In case you are new to Lalitha Sahasranamam, the best way to learn is by chanting with someone. This is how i learnt it. Anyone new to Sahasranamam, always has this question. When is the right time to chant? Just know that if the desire to chant Lalitha Sahasranamam arose in you, it is only because Lalitha willed it so. Lalitha Sahasranamam only comes into our life when it is right for us. Without Her permission, nobody can chant Lalitha Sahasranamam. Therefore you can chant anytime. Depending on your lifestyle, chanting daily may not be practical. Don't worry about it. Even phalasruthi of Lalitha Sahasranamam acknowledges this. Fridays, Navami / Chaturdasi / Pournami (full moon), Your birthday or your family member's birthday, First day of new year or first of every month are all great days to chant. Chanting Lalitha Sahasranamam on full moon day after moon rise is considered auspicious.
Just ensure you can be free of distractions, get a book or a PDF online in language of your choice and chant along. It is best if you picturize Lalitha in your mind. Either focus on the picture in the video or review meanings of one or more dhyana sloka in this channel and imagine her form. No matter how frequently you chant, the most critical requirement for chanting Lalitha Sahasranamam is Bhakti bhavam. She can only be won over by our love towards Her. Understanding dhyana sloka and imagining that Devi is sitting in front of you is helpful to cultivate the right attitude for chanting LS. If that Devi who is resplendent is sitting right in front of you, smiling at you and ready to listen to you chant her 1000 namas, how would you engage with her? Won't you be in awe of her and treat her with reverence? That is the bhavam we must maintain through out our chanting. Learning the meanings of namas is helpful in this regard.
Chanting Lalitha Sahasranamam with right attitude will definitely bring good results. Our thoughts, words and actions, our worldview, how we treat others and how we respond to others will change for the better. Leads to long lasting Happiness, Health, Hope and Harmony.
