My main question is what is these people’s plans if they win? Ok so the protagonist is dead but now you’re a giant abomination of flesh claws and tentacles with only the barest shred of humanity left? What now?! How do you continue living after that transformation?

The only that can explain this is that they are deathseekers and try to grab heroes to hell with them.
But this doesn't fit in games plot. In conclusion I have no idea.
so for some of them they were already dyeing(I.E. William and Carla). some just really wanted to kill the person who ruined their plans (I.E. slatter, wesker, and others). some had no choice and where infected against their will (simmon, jole, steve,). and in peirs case, he choose to do it for the BSAA and save the world from HALOS.

Ironically the only one that had full control on the virus on its body and could revert back wouldn't really want to do that.
Alexia deemed herself as a Queen and superior to humans. So she would probably just want to stay on her mutated form.
Wesker should be able to bond with Uroboros and control it at will too.

I love how the big eye on Birkin G2's shoulder in the RE2 remake looks around frantically as he's hanging from the crate that's about to fall. He's clearly going "oh crap oh crap oh crap" in whatever mind he has left.
Alexia's first transformation is really well designed. She doesn't have huge claws or 10 eyes, she's not 15 meters in size, she doesn't have a monstrous shriek...
She's human-sized, slow and silent. Yet she's terrifying, it feels like she could effortlessly kill Chris in a split second if he got a little too close
I can never tell if Code Veronica is canon since Capcom acts like it didn’t happen.
Later RE games reference the Arklay mansion, Raccoon City, Las Plagas, etc
But nobody ever talks about T-Veronica that much.

To be fair, Simmons didn't get a bad deal compared to the others, as he can at least still assume a human form and seem to be in full control of his mutations.
Even Wesker would have a hard time going to the bathroom post-uroboros, with a bit of regeneration Simmons can still stay at home and watch tv, or go out for a drink

I find in all this compilation that the transformations are linked to the criteria of strength and power contemplated by the guest. All of them become abominations, but in diferent forms, this shows that not only do viruses turn people into monsters, but it also relates them to their psyche; like thoes who look physically weak become muscular giant mutants with elemental forces, others with strong personality and character in animalish/insects features, and those of home concept are fused with their environment.

The only virus that dictates the capability of the host based on psyche is the Veronica Virus, the rest of them depends on genes or other infections.
The plagas parasite is an exception of course because it is a fully fledged living being that can be controlled completely if you have the right plaga type and even then if you use it's capability to manipulate your physical form well... Your mind will be damaged on the way.

I feel like I'm watching a fuckin' opera here.
The whole RE saga offered some of the most well-written & thought out, complex backstories and scenarios in video game history. Even the secondary characters are genuinely well-written, enough to care about them. And the villains are also intricate and interesting.
Also, Leon is technically a mutation. He can’t get infected, he can sense when there’s danger, and he’s a sharpshooter that can barely miss a target.

Interesting how Resident Evil monsters became more insectoid over the years. It makes them more disturbing than the fleshier monsters. The plaga were also quite unsettling, both due to their appearance and their parasitic nature. At least in my opinion.

You get to play as wesker in RE4 in Mercenaries. You get to use some of his unique guns, he has a super strength ability that sadly has a cool down time limit. But at least you still get to kind of use his super strength ability when you kind of stun a zombie from shooting them in the face. Sadly no super speed though...
He's pretty much the overall main character of Umbrella Chronicles.

Man think about how old Leon is. Like in the last bit with him fighting William, and Sherry being Williams daughter, she's gotta be about 8-10years old here here. And when RE6 comes around she's late teens-young adult. But Leon is still very young and spry in the game. I think Leon might be like how Albert Wesker was. Where he's infected but still looks practically normal. Would explain Leon being able to tank so much dmg, have somewhat inhuman reaction times, and still have a sharp eye for shooting despite him should being around late 30s early 40s in RE6
Ok so I did some research and counting. So in RE6 Leon Kennedy is 37, and sherry is 27, Leon is def infected with something to be doing all that shit he did and tank so much dmg as well as other abilities, at 37 years old.
Perhaps Wesker and Krauser and Simmons are the only ones who kept most of their humane looks after transformation

I don’t care what anyone says, Resident Evil 4,5, and 6 are great games up there with the likes of the first 3 Resident Evils and Code Veronica. The action gameplay doesn’t change the scary and unsettling nature of the series, it’s been there from the beginning and never left. It’s up there with Clock Tower 1 & 2, Splatterhouse 1, 2, & 3, and a game called Sweet Home for the NES/Famicom, and I know there’s more.
I think William's transformation is the best!

Yeah, the game actually looks like that naturally on every version, but theres a green filter thats automatically set, which you arent given the option to change. Reason being that the developers thought the game would look better with a gritty feel. Theres mods on PC that legit just go into the game files and shut the filter off

His whole body combusts internally, burning his clothing off, and yet despite transforming into a wolf/centaur thing, a t-Rex, and a giant fly, still keeps most of his pants on.
