    I was thinking today of a woman I know with depression and one of her therapists said that she needed to keep a daily schedule, and one of the most important things was to get fully dressed and ready for the day and not to lounge around in PJs in bed or on the couch. To get dressed is to be ready for the day and to anticipate life. This brought tears to my eyes, Jennifer. What an honor you gave the homemaker today. God bless you and thank you.

    💞 After my divorce I did "dress for drudgery" on the weekdays for awhile. I thought, "I have six children to care for, and what's the point of looking nice, anyway?" I had always dressed nicely in the home and it felt silly to worry about that after my home life fell apart. (This may have been a phase I needed to process through.) But after some time passed I thought, I owe it to myself to look presentable. I owe it to my kids since they have to look at me all day! Now I just have my four sons left at home (3 teens and an 11 year old) and I think it's as important as ever. I can't be a father figure, but I can be the best mother I can. As to the matter of nice clothes getting ruined, we can be practical. I don't wear white on spaghetti day! 😁🍝

      You know you shouldn’t put those ideas in your sons heads . You should do it every once in a while but don’t do it to show how women should be dressed up all day every day it will put a strain in your kids marriage trust me I have experience with it . I grew up dressing up everyday of my life and when I got married I decided to not do my makeup because I didn’t like it or wear clothes you wear on a special occasion . My husband thinks I stoped taking care of myself but I didn’t I just want to be comfortable just like he is every day of his life .

      @KristynLorraine 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    "Meanwhile, your true style is being stifled, and your creative expression through dress is gone."
    I was definitely there for the last six years, and I felt the consequences of these words deeply.
    Just three weeks ago, after watching your channel for a period of time, I finally made the choice to always be presentable. I'm doing my hair and make up every day, and dressing in beautiful things from the capsule I created every day too. Since I decided to dress beyond athleisure and to feel beautiful every day, I have been able to move towards real joy.
    So many good fruits have come from this change. It seems this was the one thing that was missing all this time.

    My niece just stayed with me for the weekend and as she was leaving for home, she told me that her husband likes her to dress up when she travels, especially when she’s traveling alone. I raised 4 kids, everyday I would take a shower, get dressed for the day, applied my make up and my favorite perfume. Kept a clean home. My children are grown and adults. My 26 year old son told me the other day that I looked beautiful and smelled nice every day of his life. They notice and it matters. They look put together everyday. Loved this video it made me choke up. We as women matter, look your best, wear your best, enjoy your beautiful things. You only live one life. Live it fully and we’ll.♥️

    This is lovely! My mom taught me to change my clothes, freshen my makeup and hair and dab on a bit of perfume in anticipation of my husband and sons coming home for dinner. We farm, and it’s nothing for me to do everything from working on a tractor, cleaning, doing laundry, and cooking all in a day. Now, I require a clean shirt, clean hands and faces and sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren sit down for dinner at least 3 times a week, and all appreciate it!

    Gosh, the ladies at the end of this video are all so wonderful, all those Women and Mothers with strictly capital W and M... I am still learning, but these short clips in the end gave me this sense of "we are all in this together" and how women and mothers hold this world together, make it beautiful and peaceful for our families and children. Yes, this is truly emotional and definitely brought tears into my eyes... Thanks a million, thanks to all of you beautiful ladies for what you are doing each and every day... ♥♥♥♥♥

    What a truly beautiful celebration of women! Made me emotional. I feel the women’s movement has wanted to kill this definition of what womanhood means. We don’t have to crucify the woman who enjoys lovingly taking care of the home and family to promote our sex in this world. I can’t thank you enough for what you are doing with your “voice” on social media. You are celebrating the beautiful God given qualities in women that set us apart from men. Wonderful job. Keep going. I know the path may not be smooth, but anything worth while is never easy.

    Ah, you just light my days. I’ve just been to target and bought a long slim dress to wear in our summer now around the house. I’ve been trying to dress better because of your beautiful example. Thankyou for inspiring us. I always loved my grandmothers’ examples, of long skirts and blouses or pretty dresses around the home. My own mother got a bit too “modern” and wore singlet tanks, expensive ones at that, with cropped trousers like so many older women these days, but it just wasn’t pretty. I don’t think I’ve seen as pretty a video as you tying your aprons on in the beginning of this one. You really light up my idea of what I can be like at home. Respectable. Classy. On top of things. These are never what I thought of here in Australia where everyone loves wearing next to nothing. Xxx

    I agree 100%. Self care and respect is the best reason to start the day by making the bed and getting dressed so you can forget about yourself and smile. And like your book says, it's about respecting others too.

    I normally listen to your podcasts with earbuds while preparing or cleaning, etc. This morning, I looked at the screen during the beautiful piano music and was taken back by the beautiful tribute to fellow Moms, wives, and homemakers. Your words at the end brought me to choke back sobs and blink back tears. The process of becoming a healthier woman as wife, Mom, and homemaker has been long and challenging. Your posts and books have softened the blows and given way to inspiring goals versus self loathing criticisms. Thank you for this today. My family and I will be blessed by it. Much love from a former SoCal native, now living in the mountains of Western NC, Kim

    Thankyou. This was great! I am definitely one of those drab dressers. I am a homeschooling homemaker of 5 and I dont look my best at home. I like how you said, "how do you want your children to remember you?" This past summer I had a near death experience with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. I have a new perspective and have been making positive changes. It was very encouraging and ill be making some changes in this area too for my husband, my kids and myself. Thankyou again.
