Story of Bal Pujari.......When Muslim attacked the Kathmandu valley in ancient time, people had no freedom or to worship in Buddhist or Hindu temples, men were beaten or killed and females were raped ,so to continue the puja in the golden temple they have an idea of sending a young boy for puja so that muslims won’t suspect the kid. But every time boy return he had a different story that Shakya muni buddha played and ate by himself. At first, the boy parents doesn’t believe what he said but they knew kids doesn’t lie and is pure from the heart also he has different stories about playing with Shakya muni every time. So boy parents and others have an idea, if the boy can ask Shakya Muni “how to get rid of these muslims”. So did the boy n Shakya muni said to put 108 sack of rice in the crossing just before you reach the golden temple where we can still see a big flat stone on which those sacks were placed. When Muslim soldiers saw so many rice in the crossing they laughed, light fire and kicked it off. After that one-grain rice turned into one big bee and start stinging those soldiers by the time they flee from bee n reach the place call Chasal(800 in Newari) their 800 soldiers were killed. In this way, the Kathmandu valley was saved from an ancient Muslim attack. After that, they have a tradition of using bal pujari and as for kids, it’s difficult to handle all the work by himself so they introduce one old man to help him. According to this story if the old man doesn’t want to be pujari or get married, then why with bal pujari you may see also one old pujari to assist bal pujari? So I don’t think this story has any evidence. We put bal pujari cause we came to know Shakya muni love kids as they are pure and innocence and another older pujari just to assist the bal pujari, not because of some random king and his rules.
