years ago and I find myself, as a beginner witch who was raised as a Christian, being afraid of doing basically anything remotely witchy. I have only told a couple of my closest friends that I am practicing. I want to find other witches but I do not know where to look. Does anybody have any advice?
@alstongaillard9749 where are you located? I'm in New Mexico, and I found a group on Facebook. I haven't interacted much, but they seem very open to all sorts and having meet ups. I'd look that way. I'm all the way in the broom closet. I dont think it woukd surprise even one person who knows me well to find I'm practicing. But ita still scary as I can only imagine it is even more for you considering your recent transition. Power to you, sister, and Blessed Be!
I'm a new witch. I live in Ohio, USA 🇺🇸. I've been practicing for 3 years now. I have no one to learn from, and it can be overwhelming. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you.
As a southern Alabama usa "Witch", in what is called the "Bible Belt" of the south. I have seen the prejudices of even being openly occult interested (watching charmed lol) let alone practicing, lol aggressive is the right word.. I struggled for years in biblical fear and guilt until really studying the bible and researching the magickal principals and traditions found and hidden or removed scripturally (from my Biblical raising) and my own found beliefs (at first wiccan then my own eclectic paganism) and while It can be very difficult to find others who share in even acceptance of my beliefs now. I stopped living for others and started finding my peace. today I find more loving and supportive witches online than ever before, in the future I hope to come out of the broom closet. I just don't care to hide anymore. I too would enjoy a witchy missionary, I picture a Molly Weasley.
I live in a small Christian college town in west TN. You can imagine how well being openly a witch would go here. I know there are witches on the other side of Tennessee in Appalachia. I do in a way envy witches in the UK and the rest of Europe because many folkloric and pagan traditions never truly died out and big celebrations still happen. Lucky I'm so accustomed to being solitary anyway.
Same!! Merry meet! I too, live in TN and it is sooo difficult to outwardly share here. I balance my mind out with Bealtaine Cottage, in the West of Ireland, on TH-cam. Colette is a very deeply rooted Celtic Pagan woman, sharing her journey. I am so over the moon that I found Bex and her channel too!! Learning a lot and finding lots of like-minded witches. Blessed be! You are not alone🖤💜🖤 xx
@@jennifersmith3709 Oh hello. That's a lovely comment thank you. I always wanna say don't get me wrong I do love a lot of things about Tennessee. Our forests waterfalls, clear streams and mountains are so nice for nature loving people. I'll have to check out those channels. A recommendation I'll drop but you probably already know her is Alwynn Oak. She's enchanting. 🧚♂️
As someone who lives in the U.S., I'm in a place where I'm halfway out of the broom closet (like I don't try and hide it, but I don't flat out tell people I'm a witch). Some people know, a few I think kinda know (like they know I'm spiritual, but don't know the full extent), and the rest still think I'm Christian and wondering when I'm coming back to church. I'm hoping to be fully out and able to show my true self soon (especially when I get my dream job, and maybe start my own business). But for now there's still a lot I need to learn and practice, both in my craft and in myself.
I started crying while watching this video. I’m still delving into why, but I can guess that it has something to do with seeing all these proud witches gathering together and enhancing their spirituality together. I can’t afford to do the retreat right now, but even this online community is very important to me. Thank you so much for being here ❤
I'm a 3rd generation witch in my family. I use to hide it when I was younger because I was afraid how my Catholic mother and friends would think of me. Now that I'm grown and 51 I'm very proud of a being a witch and don't care what others think of me. My daughter is proud of me and is possibly following in my foot steps. 💜💜💜
"Witch" is a good word in my circle❤️ Whenever I go to the local grocery store I often here from another aisle..."Hi witch Jen" ....be your authentic self with or without titles my friends✨🇨🇦
Brazil here! 🙋 I'm one that doesn't have a religion. I tried a few religions when I was younger, but found out that I don't really fit in a specific one, in fact, I don't wanna fit. I believe that there are some amazing beliefs, gods, rituals and knowledge around the world that I want to be open to everything that makes me feel good and happy. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and your retreats, I really appreciate it. I've been following you and watching your videos for a long time and love every one. Magic is everywhere and you are truly magical ❤
Thanks for sharing as always. I'm not a witch but am a "muggle". I always enjoy learning about others beliefs. I know it can help foster understanding and acceptance of those who have different beliefs than I have. I know a number of people who have different beliefs and I'm always seeking to understand. You are amazing for all the wonderful work you do to bring people together to heal. Plus all the food keeps me coming back. You are truly magical!😍🥰
And I want to say a big thank you for following along (even as a muggle) since years by now! I love people who love to learn and have it in their heart and minds to be understanding, discover more and let others be themselves ❤
ah, I watch your videos from Belarus with an automatic translator because I can’t really understand the language, but everything I watch is amazing! I dream that I could be with you in this wonderful place, I probably would not understand much, but I am sure that I would feel everything with my soul. Love you
I love seeing the updates of the retreats. I long to attend one. I’ve had a pull to witch craft since I was young but it’s taken me decades to deconstruct the teachings of my youth to open me to accepting and receiving my power
Your retreat videos are always very uplifting and heartwarming. It is incredible that you manage to be such a positive influence on the life of others (including me). Around where I life (somewhere in northern Germany), there is no official witches community (at least I could not find any). I am rooting for the next city :D I am semi open with me being a witch. Means I do not talk about it when I am not specifically asked. One reason is, that I am studying biology and philosophy so I am surrounded by scientists and they tend to be very biased even if I am a witch that - like you - likes a scientific basis for her craft. However, you have convinced me, that I should be more open about it. Have a wonderful witchy summer 🌹🌿🍓
I love this! I think it's important to be true to yourself and let people see you as yourself. I don't really advertise myself as a witch but if you come into my home, there's definitely signs. I was kind of nervous about my fiance's family because they're all Catholic (to the point he went to a private Catholic school), but not only are they accepting, I learnt his mom dabbled in it and she gave me all her old books, and his grandmother spent mother's day dinner telling me about her fortune teller friend and their dumpster diving adventures - all of which I wouldn't have expected or learnt if I wasn't open with them. Not everyone will be accepting but there will always be people who surprise you in the best ways ❤
If being a TH-cam witch wasn't literally my job, it would probably be the same for me 😄 and yes - people more often than not will suprirse you positively if you let them. Oh, and I have also been to private Catholic school (and my dad is a deacon) 🤣✨️
Love this!! I met all of my husband's colleagues at Christmas. I handmade gifts for all the wives. They all loved them... except for one or two. When my husband was asked if I was a florist, he said, "No, she's a witch." I thought I was going to die. Nevertheless, I did make two very nice friends who have welcomed me. And one of them loves tarot readings! Blessed be!! 🖤💜🖤
I've thought more about coming out of the Broom closet to more people. Most of my inner circle knows and are very respectful. My immediate work supervisor knows and is very protective of me. Of course, my Husband is respectful, curious, and just got a tarot deck!
Hi closet baby witch 🧙 in Texas… my husband wouldn’t understand or accept this path for me. I consider myself folk Catholic witch. I am drawn to Catholic Saints. Funny enough witchcraft drew me closer to the Catholic faith. It is very lonely at times. My daughter is definitely gifted but we don’t always get to bond together. Thank you for all your videos ❤
Thanks for the video. I wouldn't say I'm stuck in the broom closet, I'm actively trying to pursue my pagan lifestyle but it's pretty hard. I live in the industrial area of the Netherlands (Rotterdam), and it's a way off to arrive into nature, or to find ingredients or objects that could help me with some crafts. Space is an issue and the Dutch laws to not be able to make bonfires or be able to harvest from nature as an individual, not to mention the expenses. Moving out is the main priority but it's not the time yet to move. Applying little traditions, adding knowledge and finding bits to help thus far is the beginning of the journey.
Luckily the Netherlands are very witch friendly 😄🧹✨️🌙 but yes - space is definitely hard to come by there 😅 didn't know about those foraging laws - I always just gathered whatever I needed during my years there 😅 oopsie
@@Thewitchescookery Close to where I work, there's a park with some brambles. During late summer going for break walks, sneaking a few picks won't be noticed ;) Your experience and knowledge is great to have, my partner loves cooking and some of your recipies are saved :)
Hello from The Hague! Yeah, being a witch here is weird. I'm less nervous about safety than I was in the middle US, but folks here are very practical, and I live in a "traditional" neighborhood, so I feel like I have to keep a lid on it so folks don't dislike us.
Warm greetings from Western Siberia! I've been watching your videos for a long time. We have a lot of witches in Russia. Lots of real witches. My city is Omsk.
Hey lovelies, last week I was at a LARP convention and played the role of a healer that works with herbs. And there I got to know another herbal healer. And she told me that she is on the Spiritual path. It was like omg!!! My first real life witch!!! I had to change numbers and now we call often and share our experiences with our practise. I am so glad she was so openminded to share who she is. It enriched my life so much in just one week.
Greetings from Southern California! I currently live with my very Christian mother who has made me feel unsafe when I show even a brief interest in anything she deems occult, so the broom closet is the only place I can be at the moment. Your videos are like a lifeline for me, thank you so much.
Italian folk witch here and I am out! Was too tired to be in the closet-this is me this is who I am those that are accepting and have questions, I am always happy-those who are not accepting don’t pay my bills or walk in my shoes and I let them go….Great video Bex! 💜💜💜💜💜
I'm in california new to this journey out in the open as of recently, I did experience a lot people silently disappear, witch turned out to be most beneficial as it gave more time to study 🤍 thank you for a most comforting words & videos.
I was a participant and this was absolutely one of the most beautiful and special experiences of my life! Thank you Bex for making such meaningful connections possible, and for all the hard work you have put in ❤️❤️ 100% recommended to anyone in search of a supportive witchcraft community or practice
Bex, wow, this was so therapeutic to hear this! I definitely am needing this in my life currently. Synchronicity is at work here! Thank you for making this video and sharing how to be your most authentic self! ❤❤❤ The retreats sound healing, magikal, and down right lovely! ☺️ I am glad to see these kinds of retreats happening! As more step out of the broom closet, I hope the stigma will lessen on witches and witchcraft. I’ve come to see this as a beautiful practice in my short time of studying. ❤ (More retreats from more witches is needed! 😅) Maybe one day there will be a collaboration for retreats with @miamagik?? 😮 She has some very healing sounding ones too. If not, not to worry! 😊 Thanks for all you do and share!! ❤
Hello Bex🌼 I am so glad i found your TH-cam channel~ It is very hard to express my beliefs and lifestyle here, in Tennessee USA...I am finding such a beautiful refuge here with all you do. Practicing solitary hearthwitch here and offering an abundance of blessings to you and all you offer here to everyone, so mote it be!🌼🧙🏻♀️ 🌛💜🌜
I'm so greatful I came across you. My life revolves around the feelings and beliefs of very repressive Christians and pandering to how they feel that's what's kept me in the broom closet. Now I do it and I do things in front of them and they don't even notice it's witchcraft thanks to watching you.
I'm a new witch, I started learning and practicing in January of this year. A US citizen currently living overseas. Always had a bit of an interest in it though. There is so much to learn but it is so awesome. Hopefully, one day I will be able to go to one of your retreats, it would be so wonderful to learn from other individuals in person
I have to stay in the broom closet until my parents and in-laws pass away. It's just too controversial. Also, I don't trust people to understand the atheistic aspect of what I do, and to some people, that part would be the worst part. My husband knows, and my kids would be fine with it, and I do have a good friend that knows. America is really screwy with religion, especially lately, and it's just not safe or prudent.
I’m sorry that you are in that position. There are some people I don’t talk to about my practice but I’ve totally come out of the closet now, as I started a side gig selling witchy items. So far, I haven’t had any negative feedback. I lost my religion about twenty years ago and have had a lot of issues about it even before fully devoting myself to this practice. I don’t know what you would face if you opened up, but I do hope you can find people to connect with.
It was a real eye-opener when you mentioned the statistics on pagan populations. Sometimes it's hard to remember that we're not the extreme minority vs the Judeo-Christian overwhelming majority everywhere like it is in the U.S. I had to struggle with a minute of envy at the thought of a 60% pagan population base......just wow. That would be amazing!
I so wish one day I could join you all.. I use to have quite a group but the last few years it has dwindled due to life an now I have one or two people who I connect with. Miss it for sure ❤ sending blessings
Oh that is sad! Maybe one day you can make it to Germany and join the fun ♥️ (or one of the online group workshops are also nice, if you want a month of magic and community)
Well this video helped me a lot , though most people in my neighborhood know that I practice the craft. Nowadays I struggle to reconnect with my craft, I’ve been taking a break from the craft for a year now, because of mental health, I am getting better and I’ll still take some breaks until I’m ready. This video has found me and really just helped me , it inspired me to “reconnect” with my craft. Really amazing video❤
Apparently I have never been in the closet I had a child look at me and say(mommy she's so old and I'm not ) blessed are the children for they can see!!!
I've been watching you for a little over a year now, and I am so fascinated. I am definitely a baby witch, I know VERY little and lack community and direction. I'm just not sure where to start. ❤
Start with what interests you most and do the simple stuff that you feel has an impact 😊 and if you every feel lonely, come and join a retreat for so much extra knowledge from lovely people and an awesome community ❤
Recently me and my best friend of more than 30 years discovered that we are both witches! 😱😅 I have been practicing much longer than she has but it is cool to have someone to share those little things with, that only another witch can understand. Hopefully I will be bale to make it to one of your retreats next year. 💖
I have always been drawn to Germany and want to visit do me day. I have lots of Germany ancestors from the Alsace region. I am heavily Scottish & English too, so very American :) I like to call myself a witch, but really, I just cook with lots of herbs, garden, read tarot and don't really make a ritual out of it anymore. I'm looking forward to bringing sacred ritual back into my life. I like to do everything with love, gratitude and mindfulness.
I'm watching your videos now for 2 years. It gives me so much joy and I want to start my own witch journey. But I feel very overwhelmed with all the things you can learn and I often feel like there are many sketchy websites on the Internet. Do you or other witches in this comment section have book- or other recommendations where you got your knowledge from?
I would start with the Internet Book of Shadows, it's a completely free resource from all sorts of practitioners. It's formatted in that janky geo sites way from the late 2000s, but it's got a lot of old foundational reads for the public to peruse! Good luck!
Oh how I wish I could come to a retreat but I'm in Australia and I am broke. Give me a couple years maybe hahah Such an informative video, thank you :)
Me belly laughing because im dealing with Jehovah witnesses knocking at my door alot lately though ive explained politely my beliefs ...this lasttime they woke my special needs daughter and i may have yelled "sir im a Witch" 😂🤣😅❤
ugh I despise anyone that rings the bell unannounced hahah especially when they wake you (or your kiddos) up. Love your outburst - at least you said sir
@@francineh.7825 lol quickly turned around and walked away.. And I was tempted to break out into Justin Timberlakes song "dont be so auick to walk away "🤣🤣 but i left well enough alone.
I always been intrigued and I feel like a have been a witch all my life but now I been more interested in the craft. I been reading books and gathering ingredients; candles, crystals, herbs etc. but I feel like I need guidance. And I thank you for sharing your wisdom, knowledge and understanding
I worked for a local hospital in my town and was fired when it came out that I practice witchcraft. When the EEOC investigated, my coworkers concocted a story that I was chasing men around the hospital and that I threatened them with an axe handle. It was preposterous and my job was gone. All of this because my supervisor was Christian.
I think we practice woodcraft everyday we use words sometimes and words are magic sometimes and I believe that and I'm not religious at all I am mostly spiritual I'm a pioneer and I love animals I love to be out in nature I appreciate your channel I find it very uplifting❤❤❤
Oh, this is so spectacular. I appreciate all the work that you put into your channel and it’s so special to hear how your mission is including people in a diversity of ways. This is deeply invaluable magic you are creating by connecting people locally, online, and across the world. So powerful and beautiful, you have a lot to be proud of! This footage is so lovely, and thank you to the participants for courageously consenting to sharing their vulnerable experiences with your audience. The couple and the "muggle" mama especially brought me to tears. I’m also someone who, despite being hella introverted/unapologetically autistic, is passionate about connecting other marginalized people like me at the intersections of Blackness and Queerness to make sure we are seen, expressing ourselves authentically, and relentlessly supporting each other! I definitely can't hop on a plane to Germany any time soon, nor come fully out of the broom closet where I live where it might risk my career and even my safety. It is kinda funny tho, I'm obviously terrible at concealing my practice within my family because the other day I was watching a basketball game with my mother, and I lit a candle-literally just for ambiance and nice scent-and happened to set it on the mantle above the TV, and she was like “oh, is that for good luck for the team?” I was like *who taught you about candle magic?!!* I’ve been clocked! Anyhow, I've been trying to reach out to others of the witchy realm by attending classes and community gatherings centered around herbalism and Indigenous knowledge and culture, as well as supporting small businesses that sell the magical tools and trinkets that we all love. This type of community is truly blooming as people reconnect with spirit, and especially in the African American community our return to ancestor veneration and magical survival systems is absolutely spreading like wildfire. As someone who grew up in Christianity but never had any relationship with the divine or true conscious connection to spirit, it is kind of crazy to witness a whole spiritual revolution happening around me, but I am very so delighted and grateful. Together around the world I too believe witches can abolish the broom closet 😆
Hello from Southern Florida, USA! I love your videos. Thanks for sharing a video of your retreat, it makes me wish I could do the same without the massive travel expenses though, I'm a broke witch! lol Looks like an amazing time was had by all!!

Hi I am a 70 year old male living in Scotland and wishing to find out more about witchcraft. I have no real interest in perusing a "religion" like Wicca. Could you give me some suggestions please?
I would suggest reading up on it and of course using social media - like TH-cam- for more info. And I believe in the UK there are quite a few non-religious practitioners. So maybe you can find witch meetups near you 😊✨️
Hallo!
I live rurally in the U.S., just outside a town of 3,000 people, very Christian and Republican. All my rural neighbors are 70-80 years old and spread out. If I were to be my witchy self here, loud and proud, I would be vilified and cut off from the town's social networks. I don't want to be that person who is whispered about. But I was loud and proud when I lived In Portland. It's just different in these small, Republican towns.
I don't think I can come out at work. My co-workers are very nice and supportive people, but I think witch is a step too far for them. I wouldn't lose my job but I think I'd lose all credibility. And if I fully presented at work, I know some would laugh at me. And I'm not going to open myself to that. But I will starting using my Witch Gone Shopping tote to bring in my lunch. Small steps I guess.
Two things:1) Oh yeah in the American South you can't even dance the Maypole. It's "the devil's" work.🙄 2) I am curious if you find most people drawn to witchcraft are simply outcasts from mainstream? I mean, those ostracized by society before they gravitate to witchcraft. It's all very interesting. I do my own thing. I was always ostracized though. I'm actually used to it now. Thank you for your great channel.
I heard that the South is tough 🫠 as for people into witchcraft - no, I would say it is a pretty good crosssection of people throughout society - but of course only those with an open mind
I was out as a witch and I kept getting mocked by others and told to be silent by a toxic so-called witch friend as to where she got to be out of the broom closet and I didn't. My ex mocked me, I got called psychic by some ignorant guy and he thought I was wearing a "devil symbol" when I told him I don't worship Satan or believe in God or a Devil. Another woman called me a devil worshiper without me even telling her what I was which is why I became a beginner witch all over again and haven't told another soul that I was a witch because I'm afraid of getting mocked and put down and judged. So why be out of the broom closet proud of something you get mocked for. Even my Mom says she loves me but isn't supportive of me at all. I'm keeping it a secret from her and her christian husband too. I just tell them I'm agnostic. It is what it is I guess. My opinion is if someone really loves you they should support you no matter what they don't agree with. I am close to cutting off my Mom and my Stepfather due to not feeling accepted and feeling like I belong. Why I am starting over as an agnostic witch.😔
Pleeeeease I live with pet pigeons and they are strict granivores. City pigeons with eat bread and meat because they're starved but it's not good for them. If you want to feed your local city pigeons, please bring a bag of birdseed and feed them that 😅
That is super fascinating (and sad!) to learn. I thought they were, just like chickens - omnivors. Nowadays I don't get to go to a city a whole lot but I will remember this piece of knowledge the next time I see a pidgeon

Yaih! So happy you found the courage to just be you. This is what I wish for everyone else too ❤
"Witch" is a good word in my circle❤️ Whenever I go to the local grocery store I often here from another aisle..."Hi witch Jen" ....be your authentic self with or without titles my friends✨🇨🇦

I'm one that doesn't have a religion.
How wonderful of you to provide a safe space for witches to grow.
I love to to do so 🙃🧹
ah, I watch your videos from Belarus with an automatic translator because I can’t really understand the language, but everything I watch is amazing!
@@Thewitchescookery my fiance and I talk a lot about how lowkey witchy Catholicism is! There's so much symbolism and ritual in both.

@@jennifersmith3709 that's so sweet! It's funny the range of skills you develop as a witch!
He's a shitty husband if he can't accept you for who you are
Thanks for the video.
During late summer going for break walks, sneaking a few picks won't be noticed ;)

Hello to Russia!! I would love to travel to Siberia one day - aside current politics Russia has a part of my heart ❤️

Awwwwww how super cool!!! And yes - that is the magic that will happen if you are openly and unapologetically being yourself ❤

Greetings from Southern California! I currently live with my very Christian mother who has made me feel unsafe when I show even a brief interest in anything she deems occult, so the broom closet is the only place I can be at the moment. Your videos are like a lifeline for me, thank you so much.

The retreats sound healing, magikal, and down right lovely! ☺️ I am glad to see these kinds of retreats happening! As more step out of the broom closet, I hope the stigma will lessen on witches and witchcraft. I’ve come to see this as a beautiful practice in my short time of studying. ❤

I'm so greatful I came across you. My life revolves around the feelings and beliefs of very repressive Christians and pandering to how they feel that's what's kept me in the broom closet. Now I do it and I do things in front of them and they don't even notice it's witchcraft thanks to watching you.
I was there ❤and the love and supportive energy was palpable. Wishing you all magical blessings and a huge thank you to Bex for everything ❤

The fact one of our laws is freedom of religion and its something that was so pressed during the fiundations is so incredibly ironic.
You were so chaotic in this video 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣I love it. These retreat videos are some of my favorite videos of yours.

Bex, keep sending the invites. I will attend soon. Best.

Good luck!

😱😱😱 oh wow! That is horrible- I am so, so sorry
@lucypumpkinjack I hope you have been able to find a job where you are accepted 🤎
I think we practice woodcraft everyday we use words sometimes and words are magic sometimes and I believe that and I'm not religious at all I am mostly spiritual I'm a pioneer and I love animals I love to be out in nature I appreciate your channel I find it very uplifting❤❤❤
From australia we love your channel im a solitary water/sea and nature worshipper
Together around the world I too believe witches can abolish the broom closet 😆
oh that looked so magical im a disabled wheelchair user witch i dont know anyone thats close by where i live.love your videoz

Question: What powder is in that bowl that you cast into the fire? What does the ritual symbolize/ward off?
It's "the devil's" work.🙄
2) I am curious if you find most people drawn to witchcraft are simply outcasts from mainstream? I mean, those ostracized by society before they gravitate to witchcraft. It's all very interesting. I do my own thing. I was always ostracized though. I'm actually used to it now. Thank you for your great channel.
I heard that the South is tough 🫠 as for people into witchcraft - no, I would say it is a pretty good crosssection of people throughout society - but of course only those with an open mind
Thank you. That's very interesting. Many blessings to all!@@Thewitchescookery

👋 hello to your corner of the world 😊
Hi from Australia ❤
Hello there!🦘
I was out as a witch and I kept getting mocked by others and told to be silent by a toxic so-called witch friend as to where she got to be out of the broom closet and I didn't.
