It is fascinating how you manage the balancing act between richness of detail on the one hand and focusing on the essential features on the other. Your images, like the entire arrangement of your videos (with music and your loving way of narrating), radiate calm and energy at the same time. I think I would instantly recognize your painting style among hundreds. So inspiring!

This video of yours was especially fun for me to watch since my sister lived in Jackson for 40 years (just recently moved to Idaho) and I have visited her every year she lived there. I also lived there for 6 months a couple of years ago. I know those places you showed video of and the ones you painted. Thank you! I'm in awe of your painting and am curious about your process. How do your pencil lines not show through the paint?? Thank you for taking us there and sharing your remarkable talent.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am so glad to know you enjoyed this video. I actually just lay one brush stroke in with a bit more water and I don’t smear it by applying less pressure. Almost letting the brush glide on the paper ever so slightly :) hope this helps! Thanks for your support
what i love about this video is that it shows that you can capture the same magic that plein air gets, by using other crafts like photography and video. and i hope this comment is not too much, but your soul is intense in all of your videos, and i am glad you share her with us.

Your art is incredible and you have inspired me to practice art again! Because of you I've tried realistic stuff and loved the results! I was always scared of drawing realistically because if it was slightly wrong I'd get annoyed and it wouldn't be good but then I just let go and drew and thank you!! I'm still working on my skill but I hope to be at least half as good as you one day!

Awesome small gems! I love doing the same thing. Painting memories from trips later at home as well as painting on location. Your work is amazing.
Question: what benefit do you get from gessoing your paper before using gouache? Do you do it with watercolors too? I think of gesso as something oil painters use to prepare canvas. I've never seen any other artists gessoing paper for water-based paint, or talk about doing it, so I'm curious. Thanks!
Great paintings, BTW. :) The motel pic is amazingly detailed, and yet still casual and cozy looking. And one of those photos with the gorgeous red sky would make an incredibly painting. :)
she's said in her video all about gesso that it's good for gouache, acrylic, and oil, but not watercolor.

What a wonderful vlog ! I love it. Winter is my favourite season for the snow, the cold (I love the burning sensation when hitch hiking on the nose and cheeks), the warm blanket, the fire place and Christmas !

I see someone else asked about the gesso-ing the paper before painting the gouache mountain scene - I can see that gesso works with gouache, but gouache also works fine on watercolour paper (and I think the next scene you did you didn't gesso the paper first) - so I'm wondering why you did it on the first one. Just curious!
