You bought well there 👍 Looks like the 60-65% rule paid off. You were chasing $100 a carat colour. The math says you should have 11-12 carats of finished material, all bar any disasters. You got that with your cuts. Probably around the $1200 mark in value. So your offer of 775 was a good price.
Yes if both stones were set as a matching pendant and ring set, you could increase that value to their original asking price of $1700 but as I said before, most sellers add on the “implied value” bringing the price of the rough to nearly a finished price. Always trust the math. Even if you don’t sell your stones, it’s still nice to know that they are worth a little more than what you paid for them.

Great video Ricky. Stone gave what I thought it would be. Surprisingly it has matrix host rock in part of it? I think you broke even or there about . It made a very good content for the channel so it’s a win :) the milkiness was going to stay on this one. Still couple of good stones and the big one is a winner for the money it has nice Andamooka orange and pink which is awesome

✨⭐🌟Opal Odyssey🌟⭐✨ The unknown possibility that causes extreme anxiety would prevent me from ever buying a piece like this one. I am kind of getting what you mean now about perfection from your cuts. I still like freeform though. Happy cutting opal.

Another banger of a video, listening to your thought process has been incredibly helpful. Just out of curiosity, do you ever consider cutting any Ethiopian opal?

I enjoy waking up to your videos. I have noticed that you take the back down before the front and that Justin usually takes it off last. How did you get into cutting opals?

Good vid nice stones in the end. It is crystal cos the light comes through it. I think the term is solid crystal when backing still in the stone and just crystal when thick enough to remove. Feel like you’re cutting yourself short at 100crt considering it’s an 8ct stone. They all say value goes up over 4crt I think double it to 200. 👍🌈🔥

That definitely wasn't a $1700 stone. And it was never going to cut into a clear crystal - it's obviously a white opal. But I do think you got two pretty descent stones out of it.
Maybe shop around more next time. I think you will find better quality stones for the same price. Just a suggestion. 🌈✌🏼🇭🇲

Nice cut. Not a money maker, but you did ok. Probably hard to find equivalent finished stones for $700.
If crystal, you’d be at $100 per ct, no problem. Not sure you’re quite there with white opal.
Wrt brightness, 2 (perhaps a 2+). Under direct lighting, a 3 would look at least a bit flashy. A 4 would look spectacular.
