🌿 acacia honey
🌿 glycerin
🌿 distilled water
🌿 glass Muller & glass palette
🌿 mortar and pestle
⭐ Q&A LIST BELOW:
💧 More info on the pigments?
🌿 these pigments are an exclusive collaboration between Choosing Keeping and a lovely pigment store called Saiun-do in Japan. I've talked about these pigments more extensively in my other recent videos as well.
💧Gloves & Respirator?
🌿 YES. I should 100000% be wearing gloves and a mask. If I wasn't filming I would have. However, the last time I wore gloves in a paintmaking video, the sound of the gloves were unpleasant to listen to to many people. I decided for the sake of the video to omit them. However, yes. Gloves are very necessary especially if you are not working with pigments specifically made for Nihonga paintings.
💧 Why add honey?
🌿 this step is optional but i prefer to add it since it gives the paints a nice texture. it will also preserve moisture.
💧 Filming Equipment?
🌿 Camera: Sony A7rIV
Lens: Sony - FE 24-105mm F4 G
Mic: Sennheiser MKE 600
Tripod: Slik Pro 500 DX
💧 Why don't the pigments fit back in after crushing them?
🌿 (Someone more knowledgeable, please correct me if I'm wrong) I'm assuming it's because the pigments were much more compact before being crushed. In its "rock" form, the powder is super compressed and tight which allows it to fit into the vials.
💧 Why make handmade paints rather than buying ones at the store?
🌿 It's kind of like cooking your own food. There are delicious meals you can buy from restaurants but food made from home is a different kind of delicious.
Any other questions?
💧
🌿 - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
There is such artistry from the filming to the editing to the way you hang your swatches to the way you showcased different actions with the making of the watercolors to even the end swatches of which palettes you were making up. Everything from start to finish of what you do is like a performance piece built into a meditative experience. Well done! I’ll be revisiting this video time and time again when I need a break from the noise.
🙏 thank you v much

The smell of flem

For anyone watching this, be sure you read the description
where she talks about the importance of wearing gloves and a respirator to do this. Not a paper surgical mask...
....a respirator.
You should also do this away from where you eat or sleep, and away from upholstered furniture, with adequate ventilation.
Some pigments are harmless, but others are very, very dangerous and can be poisonous, carcinogenic or harmful to your brain or nervous system.
Even pigments that are pretty safe overall can be irritating to the lungs when ground up.
Safety first!
Thanks!
do they become less harmful or harmless upon being mixed into the various liquids?
@@riv3rw4ter I would think they become overwhelmingly less harmful when mixed with the liquid. A good example is at 1:38 when they pour the pigment into the container. You can see all the dust it creates. Without the respirator, you would breathe all that in very easily and cause major lung problems. All the different colors are created from different materials and people can even be allergic to a specific color dye because of the material.
Once it becomes properly mixed in with a liquid, that harm goes away and any potential issues from flying dust are gone. This is also the same reason nail techs will wear masks while filing nails!
@@MeXoof thank you :D
This comment should be pinned.
I can't imagine how long it must have taken to film and edit this video, great work!
I think the pigment crushing took two or three days, based on the lighting changes. And then multiple days for mulling the paints. So probably over a week for filming and then editing took who knows how long.
Also the time it might have took to export the whole video, I’d be dead😅
@@Hithere-mindif-u-shutup lol same
shut up
I love that some colors go ‘cronch’ and ‘cranch’ when crushed
What's the difference
@@gamer6vlogs the difference is that some go cronch and some go cranch.
The tingliest “unintentional ASMR” video I’ve seen in a long while. Can’t imagine the patience and love for the craft it took to process all those tinctures.
Idk if it’s ‘unintentional’ as it literally says ‘Art asmr’ but it sure is tingly lol
Pretty sure it was intentional. It's just that it's also practical; she's making something versus destroying something, haha.
@@JackieBaisaunintentional” is sometimes used to qualify ASMR content that produces ASMR in the viewer in an organic way, which is to say it’s the task first and the ASMR afterwards, regardless of the intention. This is in contrast to what many ASMR content creators usually do, which is to find a pretext to try and induce ASMR in the viewer - the task is secondary to the intention of producing ASMR in the viewer.
Think bob ross vs gibi
@@earth-some youtubers use very high quality microphones, use asmr toys and stuff. but this just shows the process of making something
Love the "crunchy" sound of the pigments in the mortar and pestle.....the colors are sooo beautiful.....I would make the worst artist, because I wouldn't be able to pick a color to start with let alone use any of them.....I would just stare at their beauty and not use them.....
I’ve never related so much to a comment on TH-cam before 😂😂😂
⚠️ Those white shirtsleeves were living dangerously.
I'm saving the 3 hour version for later so I'm glad I got a taste of it in this version 😍

ur so creepy wtfffffffffffff
im bringing back the fact that crushing the pigment sounds like chewing those little heart shaped candies you get on valentine's day
I can't express what a diligent and meticulous work has been done! I guess only a tru artist can make a piece of art even of the process of making paint. I feel nothing than admiration from this video. Just WOW.
I can't put into words how much I enjoy your videos! Not just the actual film quality, like watching this beautiful movie, but everything from the colors you make into paints, how delicate you are when opening the packages, the tools you use (I'm obsessed with those little spoons!) to the lighting, it's just so....magical! Thank you for making these.
I love everything about this. Being able to just experience colour like this is such a treat!
No words can describe how much I love this - and all your other videos. The imagery as well as the sounds just give me this immense feeling of calmness and satisfaction.
Whenever things get too much (or I just need some time to myself) I come back to your videos. So thank you very much for all that you do ♥️ I really appreciate it!
There is always something so incredibly graceful about this video that is not only satisfying to hear but also to watch. I think that’s why it’s called ASMR (autonomous sensor meridian response), it’s meant to be great for multiple senses, not just hearing.
OMG the black pigment is gorgeous!!! It's so beautifully dark 😍 and the dark blue at 10:48, ahhh... and the purple and dark red after that one, OMG these pigments are PERFECT!
And the dark green at 14:37 is the exact shade of green I've wanted to dye my hair for years 😍
On cool brownish hair, alpine green by la riché directions should give you that color, tho maybe they changed the name to enchanted forest… L’Oréal Paris Colovista in turquoise should work too! I hope you get the chance to try it soon!
I totally agree with all your top picks! Amazing, rich colours 😊
I think it's Prussian blue, if you using acrylic I like Amsterdam the most
your patience is truly admirable, and the end result was a perfect blend of relaxing and satisfying. i can't believe i missed your channel before! i'll definitely be coming back.
It’s the beauty in the work, the satisfaction in the colors and a long breath for every single take. Thank you.
It's really enjoyable, I'm always so happy when you upload videos. The calmness and the compositions make it so appealing to the eyes. Thank you for your hard work ♡
hey just wanted you to know that your videos really help my depression and anxiety, when i watch them my mind goes completely silent and i feel like im in a beautiful fairytale🥰❤️
Words cannot describe how satisfying your work is ❤
I've always loved watching your videos of you making your paint from crushing down the pigment paint to mixing it and smoothing it on your glass top beautiful high pigmented colours and so relaxing to watch to thank you
The aesthetic of this is so relaxing 👌🏻✨
I've found it hard to sleep lately and this video personally help me calm my mind and I was able to get more sleep. Really love how soothing it sounds. I was watching the video and "accidentally" close my eyes and found myself in dreamland😌 Thank you for this video.
とても幸せな気分!素敵な音と色、粉になる様子をありがとう!
Can't wait to watch this again when I need a visual treat! Those colors made me swoon when they were being pressed and mixed together.
your videos are so underrated! the pigments you find are beautiful, i think some sort of craft made from their bottles could be very cool
Such a sublime vibe from this video. Lovely results! Beautifully made😊
what a beautiful youtube video, i just hope that you really wanted to do this and felt passionate about it, i can imagine that big videos like this would be utterly stressful to make especially spending so much money, so hopefully you felt good and excited about it and not stressed or worried! thank you for this amazing video!❤
That was brilliant, thank you for the insight into the process 💚
The color gradients in these boxes are sublime. I truly can't express how satisfying and happy it made me when you opened each one and I saw the colors arranged inside. Might be a strange sentiment...but it made me smile. Thank you for the video!
This is very calming and satisfying. I love it so much
This is beyond beautiful
I always come back to this video! I watch it, use it for focusing when studying, or for good ambience in general. Thank you!
thank you for posting this and putting it together it’s amazing ❤
I want to say . Indeed, your videos are excellent and very relaxing . I hope you're getting paid for your hard work. At the time of the pandemic, I was watching your videos every morning and evening , even if I had watched them . They even helped me sleep when I couldn't sleep. I'm an artist too, and watching your video in the background while I'm doing my work gives me motivation and I feel like we're working together. Thank you for your efforts for making such beautiful videos, I love you . Lots of love by HeX🖤
Thank you, this was so calming and beautiful
Can’t wait for the beautiful colors❤💛💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
U missed one 🩷
i'm impressed by how little paint you got on your loose shirt sleeve 😭beautiful video as always. 💞
so relaxing 😌 I love the mortar and pestle ❤️
the first green following the orange is such a delicious matcha latté green - or sencha tea 😮💨😭 i want to taste that color 🤣🥲😅😅😅
It must have taken so long to film and edit. Thanks for your hard work. I really appreciate it ❤️
Questions: 1. How often do you have to make paints? Like what is the "lifespan" of your paints?
2. Do you sell your paints or is this just a really relaxing hobby you do for yourself?
I kept waiting to see the rainbow color of your beautiful white sleeve. This was so amazing to watch. Who would have thought to use honey in making water paint? Thanks for all your beautiful work. ✌🏻🤍
I love the wrapping paper that was used!
This was like the best thing ever. So… intensely satisfying
oh my, the grinding sound is SO satifsying to watch and hear!
makes me wonder on the amount of money it took to get all those shades of pigment.....some art supplies are scary expensive TwT amazing work sometimes i wish certain aspects of traditional art like paint making weren't so freaking expensive it looks like a good skill to learn and relaxing to. itd be fun to learn and put that experience to use without having to spend an arm an a leg for your supplies....love the video the time a dedication to ones work really never ceases to amaze me never ^w^
I realize this comment is a little old but I have the answer! This set of 104 pigments is around US$1,000 including shipping
4:18 that glass mortar and pestle are mesmerizing
Your videos are so lovely & serene! 🥰
Not me watching how close your white sleeve was to the paint during mixing 🫣
Never seen your channel before. I'm laying in bed, and was just thinking I was curious how to make my own paint, and then I'd look up an asmr vid. And the first thing that popped up was this. Cool way to learn some stuff lol
I'm on my monthly thing suffering from cramps and this helped my cramps go away and helped me calm down.
The ASMR of crushing paint is giving my brain scratches i didn't know i needed.
Watching this is soo freaking relaxing I just be laying down watching these videos and it makes me tired 😂but I love watching you’re videos it’s soo relaxing I love it so much 💕💕💕💕
hi random person in my youtube recommended i did not expect this video to bring me so much comfort, thank you
I love Choosing Keeping and your beautiful videos! May I ask where to find the glass measuring spoons used please? These pigments are gorgeous! This is quite a process, I enjoy watching very much. I love the crunching sound breaking up the pigment pieces. You must have a lot of passion and patience for your practice. I appreciate!
I can feel the crunches in my soul 😩
I know I’m a year late finding this but SO HAPPY I DID! I’m intrigued & will be delving into making my own paints. Imho having a thorough understanding and being completely comfortable with our artistic tools assists in creating wonderful & unique pieces of art
Satisfying, for both eyes and mind💙
That was the most satisying asmr ive ever seen. And I dont generally even like asmrs so it was that good
The process of grinding on glass sheet is asmr of all asmr... I wanna do it ❤
I fell asleep while watching and dreamt of having all those colors and them my momo ruthlessly woke me up for no reason and I cried a little bit. It was a beautifull dream.
I have zero artistic ability when it comes to painting, but I have every desire to crush pigment and make paint. ❤️
The place where she makes her paints is like a little Chemistry lab for her where she enjoys making beautiful colours.
I keep getting chills when she's crushing the pigment it's so good
the green at 16:34 is so soothing!
your like a expert color scientist with all those glass tools and samples strung up by string!!1!1!1
I'm finding this video way late, but my favorite moment is that first honey drop. The MOST impressive thing about this entire video is the fact that you're wearing a white shirt and I don't detect a single hint of paint smudge on it.
the first red looked like crushed rose petals, im obsessed
by the end, the videotape began to feel like a movie. a film full of love for your occupation.
Totally mesmerised
Veyr bold to wear a white shirt while working with very vibrant pigments. Jokes aside, I love watching these videos so much. its very satisfying to see the whole process!
Wow cool sensory video. The amount of time, you're lucky to have. Along with the filming and editing.
I just watch your videos cause they make me relaxed 💛😍😊
the things i'd do for actual GOOD lookin paint like this is unimaginable
In seriousness though this is such a lovely video and shows your intense effort. Thank you so much for sharing
You are very skilled at what you do
this video is so perfect i can cry
The addition of honey in these paints is the main reason I prefer to lick watercolors in museums
Can relate

I just happen to stumble upon this and it was amazing. I wanna do it. But it looks quite hard. And fun.
That brilliant teal at 3:51 is the BEST color.
I really love your ASMR series from JP🇯🇵❤️
omg look at those tiny cutie jars 🥰🥰🥰
the crunchy sounds of the pigments being crushed make me want to eat it.... forbidden snack...
4:32 I love the color and the sounds so much
