Chris Another great video mate,I work all day ,and watching a dedicated kayak angler and catching fish relieves the stress, looks hard work , but you make it easy
Hi John, thanks very much I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. It’s a great way to fish, very connected and great for relieving my own stress. Thanks again and tight lines 👍🎣
this is MrBear from florida .glad to see you got out and found some fish. i have been side lined for a moth and a half, wind rong tides, and aunts and uncs doctor visets. here in florida i dont fish deep water like you ,we are shalow water . but i can still pull twenty pound fish out of 5to10 feet of water. at end of may i start a 100 day tunemant hope wind stops blowing 15 to 20 knots. have fun you and yours stay safe.
fishing from the rocks at the car park and cafe, I found what is, without a doubt, the snaggiest tackle death mark in the whole of the UK. next time I go, Im taking the yak.
Yeah it’s pretty rough there isn’t it. I wasn’t far out at all really but fishing vertically when I was that close in so a bit easier to get out of the snags 👍🎣
Good bit of tide running that point for sure, but not worth the pain of the get back, nice crack of fish great vid, cant wait to get on my yak. Normally the warmer months when my brother can get out with me, I'm not brave enough to solo sea fish yak. Hence why I think your vids are so top, keep up the vids love em. Tight lines.🎣
I've been up that way quite a bit shore fishing. One trip stands out...literally a fish a cast for over an hour, all pollock over 6lb biggest just on 9lb, my friend hooked an even bigger one but its last bid for freedom was successful and he lost it in a snag. That mark was just over your shoulder at one point haha! Great video shame you didn't get any big ones!
Yes it’s a magic spot, the big lads have been a bit thin on the ground this year, usually I would’ve had quite a few pollack around double figures by the end of may. Everything seems a little late this year is the general consensus. 👍🎣
Got to hand it to you Chris, you certainly get about. A few fish there but, might have been a bit better on a little bit smaller tide. That looked like hard work getting back. Tight lines pall.
Yeah you’re right, I fished it the first day as that was the smallest tide of the three days I was there. I’ll definitely be back later in the season 🎣
Cracking video from a new subscriber 👍. Was in portpatrick myself over the weekend spinning on various rock marks. Plenty of sports pollock, coalfish and codling nothing big but good fun.
Thanks for the sub I really appreciate it, yeah there was loads around but I couldn’t find the bigger fish. Port Logan the day after was a bit better but it’s still early in the season to be fair. Tight lines mate 👍🎣
Hi Chris, love your videos, (by far my favorite) especially as much of it is local to me (from Houghton Le Spring). Would be interesting to find out when you recorded this, me and mate were up there last Monday (25.04.22) I only had around 6 fish bus a much better stamp, best was 7 to 8 lb most 2 to 3 lb. I fished very close in (maybe 50 - 100 yards out) to the left of the harbour casting a 25g white sidewinder toward the rocks / cliffs and used a steady retrieve, the fish were coming up from the kelp to hit the lure, the kelp was frequently only 6 to 8 ft under the kayak. fished Port Logan on the Tuesday but only managed 1 decent fish.
Thanks for the info Martin that’s much appreciated. I struggled to find any when I was trying to research it. Sounds like you caught all the decent ones as I was there just a couple of days after you on the 28th. I just knew I was slightly off the pace. A couple of folk I’ve spoken to since have said pretty much the same as you so thanks again for the info. Glad you’re enjoying the channel! 🎣👍
I'll have to try taking my Yak over there, Chris. Couple of mates and myself tried Portpatrick and Cairnryan a couple of years ago. We were Shore Fishing, and got NOWT. Nice to see you catching, mate.
Hi mate, I got pals who fish it from the shore and they all say walk south about a mile or so. Hopefully I’ll get back there later in the season and winkle out a few of the better fish 👍🎣
Hi Chris, Another great and enjoyable video, showing the effort, thought and tactics that go into a yak fishing session. I’m gaining so much from your videos as I’m new to yak sea fishing. You (and Nathan from Slippy Limpets) are educating me in a funny and friendly way - and as an English school teacher myself , I have to say; hats off to you, kidda!
Cheers mate. You two ( thee and SLIPlimpz) have got me hooked over the last 6 months or so ( bad pun) and I’ve now got a yak, and am either yak or rock lure fishing as much as I can - when the family life allows. I’m a Mackem but have lived n worked up in Edinburgh since 2001, so you lads are gettin’ me al’reet. I am thankful for your advice. Up in Skye at the minute ( May 12th) and been loving Staffin and Elgol. Loads of pollock and saithe/ coalie from rocks, some up to 5lbs and great fun on a light 10 -28g rod/ 2000 avocet salt reel. Feel like jaws, and they are VORACIOUS after their spawn. Keep up the grand work, sunshine! You are doing lush stuff! Gary W
Yes I’ve been for a look, I’m gonna do a vid there in a couple of weeks when the water warms up. Easy park and easy launch, right up my street 😊🎣 I’ll have to get the dirty bait out!
Hi, I’ve been working my way through your videos of the south west of Scotland, fantastic stuff, really enjoyed them, is there a slip at Port Patrick where you launch your Kayak, I’m interested in launching a SIB for some pollock fishing this summer.
Hi, yeah you launch from the harbour itself. Park in the car park to the left of the harbour and it’s a short pull down the hill. Currents are crazy around the headlands so smaller tides are better 👍🎣
Hi mate, I’m not sure it makes any difference to be honest it’s just something I’ve been messing around with. I’ve been using Sticky Krill and Manilla. They’re just a couple of quid from go outdoors 🎣👍
Hi mate, what power pack do you use for your fish finder? Ive had a good scroll through your videos but cant find it in the comments..... it must be there and ive missed it. Keep up the great vids mate.
By far the worst waters in the uk!! I fish the same channel only on the opposite side here in NI, nothing but small tiny fish!! Its a real shame I have been trying to find out why it’s so bad!! Thanks 😊
I don’t know, I’ve had some nice fish out along the mull Ryan, it’s a bit early in the season is all. I had a better session the day after at Port Logan. A friend had a 14lb pollack out at Portpatrick 20ft from the shore two seasons ago. Tight lines mate 🎣👍
