Three Houses for the story, Engage for gameplay and map design. It's simple as that.

I'm young. My first fire emblem experience was three houses, and while I knew that, it was making itself different with removing weapon triangle and the class system, but I absolutely loved it. Even now, with playing engage, I find a major difference in storytelling as well.
Ultimately, I prefer three houses, for both the storytelling, and for the class system, as well as it being my first experience with the series.

Fire emblem 3 houses can be replayed in many times for different routes, i like the ending of verdant dear the most. I find flying unit is OP in 3 houses. Rn i am replaying 3 houses and still enjoy it.most of the game I play because i like the story telling.

I think that not having multiple endings is one of the big caveats that engage is missing
Three houses has more characters as well
But three houses is missing pvp which is a huge issue
If three houses had pvp added and engage had multiple endings, that would fix these games missing pieces.

I love almost everything from engage but yeah coming back from 3H its quite a change, i get some people really didn't like the monastery but as it was my first time playing it i really enjoyed it, like going to talk with the students and they did say some stuff about whats going on in that month or how the story was, i played completly blind not knowing anything about the story and i really wanted to get the Edelgard route but as clueless i was i didn't get it lol, so i had to finish silver snow first then i looked how i was supposed to get it and i felt like a dumb dumb, but back to engage the story was boring... like really lame i get that you get new characters yeah its cool but FORCE you to use them in a new chapter and i believe we all can agree that the deployment cap is so short + you have to use the new fellas joining the team with no emblems or skills heck cant even earn some SP, and the veyle mind control is really fucked up at first i didn't like it but meh it felt like she was in her edgy phase lol, but yeah engage probably has so little replay potential like 3H which has new game + , and engage should've really got it but what would be the point other than maybe keep SP? skills? but in the end its like just breaking the game to the point that is not fun anymore, 3h you can transfer stuff but you dont get like giga broken to the point to trivialize the game (maybe lol i may be wrong tho) but yeah thats my personal opinion engage was fun but prob just a nostalgia trip to the old Lords and characters and someone didn't even make to be an actual Emblem lol (F for Alm, Eliwood, Shez, Elincia, and the Avatars Counter parts (Robin F , Byleth F, Corrin M ) maybe we get some emblems at some point but prob not and engage is done for til the next game or remake if its real lol i hope.

Yes 100% agree on the story telling, Three houses is way better than engage with multiple route you can pick. For the game play, it is not balance in 3 houses since bow is so OP to compare to other weapon types lol. you can just make everyone wyvern lord and using bow, if you see archer, just get off wyvern and you are safe, the Lvl cap in 3 houses is 99, but when you level character to around 50-60, he almost immortal at that point lol.
Yeah the NG+ is the feature that make Fire emblem replayable. Unfortunately, Engage doesn't have NG+, that is the bad thing, the game developer think they will make it to let player coop online or fight online but it end up sad because doesn't matter how strong the team is, other player will just use Hortensia with Micaiah and entrap one by one until no one left in the battle. the AI in PVP is super dumb lol.
I really enjoyed Fire Emblem Three houses for the depth in its contents. and Fire Emblem Engage for its gameplay haha. they are all good game and I definitely will play 3 houses again soon

I have only ever played two Fire Emblem games and the fact that Three Houses was my first really did impact how I viewed Engage. I’ll talk about what I really enjoyed about Engage before I get into why I much prefer Three Houses.
I was really impressed with Engage’s animation. The bright colors and the action really just “popped” on the screen. In the beginning, I did get really interested in the story. That scene where the protagonist runs through that hallway while all his allies were battling to create a path for him was just really a sight to behold.
I really loved how weapons didn’t break in this game. I was quite indifferent about the weapons triangle piece. I thought it was fine, but I didn’t much care either way. The first few characters were interesting enough as well. And I did feel sad when Alear’s mother died.
But none of this was really enough to get me really engaged (pardon the pun). I didn’t know any of the other Emblem characters outside of the Three Houses one so I didn’t really care much either way. I much preferred Three Houses and their personal abilities instead of the whole rings thing in Engage. It felt overall gimmicky to me.
Another thing that I couldn’t really get into with Engage was its music. It had really generic music that I can’t even remember to hum as the music was so unmemorable.
Also, I had no interest in any of the characters that constantly just got added to the roster. There were no connections between the other characters. The support conversations were also very dull.
I’m probably in the minority here, but I really liked the quests I got in Garreg Mach. I missed that aspect of the game in Engage.
Overall, I was really invested in all the characters in Three Houses. I actually was really sad when my characters died in the game. In my first ever run through with no spoilers, I stumbled on the Crimson Flower route and I was just blown away when Edelgard turned out to be the Flame Emperor. I was that invested in the story.
I also much preferred Three Houses’ serious tone. I liked that it took itself seriously and I think the music was very fitting for what it was. I’m glad that characters also ended up together, certain ones anyway. I always looked forward to the next support conversations as well as they were far better written than Engage’s.
I also liked the flexibility in Three Houses on how you can build your characters and the abilities you can unlock by completing a class.
Overall, Three Houses felt like a labor of love, and Engage felt like a bit of a money grab to take advantage of the Fire Emblem anniversary. I’ve only played Engage once and I played Three Houses like 8 or 9 times now.

For the story, engage has good story if you compare it to other fire emblem games and this is the first time ever in fire Emblem the main protagonist can talk.
Fire emblem 3 houses is better at storyline when it offers 4 routes player can pick. If you pick crimson flower, the story still feels missing the last piece when Edelgard defeat Rhea and still need to face the ones who slither in the dark

FE:E Maddening mode is a joke compared to FE:3H Maddening. I had a FE:E Chapter 9 save of both Hard and Maddening. 31 enemies in both Hard and Maddening. Enemy Stats were the same in both Hard and Maddening. Ivy had 31 HP in Hard and 33 HP in Maddening. The Gimmick in FE:E, Maddening mode has no side battles to level up players, so by Chapter 9, you have a bunch of scrubs, and that’s what makes it more difficult. In hard mode you can level up players and Chapter 9 is easy. FE:3H Maddening, Enemies were 4 levels higher than Hard mode, and had more enemies on the map.
Devs took a lazy approach to designing FE:E Maddening.

    • @abrahamlee1
      @abrahamlee1  ปีที่แล้ว

yeah, maddening in FEE is hard by limit the chance for player to farm lvl. in maddening mode in 3H. i can still farm lvl but it is less time, FEE in gameplay mechanic is better and more balance than 3H. in 3H, I can make everyone wyverns rider and if I see archers, i will dismount them, and the disadvantage is gone. but I can't do that in FEE. there are a lot to talk about game mechanic between 2 games, but story and replicability is the most we are talking about 2 games. 3H we can play new game and pick different route but in FEE, there is only one ending

So.... the inter-battle base looks better. The graphics are better, and they added PVP.
Honestly, FE3H has some problems, sure, but despite that it's still the best game in the series by leaps and bounds. Byleth may not be the best avatar (it's still Robin. Ever since Awakening, it's been Robin and it's not close) but the sheer amount of content, control and options that 3H gives you completely dwarfs the rest of the series. It doesn't hurt that Fodlan is an excellent setting that just in the base game can go blow-for-blow with the other settings in the series with ease, many of which sport multiple games.
Honestly when Engage was announced, I was disappointed... and I still am.

A lot of the player base quotes maddening as "challenging, but not in a frustrating way." Usually difficulty is made by jacking up enemy stats to high levels so it takes 60 turns to clear a map.

I didnt play 3H until 2 years after, i also didnt get to fully play conquest bc of university. I now understand what happened during my absence in the FE community.
Overtime people saw fire emblem as the grittier darker themed nintendo game. Only for the cool kids who thrive off story and drama. With that, came in the three houses content creators. I honestly believe they are the reason the community is this divided.
They werent speed runners or legit gods at strategic games, they just abused the story tropes because thats what got them the views.
