Just watched Mrs Locker prepare the Pollock. Still though, would love to see her rendition of beer battered fish and chips. Love your videos and how you are raising your son.
As a guy who loves fishing, but who has never caught a fish larger than his bait, I still find your adventures exciting and inspirational. I look forward to each of your videos. Keep up the good work.
Magnificent session John - you & Tom had some fantastic Pollock there! The Cuckoo Wrasse was beautiful too! Really great show you put on John, with the Pollock. I would have thought you would at least bring one home so we could see your wife prepare a proper basket of beer battered fish and chips! I'm guessing the seals spot you on the shore and know that you will catch them a free lunch? Great video, and I enjoy them all. You are a great family man. I'm in land locked Oklahoma USA.
What a fantastic day you had mate. Seemed like you couldn't miss. Good to know that biggish fish can be caught so close to the shore. I guess it's all about knowing the best marks. Hard to find the best ones but I need to do more discovering of my own. From what I've heard so far though, the best marks are in mostly dangerous areas. We are experiencing fires at the moment and I'm a tad distracted form how things are going down the coast. Our next camping day was not far away but will probably have to cancel it because of the air quality. There is a strong smell of burning outside and there's a haze with visibility down to maybe half a kl . Still, a fire would not stop me watching your videos. Looking forward to the next one John. Great video as always! Would it be possible to do a video on how to find good shore fishing spots. Maybe using Google maps or things to look out for in general. Great video! Came across the channel last week, it’s been really informative. Got my first ever spinning session coming up next week in North Cornwall off the rocks and piers with my son who’s new to fishing and I want to get him hooked (not literally 🤣) - any further advice for a complete spinning rookie?
- If you're fishing off somewhere rocky for Pollack I would recommend trying weedless lures. If its clean sand for mackerel use something small and heavy that casts a long way. 😊👍🏻🎣
Great session John. Loved this video. Some lovely fish, all a good size. Great lures, well worth the few pounds for them. Like you say a longer rod would have helped for getting around the kelp field. Nice tip on returning them to the sea, head first . Cheers buddy!🎣🐟🎣🐟🎣🐟
Graham Allen - Thanks Graham. Yeah they are wicked lures!! The tips about returning the fish like I say in the vid, if the fish is still full of life and wants to go back torpedoing them into the water is great. If they are limp and exhausted they need recovering gently. 😉🎣🐟
@@TheFishLocker true mate, i know where you mean but that backdrop deff aint Cornwall. 🤣😂🤣😂 where ever it is doesnt matter its the fish that count and they where deffo in the mood for a scrap. Where can I get one of those waist hand towel things? They look amazing!?!
Chris Capewell - Have a look on fb for a page called “Netties Towels” if you can’t find that then have a speak to Matty Preston on the fb group “Team Cod Ed’s” and mention time him you’ve seen it on my vids. 😉🎣👍🏻
What an awesome day of fishing! Always great to get out with friends and family and even better if the fish are going at it! Always interesting to learn the techniques you use.
- Thank you Evan, yes I absolutely agree. Fishing is great but its always better when you have someone to share it with. None of the techniques I use are very complex. Keep it simple keep it fun. ;)
Christ I love these videos. I'll lend you my 11inch pliers 😁
- Thanks mate, glad you're enjoying them. 😊
As normal John, a cracking pollock session outstanding quality of video and fish you had a cracking day for it look forward to the next one.
Craig Fishing South West Scotland - Thanks Craig. It was a blinder of a session and I’m so glad the video turned out ok so I could share it with you all. 😊🎣🐟🐟
Is that this time of year John or earlier in year great vid keep them coming mate 👍👍from liverpool
Paul Hoolahan - This was less than a couple of weeks back Paul. I had a great session 2 days ago with 6 Pollack 3 over 5lb-6lb. So they’re still here. 😉🎣
Great video their John so nice fish out there can't go wrong looks very tasty they do looks like a great spot you've got plenty
hardcore fisherman - They were really in the feed weren’t they!! Cracking stamp of fish and they taste great. 😉🎣🍽
@@TheFishLocker well great mate nice to see some fish I've had a few sessions now with nothing the season was too rough at the moment for me
Great video!
What a lot of Pollocks. :P
JP - 🤣🐟😛
As usual John, great entertaining vid with some great fish landed. Cheers Phil. Manchester.
phil brooke - It is my pleasure Phil. 😊🎣🐟💙
Great sesh mate, guessing this was when you were up north on the same trip as the skate vid as that deffo not a Cornish backdrop. 😂🤣😂👍👍🎣🎣🎣
It looks like a place near lands end to me. Cornwall is full of surprises.
@@nemesisslr deffo not in cornwall the rocks are wrong. 👍👍
If anywhere i would say west coast of scotland.
Andy Scott - Thats not entirely true. Have a look at the rock formations around places like Sennen. 😉🎣
@@TheFishLocker true mate, i know where you mean but that backdrop deff aint Cornwall. 🤣😂🤣😂 where ever it is doesnt matter its the fish that count and they where deffo in the mood for a scrap. Nice to see you wearing a "blowup collar" something a few more fishermen should be doing rather than chancing their luck. 👍👍👍👍
One a chuck fishing , great sport. Nice to see them going back. Good job!
Giles Whitehead - Only take what you need Giles. I try and return everything I can and only take what will not survive ( deep hooked etc ) I’m glad you enjoyed the video and all the best. 😊👍🏻🎣🐟
Nice to see poppy being worn with pride 👍
J Mc - Nothing but pride and respect for those who have served and are serving. 😊💙
Just found your channel and it's brilliant- could watch for hours (and have done). Thank you.
Welcome to the channel Martin :)
@@TheFishLocker Cheers
Looks like the sleeping warrior in the back ground 😂
Nice try. Not even close.
Lovely bit of pollock fishing there mate. Pollock are great craic on light gear. Love catching them on a heavy version of the drop shot rig, like used by perch and freshwater bass anglers, with soft plastics and an offset hook. Great over rough ground as the lead is the only thing that can get snagged
gary lawlor - They are great fun aren’t they. Especially when you hook a bruiser. 😛🎣👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker for sure bud. Thanks again for taking the time to create your channel, it is excellent 👍
john what make ,type ,and size is your life jacket please
troy wales - Hi Troy, I have a pic and a link on the Fishlocker fb page. Give me a PM and I’ll give you the details. Mine was from a local chandlers but you can get the exact same ones online. 😉👍🏻🎣
Brilliant!! Looks like you both had alot of fun!!
glen Perrier - It was a belting session Glen. 👍🏻🎣
Well done for wearing a life jacket that's very sensible
one man and his yak - Thank you, you will see from most of our videos and all of our boat vids I wear and encourage others to wear them. 😊👍🏻
Will the life Jacket work tho I am all up for poppy's but is that pinned in his life vest 😬
Shaun 123 - It is a stick on Poppy and is stuck to the outer protective cover of the jacket. The actual inflatable part is luminous yellow. 👍🏻
Absolute magic fantastic sport on that kind of gear and all the fish returned safely proper sports fishermen.
This is still one of the best shore sessions I have ever had. 🎣👍🏻
Do we get many marks as deep as this on the south coast ?
Lots.
just earned a new sub, know nothing bout sea fishing and bought some sidewinder lures to use purely from watching this vid, 5 casts in and caught the biggest fish i have ever had, nice pollok, amazing man looking to get out much more to the coast with lures now,
That is fantastic. Well done Paul. 👍🏻👍🏻🎣
Hi John just one questions do you use a leader when fishing for pollock?
I show and explain in the video.
Amazing vid, very nice and super location. keep those vids coming
Paul Le Fur - Thank you Paul. All the best and have a great evening. 👍🏻🎣
Do you reccomend the 4 inch skerries or 6inch for shore and kayak fishing?
Depends on the conditions your fishing in. I do prefer the longer ones personally. These are worth having with you also. Spinner - bit.ly/35B8Mx2
@@TheFishLocker Thank you for the reply!
Perfect fishing John, thanks.
Teresa Hepplewhite - Thank you very much Teresa. I’m glad we could share it with you. 😊🎣🐟🐟
Nearly time to repeat this session? 😋
- We will see what covid says.
Fabulous watch John, really enjoyed it, and the stamp of fish coming out, and handled daringly. Very informative for anyone thinking of soft lure fishing. Looking forward to your next videos. Tight lines.
I hope the video shows what is possible, we had a blast!!
Why not keep one or two there good eating aren't they
Meh, i'm not really that keen on them to be honest. The texture isn't flaky like cod, it's kind of more... mushy.
Shimas Faris - We did end up keeping 1 each. I prefer to return as many fish as I can and will usually only take one that will not survive. Deep hooked etc. 😉🎣🐟 If prepared right they are delicious. 🐟🍽
@@masterbeethoven8209 The fillets need to sit in the fridge for 1-3 days, they firm up and have the exact same texture as cod, but a little more of a fishy taste.
@@IOMFishing Ahh maybe that's why then. I usually eat or giveaway fish the same day I catch it. Thanks, I'll try that next time.
What a session that was mate! No tiddlers either, really enjoyed this one!
The Portsmouth Angler - Thanks Jake. No faking this one is there. 😉🎣👍🏻😛
wow . luckly day for you guys . btw who is another guy ?
BenjaminRobert Yi - He is a very good friend of mine. He’s a geologist who shares our passion for the outdoors and fishing. I did a cod video and a skate video with him also. 😊👍🏻🎣
The Fish Locker haha that’s nice to hear that . So when will u guys finish again haha
BenjaminRobert Yi - As soon as the government allows it.
The Fish Locker yeah cool waiting for that .
That’s some quality fishing! I’ve a mark I fish here in Northern Ireland and when it’s fishing well with the right tides it’s non stop!
robert cecil - Those marks are pure gold aren’t they!! 👍🏻😊🎣
robert cecil port muck on islandmagee and garron point in red bay are great spots. Both have great pollock and garron point will throw up a few conger and Huss.
Great fishing. What time of day is best for saltwater fishing in the UK? Cheers
Depends entirely in the location and species.
Your so lucky to have such great fishing nearby! if you ever fancy a roadtrip to the east coast im happy to show you how to struggle catching fish lol :) great vid again bud, mouth watering!
chris beare - Haha. You sell it so well mate. 🤣
Where is this? Not a Cornish coast
- Are you sure about that?
The Fish Locker no way!!! I don’t recognise the ‘mountainous’ terrain in the back ground
Pretty sure I know though 😉
Jimmy Mature - I’ll give you a clue. It’s not Essex. 😉👍🏻🎣
@@TheFishLocker haha looks like scotland. No way do we have those kind of terrain in cornwall. Either wales, ireland or scotland. Im going for scotland as it looks to familiar to a few marks i have seen before. If its in cornwall then i would be shocked as we do not have mountains in england within an inlet. No Way! hahaha cant be essex too ;)
After watching your videos, I have started shore fishing on lures.
I live in Wiltshire so trips are infrequent, but we are a family of foragers and spend many a day collecting food.
You have a knack fishing and your demeanour is infectious, a credit to the sport too.
This was really just to say thanks, but somehow thanks doesn't seem enough 🤷🏻♂️ great stuff 🙏🏻
Have you had a look at The Saltwater Angler? He does a lot of shore fishing for bass further down the coast. He has lots of good tips to share. 😉👍🏻
How deep were you fishing??
I explain in the video. 😉
John many thanks for your great videos (editing) and the knowledge you shared with us throughout 2019. Highlight for me were those two tuna you caught and released, unbelievable!
Wishing you, your good lady and Fish Locker junior a very Merry Christmas and a great 2020.
Junior will be wanting his own boat soon 😂🚤🎣🎅🏻⚓️🎄🎥🐟🎣
- It has been my absolute pleasure to be able to share my passion with you all. I have a few highlights. Some incredible sessions - a few PB's and a few new species even. I have loved it all. I can only hope 2020 has half as many good fish. :D
What rod are you using? Cheers
Everything is linked in the video descriptions
@@TheFishLocker all I can see is links to two sidewinders and a spinner. Nothing about rod or reel like you normally do. Want something to throw smaller lures and have a whip on it.
Yeah it doesnt say in the description and I'm interested to know as it does look like the ideal rod.
@@abdul-hadidadkhah1459 - Sorry about that, I have just checked and it was an Izu, I’ve removed the link as they’re now discontinued. This is what I’m using now. Penn Conflict Inshore 30g - bit.ly/38sx1C7
@@TheFishLocker I appreciate that, thanks for getting back. I was looking at Nomura as they do 8ft ones which is a bit more practical for rock marks than an 9 or 10 footer.
Some brilliant fishing there lads great video take care tight lines, Love the way you return fish you could have a freezer full after that session. lol
fred dimble - Thanks Fred. As with our foraging videos - take only what you need. 😉🎣🐟🍽
Where is this location?
We do not reveal the locations of our videos.
@@TheFishLocker damn, OK, keep up the good work though 👍 awesome videos
@@Lmc88y If locations are revealed, they get overfished. However, there are many, many places to fish for pollack. Just look for a rocky shoreline with deepwater. Google earth and Navionics are your friends with this. Then get out and fish! Tight lines
Pollack fishing was so good...I felt bad because no dog fish were caught 😉! Great video, I'm totally "hooked" on ur channel. Tight Lines!

Another great video. I've not thought about lure fishing but after watching your video I'm buying a couple of packs and will give them a go either off the pier or on rocks (if they have rocks in the Eastbourne area. As always you are Inspirational!
David Bainbridge - I have tried almost ever soft plastic in the sidewinder range now and they have some amazing stuff. As I say, skerries for shallow and upper water stuff and the heavier ones for deeper lure fishing. All nail it!!!
Your the man John 👌 some fantastic pollock , well done
colin Breen - Thanks Colin, I think Tom ended up with more fish than me that day. It was a cracking days fishing. I can’t wait to give that spot another crack. 👍🏻🎣🐟

what a great video, i'm just heading to bed then up at 5am for a 3hr drive to somewhere on the scottish west coast 🤫 for a 9 hr session with pollack, the deep mark i fish does very well at low tide as it turns and starts to come in.
