I just put mt200’s on an OTR for my son. I ditched the routing kit and fed new cables from the front to back instead of starting through the chain stay and working forward. It took 5minutes. Super easy. The bike is a great ride and even better with the upgrades. Thanks for the vids.
7:10 another thing, swapping from metallic and resin pads, people say to clean the rotors and then bed them in, but I've gone from resin to metallic without cleaning the rotor and it was fine, maybe it works differently spending on the pads. But you definitely need to bed in the brakes.
Great video, nice install. I have to say, that yes rotors do matter, take it from me, if you put non-resin brake pads on a rotor that says resin only, then your braking power, and efficiency go out the window, brakes will feel very spongy, and no amount of bleeding will fix it. Some rotors say resin only for a very good reason.
Nope, the main diffrence between organic, resin, sinter or metallic are: durabilty, noise and the feellings at braking. The Power is always the same! So sinter will last longer than organic, but organic are quiet but not so durable. But most organic you've got a better feel for the brake. Like he said it's not a big deal and he's right with that.🤷♂️
My 2022 giant trance x has internal routing and I just pull my old brake hose out or derailleur cable out and push a new one in, no special tool’s needed, must have guided routing inside my frame?
Broooo i love this bike! My setup atm is tektro m285's on the front (no rear brake idk how to internally route lol-) Got continental 2.4 front tire.( Need to replace the maxxis hookworm in the back) I got a shimano with the ixf crankset. Found a shimano hollow bottom bracket. With a 38t chainring. Its so fast!!! I cant wait to see what upgrades yall do. Its always a blast watching yall upgrade the bikes. Now it feels like im upgrading it alongside yall
8:53 Yet Paul Components that markets a brake like that, Paul Clamper, they claim it's actually that's better, but they say their brake is so much stiffer it out performs dual piston brakes. But it would be interesting to see what you think of them.
These seem to have bite point adjust as well - its the grub screw on the front side of the lever, also reach adjust has nothing to do with air or the fluid in the brakes... its an external change that adjusts the lever position in relation to the master cylinder plunger.
Just an fyi, the ridge I just bought already has an aculite derailer, advent shifter, 180/160mm rotor & jak super brakes on a small frame. Idk if that’s standard but owners manual says it’s supposed to have different parts.
Its good to have a caliper that's in one piece. It has less chance of flexing. Magura manufactures theirs also in one piece. If the caliper have more meat, you'll get more stable braking power. I think that brake is made and aliexpress have them on different brand names like, iii pro, ankor, titans.
Tape a string on cable ..pull cable all the way out with string attached leaving some string not pulled through , tape new cable on string ...pull through...only need kit for new frames that don't have cables...but even then they have strings in them to tape n pull.
10:32 It would not surprise me, I've seen some budget bikes come with chain routed wrong. And seen even big brands mess up their bikes. Like Trek missing spacers, overtightened bolts. Canyon with badly assembled bike.
Was going to take my Ozark Trail Ridge 29 for it's first trail ride today, so put it in the stand to get it tuned and adjusted. I messed with that thing for 2 hours, watched bookoos of videos, pulled out repair manuals, invented new swear words, and determined that im either stupid (still undetermined 😂) or that the rear derailleur is faulty. Took it to a trusted shop this morning, and the derailleur is actually failty out of the box (not damaged, just doesn't work) 🤦 Do you guys have contact info for LTWOO? I went ahead and had them install a Microshift Advent X drivetrain that I had new on hand (that I was going to put on my Trouvaille), but I'd like to get a functioning replacement to keep as a backup drivetrain (I mean, I paid for a functioning derailleur when I bought tge bike anyway, lol). Thanks in advance, and happy Friday guys!! 😁🙏
@woltickvideos have you seen the new ztto team 4 piston brakes on a certain chinese express website? The calipers look a bit like knockoff sram code calipers. I'd love to see a review of them
Yes I whish that I give up trying 29ers I have a agressor pro 27.5 medium frame and still little to big for me so I give up and whent to a 26 fuji nevada I put 2.6 tires and it just perfect maibe Im to short
🤣love the episode fellas, this one was full of hidden gems starting with the opener. Looking forward to the real time review on the Titans. Wolfman's suggestion of taping the brake line to the existing cable before pulling out was a big foreshadowing of things to come. Very scientific as always. You get some funnel cake or elephant ears at the fair? 🦥
I put mt200’s on my son’s Ridge a couple days ago. After bedding them in, I was thoroughly impressed with how well these affordable brakes worked. Take the time to bed them in, get the levers mounted properly and adjust the reach for your hand and you will be happy. I wouldn’t hesitate to put mt200’s on again.
I see one huge issue in terms of long-term usage/service - good luck on finding a socket wrench for these bore caps or figuring out what to use to undo them without stripping or damaging the grooves. I struggled to find a cheap socket key for iiipro e4 bore caps. They are 13.5 mm in diameter so you can't use a standard shimano crankset preload cap key Which is 15 mm. You need to buy a magura mt4 specific key which like 10$ on ali and it's a rough casted little piece of metal.
Why are people so concerned about brakes being pre bled? Bleeding brakes is not hard. On this set i would bleed them again as some air would always be introduced.
7:10 If they meant the Resin only rotors then yes, those rotors are absurd, they use soft steel, they are impossible to use with metallic pads and not wear out the rotor, it keeps getting glazed. But their resin pads last about a month if you ride a lot. But as their metallic pads crack, I am not a fan of those, but they do bite well, the resin pads don't, even on a good rotor. I am not sure which rotors you used. but if metallic pads did not glaze them i na month rotors are not at fault.
The brake rotor does actually matter some rotors are o Ku made to be used with organic pads and other rotors are made to be use with metallic pads or organic, I run Hayes dominion and I used to have tektro rotors made for organic pads and the Hayes brakes did not get along with the rotors it pretty much burned them as in heat discolored then and started to warp them , so it’s a fact different rotors for different style pads , but you can use Whatever rotor and pad combo you want , but it won’t always work great
What’s up fellas. Is that the same Ozark Trail that was making coolers and other camping equipment being sold at Walmart? 😂 A cheap Schwinn is understandable, but I don’t know about an Ozark trail bike lol. Maybe they have an actual bicycle company making their frames. I’m curious.
I cringed when you decided not to tape and pull the new cable back thru using the old cable😮..i just knew that that cable routing little magnet was not going to work the way u hoped
Should've seen if they would've sent you their entry level and mid level hydraulic brakes, not just their high end model, this way there's still something for the average person getting into mountain biking. Not sure about you but my wallet has been taking a big hit with all the inflation.
Y’all and Kev need to make a collab one of these days, you guys are the pioneers of budget mtb content 🙏
I’m the emperor of budget bike.
I just put mt200’s on an OTR for my son. I ditched the routing kit and fed new cables from the front to back instead of starting through the chain stay and working forward. It took 5minutes. Super easy. The bike is a great ride and even better with the upgrades.
Thanks for the vids.
What was the length of the rear? Thanks in advance
I put a 3x10 slx group set on mine an love it
Dad- "my eyesight is better than your hearing"
Son- "Huh?"
😂😂😂
🤣
I agree with wolfman on the cable routings
You Would Charlee! 😂

I run a 203mm rotor front and rear, and it’s amazing, I can literally stop on steep rock rolls and slowly roll down
Another good lunch break! I am looking forward to seeing the small come out in 2024.
😊😊😊
Love u old school still out there. Encouraging
Iv you guys. Just bought ozridge lg and love it
That is some nice packaging! I adjust my reach adjustment
Thanks! Lol, I always want to as well, but you know how most people are ha ha.
What is the length of the rear hose? Thanks in advance

We belive ya! 👍 Thanks for the comment brother, we try to pay attention to the small print 😉

Coming out VERY SOON!!!
Great video fellas !
Thanks brother, they feel pretty good so far lol. Hope they slow me down!
You ever use pads for a Shimano Saint / Vee??? I'm looking for recommendations for replacement
Mine got them as well with a surly Ridgid fork
I’d like to see that fork.
My 2022 giant trance x has internal routing and I just pull my old brake hose out or derailleur cable out and push a new one in, no special tool’s needed, must have guided routing inside my frame?
Nice looking budget brake. The pads are Shimano 4 piston pad clones so getting replacements will be a cinch.
Hell Yeah!! Thanks for that, I edited out a whole segment on talking about what would fit, appreciate the input man.
Thats a good observation about no seam, one piece caliper! Those gold caps must unscrew to allow piston install
Thanks Chris, I know it probably does not seem like a big deal to most, so happy you caught that.
Broooo i love this bike! My setup atm is tektro m285's on the front (no rear brake idk how to internally route lol-)

Good lookin brakes. RTR will tell the tale for sure.
They look pretty solid though. Party at the fair! 😂
I have an "older" externally routed 29er.
Just an fyi, the ridge I just bought already has an aculite derailer, advent shifter, 180/160mm rotor & jak super brakes on a small frame. Idk if that’s standard but owners manual says it’s supposed to have different parts.
Mine is the same, bought a month ago

I feel you I need small size frame
Man, of only every company offered them! Ha ha
I wish 29ers came in small. I have a Axum in med & just tad to big for me 5'6. So ordering a Nukeproof 27.5 small tomorrow. I want a playful mtb.
Yes I whish that I give up trying 29ers I have a agressor pro 27.5 medium frame and still little to big for me so I give up and whent to a 26 fuji nevada I put 2.6 tires and it just perfect maibe Im to short
You must check out the Huffy Torreya down to $168 and Dakari down to $348. 1x and discs.

I picked up a Ridge and I am looking to upgrade the brakes, should I wait for the Titans to be released or just go with MT200s?
Thanks for the video!

Can this upgrade be done on the Vibe?
Yes I did 2024 The smell will be released. Kc Central
👍👍👍🤤
And ozart will have a Tech Support Phone Number available next year.
With parts
Nice!
"Organic with some metallic " isn't that also semi-metallic?
😂😂 If you wanna get scientific!! 😆😆🤦
The cable holes are so tight i ended up having to use the floss method to run my hoses. It was a giant pain in the rear.
I just upgraded my GT aggressor pro to hydrolic brakes, would you guys like my stock brake setup it has less than three weeks of riding
How was the Fair, do you have a good time?
Super good, as a matter of fact the Patrons are watching it now lol. Thanks for asking Willard, we even played bingo
Why are people so concerned about brakes being pre bled? Bleeding brakes is not hard. On this set i would bleed them again as some air would always be introduced.

Anyone else think the Tick's haircut is starting to look like a tupee?🤣
(Those pads look like the Shimano Saint / Vee pads)
I'm actually buying a himalo frame to replace my Axum frame.
Nice!
Everything shimano about the pads and the rotors. Shimano RT56 style rotors.
I just heard a certain company makes hydrolic/cable brakes. So not sure how that works 🤷
Wow...I'm not late for once...
Welcome on time!! Appreciate the comment brother.
Install an air fork on this one! Show us how!
Ive the same bike gimme a cheaper hydraulic brake brand I can upgrade mine with .Watching from Kenya🎉
What’s up fellas.
Is that the same Ozark Trail that was making coolers and other camping equipment being sold at Walmart? 😂
A cheap Schwinn is understandable, but I don’t know about an Ozark trail bike lol.
Maybe they have an actual bicycle company making their frames. I’m curious.
If you feel is too large for you, overfork it to 140mm, slam foward the chair, and run a 35mm stem with a bar with foward sweep…
AVENGE MITCHELLS FRUIT TREE!!!!
Review brake ztto core
The Kent Trouvaille also came with “wrong” cable routing, so it’s not just the Mongoose Ledge.
Even though the shifter cable is routed wrong, it still shifts well.
Cry freaking baby 😂
I cringed when you decided not to tape and pull the new cable back thru using the old cable😮..i just knew that that cable routing little magnet was not going to work the way u hoped
Bud still buy Large frame and medium frame 😂
I'm small man lol
Should have pulled the cable the other way
Cat meow❤
Maybe!
Never understood upgrading a department store bike, sorry!
Should've seen if they would've sent you their entry level and mid level hydraulic brakes, not just their high end model, this way there's still something for the average person getting into mountain biking. Not sure about you but my wallet has been taking a big hit with all the inflation.

😉😉😉🐔
❤❤like ❤❤
Id like you guys to buy the new carbon Walmart bike. I sent a message about it i patreon
You are tickboi
This is why I can't see the benefits of internal routing. Whst a fricking drama. What is wrong with making life easy?
I know it would look bad but I wonder if you run it externally with zip ties or something? I don’t really care what it looks like.
Too much time talking about nonsense while doing things and not talking about that
Welcome to Wolftick Videos! 😜
