SocialFi has been bringing thought-leaders together in the realm of Web3 as the centralized paradigm of online communities continues to present problems in today's digital age. DSCVR, a decentralized social platform, is one such project that aims to disrupt this centralized model and create a new era of community ownership and privacy. In this interview, we sit down with Rick Porter, the CEO and founder of DSCVR to learn more about their vision and how they plan to achieve it.

The conversation starts with a brief history of DSCVR and how it came to be. After being launched on Solana back in October 2023, just over a year later in March of 2024 the team reported 450k connected wallets, 250k monthly users and over 25 million posts. This growth is impressive, especially considering the project is still in its early stages.
"We have about 75,000 daily active users" - Rick Porter
Rick continued by explaining that unlike other centralized social media platforms, users don't have to be logged in to browse content on DSCVR. With that in mind, more and more people are discovering DSCVR and the daily active users may be more than what can be analyzed. These 'Lurkers' as Rick puts it may soon convert to become active (signed-in) users, creating a ripple effect of growth.
As a Web3 social app with crypto components, DSCVR also has a protocol that has the same usability in Web2 platforms. The protocol is being designed to empowers users with the ability to interact with on-chain assets. This bridges the gap between decentralized apps and traditional social media platforms, making it easier for mainstream adoption. This feature is set to launch in the near future and Rick is excited to educate communities within their platform about the power of blockchain and how it can change the way we interact online.
