First, I appreciate this tutorial. I am in the Northern VA area and was quoted $2500 to do polyurea with polyaspartic top coat with flake, limited lifetime warranty and one day install. This is for a two car garage, 480sf, which is about 8yo with minimal floor repair required. For the cost of my time and lack of friends that are willing to do volunteer work, it is much easier (time of frustration is a cost too) and more cost-effective to choose to pay a pro to do the work esp with lifetime warranty!
$2,500 isn’t a bad price for 480SF. Here in Florida most companies I’ve ran into were $7.50-$10 SF. Same limited lifetime warranty. Doesn’t cover moisture so make sure they test moisture level in the slab.
That’s pretty darn good for a 2 car. You’d almost break even if you factor in your own time to install the floor plus the materials. You got a pretty good deal!
My whole house is going to be rejuvenated with epoxy! I binge watch your channel day and night! Hardly have time to be my projects because I am wanting the perfect color combinations! Thanks!!

@Mitch Quist hey Mitch. The comment reflects the content. You guys are amazing. Whaching you lot and artist till death gave me the confidence to do my own breakfadt bar!!! Ashame your stuff isn't available in the UK!!!!!
I’m looking to resurface an airy sunroom patio, it’s a fairly clean concrete floor and it’s only 10x10’. This tutorial is well done and builds my confidence. Thanks for posting !

Thank you so much for the priceless education you provided!! So very clear & concise! I personally love the medium coverage. I think this is kind of a very vintage thing. Hey Mitch! I am so excited that you guys finally have this for floors. I did my counters in November and called in to ask about flooring and was told it couldn't be done over wood which led me to looking at other companies.. however I am already so used to working with stone coat I didn't want to change and learn another system just yet..Sooo this is awesome. Nice video. It explains how to do it right, and also let's us know how involved, expensive, and labor intensive it is to do this the right way. Maybe doing nothing, and letting the concrete age gracefully isn't such a bad option.
I love that the Top Coats now come in a larger size with these new systems! I’m going to Top Coat my entire house so my kids stop ruining everything lol
The website says the sealer has a 30 minute pot life. I am going to do a 3 car garage by myself. Should I do each section of the garage and flake one section at a time so it is still 'wet' enough to get the flake to stick?
Hey Mitch....Absolutely LOVE the floor. I like the heavy full flake and the color is spot on. Have you guys ever thought of adding some metallic or mirror flake to the flake mix to make it look more like a high end terrazzo style floor?
Thanks for making to the end of the video! U could add some diamond dust or something to the clear polyaspartic or mica flakes to the flake step for a shimmer and bling!

Great question. This system is designed for the 1st timer DIY'er homeowner with extend open working times and curing times. Day 1 - fill cracks, grind floor, clean dust Day 2 - Moisture seal epoxy primer, broadcast flakes let cure overnight or if in a rush you can scrape in 7-8 hours. Hey Mitch, I am looking at a house with a similar layout, where there is a vertical to cover. The owner has already applied heavy flakes to the entire garage, however, there is damage along the vertical areas; like missing pieces of concrete. How would I go about fixing them and reapplying the flakes without redoing the whole garage? The garage only has flakes, but no clear coat on top.
Hey Mitch. What if you have a lot of moisture coming from underneath? If this product is still usable, I'm sure there are additional steps and maybe additives, but they weren't discussed in this video. When it rains over half an inch, the crack in the floor always looks wet.
Hey Roi, great question! With our brand new Moisture Seal Epoxy Primer you can safely apply our flooring system to concrete slabs without a vapor barrier below the slab. You'll want to do a more scientific moisture test using this kit: amzn.to/40115K3 Grind area, then use that test. email me @ mitch@stonecoatcountertops.com the results

My question es can I apply the epoxy flake ?
Great questions, Yes! You can apply this system over old tile or even wood sub floor. If using for a shower pan. Use extra non-skid additive, up to 6oz. per 1.5 gallon kit of top coat. I'll also show in a few weeks how to apply epoxy to a preformed foam shower pan then broadcast ground up quartz, let it cure and keep the topcoat off. The result is like walking on 800 grit beautiful sandpaper! NO slip at and looks stunning with an epoxy shower wall! Video dropping soon

Hey Mitch, I am curious about making epoxy covered wooden cutting boards. I know you can't cut into epoxy with a knife as that would cut it up just like it would any countertop. My solution is to bond a sheet of temperred glass to the surface so a customer could see the the beautiful apoxy artwork through the glass. Do you have any input for this small business idea? I have zero experience in this field but a couple hours researching suggests this idea should be possible. Thank you.

Hey Mitch! Thank you for the video very helpful! epoxy flake coating a brand new concrete floor in a garage, new house what surface prep is required before epoxy coating the floor? Is a surface grind required on a brand new floor? Thank you !
Hey Mitch, would I need to also fill the score cuts that were made when concrete was poured to for crack control? I would assume I would need to fill. Thanks
Yes, for a seamless floor fill the saw cut line with Floor Patch Epoxy Gel. Some folks choose to keep the lines or large joints. The flake floor still looks nice even if you don't fill. The metallic marble floors in the other hand, the cracks should always be filled.
First of all thank you for taking your time in explaining everything in the video, the last coat, the Clear one can be applied in parts ? Or does it has to be applied all at once
