You got the foil of the one rare you didn't get in the box and it was replaced with a mythic. That makes the randomization like 10x more insane
Clearly Rudy just used the same footage from him opening the first box then dubbed new dialogue over him opening it again. Then he utilized a complex series of pulley's, lever's, and mirrors to make it appear as if there are 2 of the same cards sitting on the table.
Also in the 2nd box you did get a foil center of the sea so technically they were identical

this is a serious question I'm new to magic. do they ever make new cards or is it just re prints?
Soulsreaper they make new cards but anything with "masters" in the set title is gonna be just reprints
if you pay attention, while not "all" the non-foil rares/mythics are the same, if you watch, the uncommons are the same with each of the identical rares between the 2 boxes. the only differences were the foils, commons and the 1 jace for the mikokoro.
Teddiursa92 mikokoro foil though in the 2nd box. I know, not the same, but the same rare did show up. Just shiny this time.

No one else is talking about it, but the fact that Jace of ALL cards being the only difference is just as much of a red flag as unrandomized packs/boxes. We all know that Jace is there to sell this set, let's not lie to ourselves here. They unban him, and then put him in a new set. HMMMMMMM. So his value is up and he is perhaps the most hyped card printed in decades.
So to sell more packs and boxes how could you keep his value high somehow? I mean he is a mythic sure, but it would still flood the market and eventually everyone would have what they want...
You make a secret new rarity slot higher than mythic and make Jace the only card in that slot...
So essentially Jace is a "secret" rare card. His icon still says mythic, but he is really a "secret" rare. My guess (and please god someone with the money to test it see if I'm right) is not one every few packs like a mythic, but one every few boxes. My guess is he is one every 3 boxes, and that one box displaces one other rare. Look at the two opened boxes here. There are indeed 3 mythics in each box, so one every 8 packs. But Jace didn't take a mythic slot BECAUSE JACE ISN'T A MYTHIC RARE. He takes out another regular rare slot to be a "secret" rare. He is a new level of rarity never before seen.
Test me. He is either every other box or every 3rd box is my guess. I don't see how it could be anything but that unless I'm mistaken. The other thought is that there are Boxes(unrandomized) that are A, B, C etc. These boxes will be the same stuff if they are both A boxes(as we see in this video) each B box is the same etc. However there is always going to half that are normal and half that have a Jace. So BoxA1, BoxA2;Box B1, BoxB2; BoxC1, Box C2. Then all you have to do, in theory, is decide where each box goes if you want to. Think about how malicious this can be. If Wizards really wanted to screw over one retail store, or favor some shill on youtube etc. they could know which boxes are good and custom curate boxes they send to people because they know which boxes are the best. It seems they didn't expect Rudy here to grab a Type A1 and type A2 box. Again this is just theory #2.

I see what you're getting at here. But a Jace in every third box would be way more Jaces than if he was evenly distributed with the other mythics. 15 total mythics in the set, 3 per box, averages each mythic to be a pop 1 per 5 boxes. Or am I thinking about this incorrectly.
But either way; this could indeed indicated a controlled Jace population beyond that of fair odds.
true after thinking about it I realized that was too frequent. But I think he is given his own rarity slot allowing wizards to know when they send out boxes not only which boxes have what rares/mythic rares, but also which ones have a jace. Hate a particular store? Don't give them any jace boxes. Have someone that is sucking up to you hard? Send them a couple extra jace boxes. I think the only way this could be random is getting a foil Jace. It seems that foils are random, but even that might not be true honestly.
Cooper I would guess you are partly right. There are probably something like 20+ different boxes, but however many variations there are, Jace bumps a rare in a certain number of them.
1 every 3 boxes is to often. Id bet its more like 1 every 6 or 1 every 10.
I remember watching a video about this topic with fatal push as an example. It was proven that it appeared way less than all the other uncommons of Aether Revolt, because it was obvious that it was going to be a top tier removal card, so you might only get one per box or so, hence the 9$ price

They had a similar problem with boxes few years ago in the RTR block that allowed people to map booster boxes opening a few packs

It's bad publicity. In this case, it is bad because it will lose them money and investments. They're trying to protect themselves, instead of taking responsibility and correcting their mistakes. Considering Rivals of Ixalan was such a financial failure for them they discreetly took it out of print early, they aren't learning from their mistakes.
Rudy is willing to speak his mind and his truth, especially on the market given his background and current investment into Magic. If Wizards disagrees with it they'll try to silence it, or will not back it, hence unapproved.
This happened to me with Iconic Masters when I bought a sealed half case but I wasn't filming my openings. I had 2 rares from each box of the sealed half case that were different. I still have a picture of it. Smh... Finally someone got it on camera.

Granted they may not be consecutive. It's just that if they're fucking up this bad I find it easier to believe that they're consecutive than he happened to pick the two matching boxes out of the 20 some odd boxes lying around. Or there could just be several duplicate boxes in that pile.

Nope - just means the box was one card over on the card track. If the box has a regular Mikikoro in it there will never be a regular Jace (assuming single rare sheet)

WOTC unbans Jace and then make him extremely hard to find in these booster boxes. Makes perfect sense now. So, now instead of Jace taking a huge hit from all the copies we thought were going to hit the market, it'll just be a slight road-bump for his astronomical valuation.
Besides the obvious disaster here, the old hidden rarities of Homelands and Chronicles (C1, C2, C3, U1, U2, U3 etc.) are really making themselves felt in these later sets and in particular in the Masters products. I feel sick that I ordered a box now seeing as though after the spoilers I was consoled at least by the large amount of great commons and uncommons that, after this video, seem to have the same pull rates as Path to Exile...

People have rewatched the video and the middle and right column in the boxes are IDENTICAL. Meaning if you popped a Tris as the 13th pack, that being the top pack on the middle column, then you knew EVERY SINGLE OTHER PACK. This is bad news for this set as Stores can easily open just the top right pack, map the boxes EV, and then if its above MSRP it goes to singles, if not it gets sold to customers. Meaning buying loose packs is a waste, meaning sales of loose product is going to tank. This in turn increases the Supply of single cards which shoves the singles prices down. Meaning if it is bad enough this could completely tank the secondary market for many of these cards.

As you can see, the middle and right columns were LITERALLY IDENTICAL in terms of rares. The left column has the Jace and a different order. Foil rares/ mythics are also in different spots

This actually happened to me back when Worldwake was current. I was, of course, searching for that elusive Jace. I bought a box from a local game store in Louisiana. No Jace. I was in Dallas, TX for a convention and decided to try my luck by buying a box from a vendor at the convention. Not only was there no Jace but I got the EXACT same mythics and rares from that box, including the foil rare (Strength of the Tajuru). I was super disappointed. Later on, my brother and I went together on a case of Battle for Zendikar (those sweet Expedition lands, right?). I opened two boxes and they were very similar, with maybe a few variations. I did pull a Gideon from each box. Pretty much the ONLY time I've really hit jackpot on a box was Eternal Masters. I pulled a regular Jace, Foil Jace, Mana Crypt, Karakas, among other things.

Best of your opening ever. I can't still believed what i just saw. This means that Wizards purposely control what is in the box. To make sure every box is near a target EV so the people who opened them do not get a 300$ EV box or a 100$ EV box and be kind of happy with what they got? I soo regret to have purchase this product, first time I bought a Master set and will be last time. I had promised my LGS owner which is also kind of a friend that I would honour my pre-order and after previews I was so regreting it. I was sure that Wizards would have gone full craziness with this set.

That's always going to be true to an extent - they want to control the probability to make sure it feels random without actually being purely random (trust me - you don't actually want pure random), but something like this should never happen or at least be EXCEEDINGLY rare. Definitely sounds like they fucked up the algorithm somewhere.
I believe planar chaos was more or less completely random as I recall getting 3 or 4 of the same worthless blue rare, and two damnations from a single booster box.

The funny part is that Triskaidekaphobia is actually a nonbo with Redemption. Activating Tree of Redemption then casting Triskaidekaphobia would actually cause you to lose the game on the spot. Tree of PERDITION is the combo enabler that wins you the game, if they wanted to support the combo that's the card they should have put in the set.
People have been making jokes about killing themself with Triskaidekaphobia and Tree of Redemption.

I'm throwing a like in to help keep this video moving. I know with the new TH-cam algorithm, likes have been devalued, but it's the best I can do with limited resources.
I know that achieving true randomization is impossible and that mapping packs has been a thing for years. But, this was ridiculous. It seems like it would be super easy to just do some quick number crunching and figure out what's in a given box. A limited player could easily figure out who is getting what rares and uncommon's at their table with very little effort, especially if a player is buddy-buddy with an LGS owner who would let them look at a serial number beforehand.
This is a new set. Is this what we have to look forward to with Dominaria and Core 2019? I was legit excited about those two sets. The Greed Monsters at WotC have decided they don't even need to try to hide anymore.

I originally watched because of the Path of Exile backdrop, but then I started watching a bunch of videos. You make great stuff, Rudy from Alpha Investments.
Someone on reddit actually compared the pack order. Not only are 23/24 rares/mythics the same, but the middle and right stacks are in the exact same order. That means that the boxes can be mapped for certain. If someone had a completed map opening the second box they would know what 2/3 of the box contained after opening a single pack, and exactly where to find the expensive rares in that 2/3. The other 1/3 may be randomized to a small degree, or it may be equally mappable and someone would know if they had a Jace box, and even which pack has Jace just by opening the top left pack. The possibility exists that entire booster boxes can be mapped using serial numbers. At the very least, 2/3 of the box can be mapped, so good luck with your purchases of individual booster packs.
EcnalKcin I read this morning that it’s happening everywhere. A lot of stores are returning cases back to Wizards. This is a huge lawsuit.

Opening a Tree of Redemption will give me ptsd flashbacks to opening a Novablast Wurm back then from Conflux. I was a noob back then and it was my first mythic from a pack. I was so hyped until I learned it was just bulk. The experience crushed me so much that I never bought packs ever since.
I think that this happens a lot. We always joked with my friends that the store where we go knows which boosters have something valuable inside, so they are only selling the useless ones and sell the rest as individual cards.

A similar thing happened to me with an Iconic Masters box where 20 out of 24 boosters were duplicates - I got the same commons, uncommons and rares twice.
So I hear on the shady track printing grapevine that there's 25 tree's to every one Jace lol. And that they put the jaces in by hand.
Jesus, and people worry about players cheating by not shuffling their cards right...
I see that buying boosterpacks of this is a ride straight to hosetown.

I disagree that this isn't a iconic masters 2.0. Even though 25 isn't as bad as iconic, masters 25 was supposed to be the redeem set. Thus, it is held to a higher standard and so was just as bad as iconic masters in a scaled sense
Also I wouldn't be surprised by how jayce was the only outlier in the replicate boxes that jace has it's own unique ratios to itself in some sort of lottery thing. Too much of a coincidence
What's worse is that this isn't the community's fault for overhypeing anything. WotC talked this set up like it was worth its weight in gold. It's absolutely sickening.
And even if the box prices drop to $130 USD, it's still not worth it, since there's only 24 boosters per box. And up here in Canada, that price is increased by another 25%-30%. I'm staying far away from this set, unless my LGS has a Buy-Something-Get-One-Masters25 booster pack deal going on. I guess getting the singles will be nice.

@Nicole L Um, yeah, that's why I I'm saying it's 25% -30% more expensive in Canada. If something costs $1 in the US, it'll cost me $1.30 in Canada with the current exchange rate, which fluctuates regularly.
It's things like this that make me thankful that my time spent in Magic was brief and casual.

WotC need to hit a home run and they did, they hit it straight out of the park! The only problem is they missed the ball and what they knocked out of the park was what is left of the catcher's head. Now they have a mess to clean up.
You say that the differences between the two boxes is that one had Jace the Mind Sculptor and the other had a Mikokoro, Center of the Sea. But Jace's box did in fact had a Center of the Sea as well in the form of a foil.

At 12:33 he opens a second mikokoro center of the sea just foil so the box are exactly the same just the second one had an extra Jace but I think he missed it because he put the second one in the foil pile instead of the rare pile
Because that second Mikokoro was in the foil slot of the booster, not the rare slot.
Just like with the box 1 Armageddon.

Rudy, this exact same thing happened to me with *3 out of 4 boxes in a case* of Eternal masters. Wizards told me "we are aware that there can be issues in the print run" and gave me no further support. Clearly they haven't made any improvements, so please take them to task for what they're doing here.
