I have a very short range, on the alto side of scale. When I lower the key of the song, the verses just lost their colors, as my voice sweet spot just don’t fall on them. When I sing higher, it sounds beautiful and I can stylish all I want, with all the frills, but then I can’t sing the high part and it’s frustrating. Using head voice just don’t cut it, some parts just necessitate power belting to convey emotion. Really frustrating as another song goes into the bin. Not many songs out there are friendly to female alto singers. -sigh-
I feel this struggle too! Like I can sing Lana Del Rey songs but sometimes she goes too low and I lose it a bit when she goes super high. I have faith in both of us that we can expand our ranges!!
Oh that's great to hear because some of Indian singers in the show were sarcastically taunting the contestant if you know by any means how to increase once scale or range let us also know and they laughed in short they were telling it's not possible even i felt then so but doubted them too at the same time... It's good to hear with practice we can increase our vical range it's absolutely beautiful to have a wide range of vocals like embodying various art forms wide range of it and embodying everything art science spirituality as much as you can it's such a beautiful feeling of expansion and deepening our knowledge and skills it's beautiful !
Dimash says, his range is a bonus, but not the most important thing. The most important thing, according to Dimash, is to feel the material deeply and sing from your heart and soul, not the range.
He is a great singer but he CAN say that when his range is SO extensive. On the other hand, one should sing within their range without trying to extend too high too soon, otherwise vocal cord damage can occur.
@@dianeshepherdlyricsoprano1394 I agree. There is a young guy who posts YT videos of himself covering Dimash songs. And I wrote to him offering that he look back at Dimash's younger videos. Dimash has been training under great coaches since the age of 5. And if you listen to him in his early teens, you would not think he would become the great voice he is today. He trained since 5, slowly carefully developing this range under the care of great coaches. I wrote to the boy that I offer he be patient and not try to get to Dimash's level quickly but follow his idols example of taking his time and developing the foundation classically first....increasing range slowly over tiime :)
That sounds like humble bragging to me. It's like saying "artistic skills is just a bonus, but what matters is that you paint from the heart". No. It's so not true. That's bogus advice. Skills DO matter, and skills are PROOF that you're doing it from the heart, since you worked so hard to get where you are with your craft.
Not to take something from Dimash, but to me the most important thing is to be mindful of what you are doing. If you have deep understanding of your instrument you know the limits you can overcome to improve. ofc you have to deliver emotions, but technique is the foundation on which your artistry relies
Thank you, I feel that my voice become more rest and better when do on expanding range excercises, I don't know why but after these excercises the voice in the middle becomes more stable❤🌹🎶
Hi Lisa. I am a fairly new subscriber to your channel (around a week ago). I am finding your lessons extremely good, but also an element of fun included which I read was synonymous with you! My range is not terrifically wide (only C3 to C6). However I CAN hit high notes in the songs from movies and musical theatre, being a classical/MT singer. My range HAS extended in the four years I have been singing. I do work very hard, and am always interested in expansion of the vocal range, hence I was drawn to this particular lesson. I am using straws too, when I do high voice warm ups (scales of course!) So a great big thank you Lisa, for this very helpful sharing
I have been trying to sign up, but the site keeps going around the same pages. I am still waiting for the email that I signed upmfor the newsletter? What am I doing wrong?
How do I know which notes on the piano I have to hit when I go higher or lower? Can you make a tutorial about how to use your piano so you can use it for voice exercises?
Hi my lovely Lisa! I subscribed because of you!!! You are such a star!!! What can we do to fix it when we are coughing after a sickness in high notes?!
Hi, do you recommend using all my range, including head voice, while doing those exercise or should I stay in the chest register and try to expand that? I have a range of about (on good days) E2 to A5 (Disturbed's Sound of Silence to Steelheart's She's Gone), but for that, I use chest, mix and head voice. At this point, I don't really need to expand my range, but at 43, I'm trying to keep it for as long as possible and all the help I can get is welcome, including range expansion exercise. ;) So what do you recommend? Thanks a lot for all the great content.
I absolutely love your lessons! You teach with such compassion and kindness. Thank you.

I love your teaching and energy so much Thank you!
I have the range but not the control or vibrato 😅 thanks for these videos.
❤thank you Lisa🎉
For me, trying to do a Geee sound always raises my larnyx regardless of how low or high I sing.
Mine raises with high notes and lowers with low ones. No idea how to prevent that when it seems like a natural bodily function.
This is amazing 😻
Love your teaching .u r really awesome .
I just enjoy watching ❤thank you for this tips ..I am a music lover also trying hard to sing 😍
GOD bless❤️
Ur extremely talented

she is playing arpeggios on the I cord, and she is playing the same thing but in a key higher/lower every time she goes up or down.
Wow this is wonderful I want to be your student
I feel so bad for my neighbours

On the second vocal exercise is your mouth supposed to be open or closed it looks like your mouth is closed?
Where do we find the Pitch App?
