I would also recommend Dosh's video on La Mulana

Some comments adding to that great Game (I play it since 1998 or so and it still giving me new experiences) :
    - the way the classes get their tier verdict in the video is a little bit unfair (my first win was an elementalist) - also the farmer makes sense (but yes, difficult to play for a newbie) as You need a lot of healing methods (potions, spells, praying, mushrooms, Crystals of health, ... ) and some plants do deliver them.
    - I would actually recommend playing the game in ASCII Mode - at least for some months as the whole terrifyingly big command set makes sense then: for example: the commands > and < will immediately hop into Your finger memory seeing these symbols as stairs between the levels of the Dungeons.
    - Dying is the method You learn in ADoM - after a while You simply accept it as a learning opportunity as the Game is mostly quite transparent in why You died in the last messages. You can have a look into after Your death!
    - there is a lot of explore and despite me having won with more than 100 characters (even with Farmers, thieves and mindcrafters... ) I never managed an ultimate win or a win with a chaotic character, so I will play on and on and on
    - a great part of the fun of the game is managing between very short aims (like how to win that fight or make the decision to run away) short aims (like reaching the next stairs in the dungeon) medium aims (like reaching the bottom of a Dungeon) or longer aims (like doing all Thrundarr quests for a certain powerful mid-term weapon or getting a crowning) or very long aims like winning the Game. The decisions You make are often in conflicts with each other and You must have all these strategic aims constantly in Your mind and sometimes You are forced to exchange them bc something very disruptive happened to You (a bad corruption sets in, You lose a good weapon, You lose important Tools, You intentionally switch Your religion between chaotic - neutral - lawful, ... and many more)
Even Levelling Up can be bad for You as some Dungeons/quests will permanently be closed after You having reached Level 6 or Level 17 or Level 30. This is where the different Levelling speeds of different races come into play 😉
But don't worry: all these things (or 80 percent) You will get while playing the game and playing it is fun! And you will learn to get along with loss: You found a nice sword of Mayhem? Use it as long as You can before it does rust or gets destroyed or Stolen.
    - the Bridge Building skill gets rarely used (I only did use it once) but You have to know how to cross rivers (Teleportation with Teleportation Control, swimming with a waterproof blanket, staff of parting waters (that one was a huge improvement for the Game), freezing water with Frost Bolt or Ice Ball spells, ...)
An often underrated command is the 'l' (look) - this way You will learn about the monsters that surprise You (like the Spectres in the video)
The most memorable moments in ADoM are Not the wins (OK, the first win was great, I was congratulated for that achievement in the Community Forum) - it's the losses that will burn for a long time - especially if You thought the character to be a total tank - or If You died bc of a new constellation of circumstances You never thought being possible like being crushed by Your own luggage in the moment the strength of Atlas spell runs out.
    WTF?
Simply play it, the tileless Version 3.3.3 is great and only about 4MB big!
And the most fun are situations when You are so desperate that You try out unknown potions or wands or scrolls and manage the situation bc You were lucky (luck is also a Parameter that You have influence on...)

hey farmer class in legend of grimrock 2 is great. They level up by eating instead of fighting

Ventriloquism refers to the act of throwing one's voice. Making your voice sound like it's coming from somewhere else.
